How this pet arrived: Nemo was brought in by a community member. Why Nemo might be the one for you:Nemo came to us with only three legs but that has not stopped him from climbing stairs to get into his foster's bed with her. His fosters says that Nemo is so friendly meeting strangers that they ask if he is a puppy (he isn't) because of his big smile and how excited he is to meet them. He has been easy to train per his foster - he remembers what he should do and what he shouldn't do. This happy boy is always ready to join you for a walk, playtime or a relaxing cuddle session. He loves to go for adventures and rides well in the car. He is ready to make friends everywhere he goes and will solicit pets and attention from anyone willing to say hello. How this pet arrived:This pet was brought in by a community member on October 25, 2025. Why this pet is the one for you:Say hello to Haze, a sweet, active girl in search of a calm, patient home to help her feel safe and understood. New environments and unfamiliar people can be overwhelming for her, but with slow introductions, soft voices and plenty of tasty treats, she warms up and shows her affectionate side. Once comfortable, Haze walks nicely on leash and enjoys pets. She's more of a "quiet home" kind of dog and would do best in a low-traffic setting with older children who can respect her space. Haze has been known to be selective about her dog friends, so she's looking for a home where she can be your one and only canine companion. She's not a candidate for dog parks or other off-leash venues, but there are plenty of other activities you can do together to strengthen your bond! With structure, understanding and gentle guidance, this lovely girl is sure to blossom into a loyal and loving friend. Story
We adopted Bailey when he was 10 weeks old from Helen Woodward animal hospital. We DNA tested him, and he is 34% cattle dog, 18% austr shepherd, 11% boxer, 11.5% labrador retriever, 11% redbone coonhound (he is from Oklahoma), 9.4% Great Pyrenees, 3% golden retriever. He is now 3 years old and has lived with us since we adopted him. We have two other dogs, one a golden retriever and one a chihuahua/minpin mix. We believe that the right home for him would be where there are no children or other dogs (or probably other pets). We would hope for active people who can take him hiking, running, and give him a lot of love and happiness. We have only had golden retrievers in our 50 years of marriage, and did not know he was a herder when we adopted him. He gets a lot of love here, but our family has decided that it is not the ideal place for him. He is very sweet 99% the time, but is a resource guarder , and tends to overarousal and hyperactivity if something sets him off .

Story
Meet Shelby This sweet 3-year-old girl has had a tough journey. Shelby was once adopted, but sadly, her person passed away. After that, she was boarded at a kennel facility in Spring Valley, San Diego — and no one ever came back for her. Shelby is shy and timid, but behind those gentle eyes is a heart that just wants to feel safe and loved again. She’s been living in a kennel for far too long and deserves a patient, kind person who can show her what it means to have a real home. The Heroic Tail Rescue is stepping in to help Shelby find her forever family — and will even provide free training if needed to help her adjust and build confidence. If you’re ready to give Shelby the love and security she’s been waiting for, please send us a message or apply online at www.theheroictail.orgOctober 6, 2025, 2:30 am

Story
Meet Ripley 💛 Ripley is a loyal, affectionate cuddle bug who bonds deeply with her person and loves nothing more than snuggling up close. She’s pretty chill at home most of the time, but she also has an adventurous side — she loves hiking, swimming, and being outdoors, then coming home to relax right by your side. Ripley is potty trained and crate trained, and her crate is her safe space. She does best when she has structure and supervision — when she gets bored, she can become destructive, so she cannot be left alone outside of her crate. (Her favorite chew toy is… a Birkenstock shoe, so hide yours ) Ripley has done training and has made big improvements, but she can still be reactive with dogs behind fences (especially if the other dog starts barking), and she may react to fast-moving things like scooters, bikes, and joggers, so we avoid those situations as much as possible. Ripley would thrive in a home where she is the only dog, so she can fully relax.
