Story
Rigby ended up at a shelter after being attacked by several others dogs. Although his injuries were not severe, it seems it has made him a bit untrusting at first. Once he is comfy with you, he is a sweet playful happy boy! Rigby's wishlist: 1. Secure yard/no apartments 2. Adult only home 3. A playful, well mannered dog companion under 30 lbs to play chase with 4. Herding breed experienced person 5. Daily walks, playtime and continued training are recommended 6. Possible adopters available for multiple meets Rigby is a sweet, medium energy cattle dog mix. He is thought to be approximately 3 1/2 years old and is currently 23 lbs. Rigby is playful and loves to play chase with other friendly dogs. He feels most comfortable with dogs who are similar in size to him or smaller. He does not enjoy rough play or overly rough dogs who like to wrestle or play fight. He enjoys going for walks and walks politely on a leash. He likes a yard to explore and play in and is an alert barker so no apartments for him. He is crate trained and housebroken in his foster home. Rigby seems to prefer women and can be somewhat intimidated by men. He does well with men who are gentle and understand the needs of a timid dog. He can be shy when meeting new people but has shown he will warm up with slow, gentle introductions and treats. Once he is bonded to a favorite person he is loyal, affectionate and sweet. He enjoys following his person around the house and yard. Children would overwhelm him so an adult only home is recommended. Rigby would do well in a quiet home with a friendly, confident dog companion to pal around with, help show him the ropes and keep him company while his humans are away from home. He would be best suited for a person who has the time, patience and understanding to help him continue to grow more confident and trusting. Rigby currently lives and gets along with dog savvy cats but he will challenge shy kitties and chase if they run. He will chase outdoor cats who enter the yard. Rigby is a sweet, funny little guy who is waiting for his forever home. Story
Introducing Pokey Puppy!!! Pokey's estimated dob is May 2023.  He came to us in poor condition from one of the Central Valley shelters so had little hope of making it out.  Pokey has had good care and good groceries and has flourished.  He appears to be a short stack Cattle Dog mix given his coloration and some of his behaviors.  Pokey is still shy with new people and to some extent other dogs so patience will be needed for his transition.  Once he is comfortable, he is happy and playful.  Pokey has been learning about the wide world and walks the neighborhood everyday.  He will continue to need exposure and reassurance for outings as he matures,  along with solid training.  Pokey is currently 23-24 lbs and will most like be between 30-40 lbs at maturity.  He is a strong and active player so another sturdy playful pup would be good.  Pokey  sleeps in his crate at night.  He has also mastered the dog door.  And he is pretty much potty trained. Pokey's wishlist: 1.  Fenced yard 2.  Daily walks and activity 3.  No young children.  Older respectful children  4.  Continued training  5.  Patience and leadership 6.  A compatible playmate Please email right away if you would like to learn more about this dog......and visit our website www.siarescuers.org to learn more about our rescue group. Story
This is a courtesy post. Please email Pilar at pilarmajors@gmail.com, Stella is fostered in Glencoe, CA. Here is the information that Pilar (her foster mom) has to say about Stella: Stella is about two years old, a mix of heeler and shorthaired pointer, located in Glencoe, CA and is looking for an active person or family she can call her own. We have been fostering her for a year after she was found by us and neighbors in the highway multiple times. She had fleas, about 25 ticks on her, was underweight, and had very bad habits of escaping and running for miles (she is a VERY athletic dog!), had zero training, and showed signs of being kicked by people. However, she was still naturally an incredibly sweet, cuddly dog who clearly wanted to have friends and be an active family dog! We have since gotten her fully de-bugged, to a healthy weight, spayed, and vaccinated, and her training is coming along well to ensure she can fit in to a new family. She is the perfect size…small enough to carry, and big enough to run alongside us for miles. We have leash trained her, and she has learned to sit and stay. She loves wrestling with bigger dogs, is great with our cats, has been very gentle with veterinarians and children, and likes to be active, she would make an excellent adventure companion for anyone who likes to take road