Ready to learn. Loves people. Red Speckled Australian Stumpy Tailed/Cattle dog mix Contact Hollie 707-321-5022 or dollielamafarm [at] yahoo [dot] com    Puppy is a handsome, red Stumpy Tail Australian Cattle Dog (Heeler) mix. He was picked up as a stray on July 30th. We thought he would be claimed quickly bc he was so sweet and good looking.  That is why we didn’t name him. We have called a variety of names: (full) Monty, Dingo Boy, Mr. Camo-Pants… mostly just “Puppy”.   The vet estimates him to be about 11 months old (11/20/2024) presently.   Puppy is aggressively friendly. He wants to say hi to every person and animal we come across on our walks or who comes to the house. He’s quite cheerful, smart, and eager to learn. What little training I have done with him is with the assistance of treat rewards.   He loves to be outside - running around, grazing on grass, or just sitting in the sunshine. Mornings are his active time requiring a good deal of attention, and he seems to settle down for naps more easily in the afternoon. In the evening he likes to sit with family on the couch to watch TV and get belly rubs. That said, he doesn’t quite grasp the concept of personal space. He believes himself to be a cat-sized lap dog.   Speaking of cats, we have an older female who confines herself to the master bedroom. Puppy will want to go in and say hi. She responds with hissing, meowing, and swiping if he gets too close. It did not look as if he wanted to attack her at all. He’s just curious.   He can be left home alone for a few hours during the day. This only happens about once every couple weeks. As far as toys go, he’s destroyed and tried to eat all things furry within hours. We limit him to Nyla bones and a couple of hard to destroy balls.   We put him in a kennel to sleep at night. He resists going in but doesn’t complain for the rest of the time once he’s in. He does great on a people bed, too, but wants to be let out too early in the morning for my grown kids’ taste when they’re here. He will tolerate a shower but doesn’t care to be towel dried.   Puppy is housebroken, neutered, and vaccinated (not chipped). He deserves a good home with someone to give him attention, training, enrichment, companionship, and room to run.    December 4, 2024, 10:07 pm

Story
Please contact Lucinda (lucinda@northbaycanine.org) for more information about this pet.North bay Canine Rescue and Placement  Call Hollie at: 707-321-5022 Lady is a 9 year old, red speckle ACD She came from an abusive breeder situation around 5 years ago.  In that time she has become more social and comfortable with people, she prefers women but will get along fine with men (currently living with me, my husband and 15 year old son).  She comes with everything- bed, bowls, toys, harness, leash, small bag of food. Lady is shy around new people but once she warms up she is super friendly, affectionate and excited to play. She has way more energy than my 4 year old dog! She loves to ride in the car, go for walks and chase tennis balls. She gets along fine with other dogs unless there is a toy involved. She is not OK at the dog park. I think maybe with training this could be helped, but I don't have the ability to take that on right now. She also gets along with cats, probably even better than dogs as she mostly ignores them  Before I took her, she had been suffering from hair loss and itchy skin, I switched her to my dog's food (Acana red meat) and her coat condition has improved greatly. She is otherwise a very typical cattle dog, always ready to go, wants to be with her person, has 'the stare' and will jam herself into any comfortable bed. She loves to roll in dirt but is not big on being outdoors by herself. She is totally completely house trained. She does not get on the furniture. She occasionally barks, but only when my dog starts it. She is a very easy keeper and super sweet dog. She would love to have a large fenced space to really run after toys. She has excellent recall but needs a refresher on sit/stay/etc. Walks pretty nicely on leash, previously was able to walk off-leash but I haven't attempted it.  October 31, 2024, 2:50 am

Story
Please contact Lucinda (lucinda@northbaycanine.org) for more information about this pet. This animal is at North bay Canine Rescue and Placement  Ella aka El, is a very special pup, looking for a very special home.   She loves her person unconditionally, but is fearful of everyone else.  She's looking for a home with little to no people traffic, or high intensity household chaos.  El is incredibly smart, funny, playful, charming, affectionate & overall adorable.  She's just afraid of her own shadow.  El's had basic obedience, is great on a leash & loves to go out for walks or hikes.  She hasn't had much car time & so far doesn't seem to be fond of it.  She's got a bit of drive, so most likely wont be good (loose)with Livestock, chickens, or goats.  She is fine with cats tho, & is pals with the 2 Weimaraner dogs she's gotten to know.  She would make an awesome hiking partner, as she's small (35+#), and agile & fit.  Ella is in a home with a lot of people traffic currently & is coping, but we feel we can do better for her.  She is house broken, crate trained & a wonderful girl.  To fill out our adoption application please go here: http://northbaycanine.org/adopting-from-north-bay/ Call: 707-321-5022 or write: lucindalnf@gmail.comDecember 23, 2024, 10:25 pm

Story
Pippa is an 18 lb cattle dog mix, but her personality is 100% cattle dog! Independent and active with strong herding instincts, Pippa needs a home that can give her long, interesting walks/jogs/hikes every day. Pippa is completely housebroken and currently has access to a fenced backyard through a pet door in her foster home. She has been working on her manners for the past year and has made great progress, though her independence and low food motivation make the process slow; she will thrive in a household that can give her consistent, disciplined training and show patience with her learning. She is intensely stimulated by moving objects such as cars, bicycles and joggers, but is slowly learning to manage her excitement. Other pets: Pippa enjoys the company of other dogs that she is familiar with. She would love to live with a dog who shares her energy level or as an only pet. She currently lives with an older chihuahua whom she really likes, but who doesn’t like her due to her boisterous nature. She is wary around dogs new to her, though does well in an off leash park. Cat tolerance unknown. Children/family structure: Her herding instincts make her not good with small children as she tends to nip their legs. She is OK with older children who are pet-savvy and know how to assert themselves around her. She is selective about the men that she will accept into the house, nipping their heels if she feels unsafe. Pippa is not a cuddle bug; as typical for a cattle dog, she shows her attachment to her Human by sitting close to them, whatever room they’re in. She loves to be off-leash at Point Isabel, and will stick close by her Human, but she also enjoys prancing around just out of reach! At her core, Pippa has a sweet disposition and just wants to have activity and space to roam. She will do well in a household with a highly active lifestyle and consistent training.
