Story
Dexter is a spirited 2-year-old Queensland Heeler with a beautiful tan and white coat. He was surrendered by his previous owner but is now ready to find his forever home. Since arriving at the shelter on March 23, 2024, Dexter has shown that he’s full of energy and eager to explore the world.Dexter is a strong boy who loves his walks, though he’s still learning how to stay calm on a leash. He’s a smart dog who knows how to sit and is getting better every day at doing it on command. Dexter absolutely loves to play fetch—his eyes light up at the sight of a ball, and he’s always ready for a good game. He would thrive in an active household that can provide the structure, exercise, and playtime he craves. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who’s up for any adventure, Dexter is your guy! Come meet him at the San Luis Obispo County Animal Services and see if he’s the perfect match for you!

Story
Sofia is a doll! She's about 9 months old and was rescued from the Riverside County, CA shelter just in time. She is now in foster care in Santa Barbara, CA. Sofia is such a typical cattle dog! She's smart, energetic and athletic. She can easily jump up onto a 3 1/2 high narrow ledge! She's also capable of being chill and hanging out as long as she gets decent exercise. Sofia is great with all other dogs she has met, and she has met a lot. She plays well with a larger age-mate. She's high enough prey drive that cats are likely not a good match for her. She was also very nervous around a toddler, so she's a no for a home with small children. Sofia can be shy with strangers, also typical of the breed, and she was clearly grabbed by the collar and not treated well, so it took awhile for her to trust being caught or put on a leash. But now that she's had lots of great experiences with both, she is a new dog! She used to be scared of the car too, but after a few trips to the dog park, she's ready to leap right in! Sofia is vaccinated, and her adoption includes her spay (scheduled for later this month) and microchip as well.

Story
COURTESY POST: These dogs are only available in the Santa Barbara County/western Ventura County area. Falcon and Olsa are a bonded pair, most likely father and daughter, who were left behind when their family moved away. They were in a shelter for awhile but are now in foster care. If you want two quiet older dogs who need very little and just like to hang out, this is your answer. Both dogs are low key. They are housebroken and crate trained and good on leash. They love a neighborhood walk but are mostly happy to just hang out. Because of undersocialization, they are very shy meeting new people and take a while to warm up. Falcon is more shy, but once he warms up to you, he is a lover who will sit next to you on the couch and ask ask ask for petting. Both dogs are great with other dogs, with no aggression issues. We haven't seen them with cats. They would be fine with kids, but no young ones because the children would scare them! Both dogs are vaccinated, fixed, and microchipped. They are available from Santa Barbara County Animal Services and the adoption fee is $110 per dog (although maybe we could get a 2-for-1 deal!).

This sweet girl was adopted from a local shelter by an elderly couple that cannot meet her exercise needs. She is a kisser and cuddler and is well behaved although not leash trained. She sometimes nips playfully as heelers do, but her elderly step brother is not fond of it.