trips, camp, hike, run, etc. She is terrified of horses, will chase turkeys and squirrels, and gets very jealous of the attention we give to our other (equally jealous) big dogs, so she is just not able to have as much fun in our rural household as she’d like to. She has the CUTEST bouncy, joyful run, and will “hold hands” with anyone, giving them the best “take me home” seal pup eyes, so she is sure to win your heart! I have enjoyed her company in my therapy practice, she would be a great choice for an ESA dog or even a therapy or service dog for someone with experience in training her through her remaining goals. We are very reluctant to let her go to a new home, but she does need more action and her own active person with time and attention to spare, and with our horsey life and full household, she just isn’t getting enough of either. She cannot be trusted to stay in a fence, she will dig and climb even 6' fences, but does well when crated overnight indoors, and is cable run trained so she can stay in a yard if this is available to her. She is learning to be recalled off leash but needs a very responsible person to work on her training in this area. She does not like highly rambunctious, in-her-face smaller dogs, and can bump into small children when excited though she does not mean any harm. We would be happy to tell you more about her! Stella's adoption fee is $250, please contact Pilar at pilarmajors@gmail.com PRE-SCREENING, VET REFERENCES & FENCED YARD REQUIRED. SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY! THIS IS A COURTESY POST. Please contact Sheryl with OAKDALE TINY PAWS RESCUE, text+1 (209) 606-3640 or email at tinypawsoakdale@gmail.com, Pippi is being fostered in Modesto. Pippi is a beautiful and loving 6-month-old female cattle dog mix. She loves to run and play, she loves chew on her favorite toys, to cozy up, and she especially loves sniffing her way around the backyard. Pippi is always in a happy go lucky mood! Pippi needs a job, she needs to be worked, and she would truly thrive in a busy environment. She wakes up in the morning and she is ready to go! Pippi has gone to puppy training and knows basic commands but can still use some working with so she doesn't forget them. She is curious with cats - sometimes chases but will stop when redirected. Pippi is very sweet, not aggressive, and absolutely loves other dogs. She is up to date on all vaccinations, spayed, microchipped, has a clean and clear bill of health, and is housetrained. Baron is a sweet, protective and alert dog. He gets along well with our other dog and cat however is timid and guarded against strangers and their dogs. He needs a little time to trust you and once he does, will attempt to sit in your lap and lick you nonstop. He loves the outdoors and needs space to run and herd.

Story
Lilly is an energetic and playful dog that will be 1 year in September. She's an adorable pit/Aussie cattle dog mix as far as we can tell. We adopted her somewhat recently then found out we're expecting and don't have capacity for a baby and young dog at the same time. Lilly is smart and has learned quickly. She's crate and house trained, and is working on leash skills. We're also training sit, down, stay, and wait. She will sit and wait for a release word before eating. She gets along well with our older dog, but would not do well in a home with cats or small kids. We're not sure what happened in Lilly's past before we got her, but she is fearful and sometimes reactive, particularly with men. For this reason we hope to find and adopter who has some experience with dogs. Once Lilly does trust you, she's happy to snuggle up on the couch or flop over for belly rubs. We really wish we could keep her, but the timing didn't work out so we're hoping to find her a good home.

Story
We adopted Cowboy in March. There wasn’t much known about him other than that he was found on a farm near Stockton (the shelter we adopted him from was near Stockton). We live in Sacramento. He is very smart and trainable (motivated by food). He will not work for our family because I have two kids - 10 and 7 - and he gets very excited when they play. His excitement scares them too much, sadly. He does get mouthy but he has never bitten any one. My kids, though, just don’t feel comfortable with the mouthiness. I’ve taken him to dog parks several times and he has been fine with other dogs aside from the occasional growl at bigger dogs (he seems to be feel more threatened by them). In short, I think the optimal home for him would be someone with older kids and no other dogs. Cowboy is very loyal and likely attach very quickly to his care taker. Bonus if you have the time and energy to really train him as I think he would respond well to it.
