Story
Rigby ended up at a shelter after being attacked by several others dogs. Although his injuries were not severe, it seems it has made him a bit untrusting at first. Once he is comfy with you, he is a sweet playful happy boy! Rigby's wishlist: 1. Secure yard/no apartments 2. Adult only home 3. A playful, well mannered dog companion under 30 lbs to play chase with 4. Herding breed experienced person 5. Daily walks, playtime and continued training are recommended 6. Possible adopters available for multiple meets Rigby is a sweet, medium energy cattle dog mix. He is thought to be approximately 3 1/2 years old and is currently 23 lbs. Rigby is playful and loves to play chase with other friendly dogs. He feels most comfortable with dogs who are similar in size to him or smaller. He does not enjoy rough play or overly rough dogs who like to wrestle or play fight. He enjoys going for walks and walks politely on a leash. He likes a yard to explore and play in and is an alert barker so no apartments for him. He is crate trained and housebroken in his foster home. Rigby seems to prefer women and can be somewhat intimidated by men. He does well with men who are gentle and understand the needs of a timid dog. He can be shy when meeting new people but has shown he will warm up with slow, gentle introductions and treats. Once he is bonded to a favorite person he is loyal, affectionate and sweet. He enjoys following his person around the house and yard. Children would overwhelm him so an adult only home is recommended. Rigby would do well in a quiet home with a friendly, confident dog companion to pal around with, help show him the ropes and keep him company while his humans are away from home. He would be best suited for a person who has the time, patience and understanding to help him continue to grow more confident and trusting. Rigby currently lives and gets along with dog savvy cats but he will challenge shy kitties and chase if they run. He will chase outdoor cats who enter the yard. Rigby is a sweet, funny little guy who is waiting for his forever home. Story
Introducing Pokey Puppy!!! Pokey's estimated dob is May 2023.  He came to us in poor condition from one of the Central Valley shelters so had little hope of making it out.  Pokey has had good care and good groceries and has flourished.  He appears to be a short stack Cattle Dog mix given his coloration and some of his behaviors.  Pokey is still shy with new people and to some extent other dogs so patience will be needed for his transition.  Once he is comfortable, he is happy and playful.  Pokey has been learning about the wide world and walks the neighborhood everyday.  He will continue to need exposure and reassurance for outings as he matures,  along with solid training.  Pokey is currently 23-24 lbs and will most like be between 30-40 lbs at maturity.  He is a strong and active player so another sturdy playful pup would be good.  Pokey  sleeps in his crate at night.  He has also mastered the dog door.  And he is pretty much potty trained. Pokey's wishlist: 1.  Fenced yard 2.  Daily walks and activity 3.  No young children.  Older respectful children  4.  Continued training  5.  Patience and leadership 6.  A compatible playmate Please email right away if you would like to learn more about this dog......and visit our website www.siarescuers.org to learn more about our rescue group. Story
Melody came to us 2 yrs ago extremely shy. Her fostermom has worked diligently with her and we feel she is ready to look for her perfect home. She will likely regress in the transition and will need a patient home to work with her through this period. Here are her "must-haves": * Adult only home * Herding breed experienced * Patient and willing to work though transition period and continue additional training/socialization * Ability to meet several times prior to adoption (local adopter preferred) * Large yard * Preferred social, stable dog as a companion. Melody doesn't interact much with the other dogs, but a stable companion will help in her transition and training. Melody is a pretty little cattle dog mix. She was born around May 2021 and is about 30 lbs. Melody is smart, playful, loyal and sweet once she is comfortable with someone. Melody loves to play ball and is learning to play frisbee. She enjoys the pond at her foster home and will swim and chase a ball in the water. She will follow her people around the yard hoping someone will toss a ball or toy for her. She seems to enjoy the company of other dogs but has not engaged in a lot play with the dogs in her foster home and she would rather play with her ball. Melody becomes attached to a favorite person and will happily follow her person around the house and yard most of the day. She likes to lay on the couch and rest her head on her person’s legs in the evening. Melody can be shy/timid when meeting new people but has shown she can warm up with slow, patient introductions. It may take her a bit of time to adjust in a new home but she is worth the effort. She did not have a good start in life and was not accustomed to human contact and affection. She has progressed so much and enjoys her people and thrives on the attention/affection she receives from them. Melody currently lives on 3 acres where she can run, play fetch, swim and explore. Her ideal home would be on fenced acreage or have a large enough yard to play fetch in. She is looking for a person who is herding dog experienced and who has the time, patience and willingness to give this shy girl a chance at a forever home. Melody is housebroken in her foster home, crate trained and walks nicely on a leash. Children would likely overwhelm her so she requires an adult only home. She currently lives with dog savvy cats and is respectful with them. She lives with dogs of various sizes and ages and does well with them but does not enjoy dogs who continually pester her or get in her face to lick her. She has engaged well with young male dogs who don’t try to bully her. Melody is a sweet, enjoyable dog who is a joy to foster. She is patiently waiting for her forever home. Please email right away if you would like to learn more about this dog......and visit our website www.siarescuers.org to learn more about our rescue group. Story
Jewel's story is a heartbreaking one. It took us over a year to get her. She had an owner in Rosarito Mexico, but he would not feed her and only used her for breeding and guarding the property. Her last 2 litters came into our rescue very sick because of his overwhelming neglect. He only surrendered them when he thought they were going to die and he didn't want to deal with that "inconvenience." But after her last litter passed away we used that as the momentum to finally push him to allow us to take her. Because of the laws in Mexico you cant just steal a dog that has a legal owner without physical abuse videoed so we needed his permission to take her. I'll never forget the first time she came in the house, she wanted to so badly, and the moment she realized that she now had a bed in the house she lost it! She has the sweetest and sunniest disposition we have ever met! All she wants is love and attention. Her favorite are hugs, they solve any situation. If she is naughty, she needs a hug. If its beautiful out, she wants a hug. She is very smart and learns new skills quickly. She will do anything for pets and snuggles!

Story
Hi! I am Junie. I am a sweet 3 year old girl who loves to play and follow my human everywhere. I do have a big smile and a happy, waggy little tail. What do I like? My absolute favorite is playing with water, especially with the water hose and water guns with my humans. I can catch all the water shooting out! Tug of war and fetch is a lot of fun too! Did I mention I love playing with toys too like the bouncy ball? I also enjoy massages, cuddles as well as giving lots of kisses. Something you need to know though is that I am a COVID period baby so I wasn’t well socialized. I do not know how to handle other dogs and strangers so I would do best if I'm the only dog in the house. But, I would love you once you introduce yourself to me nicely. I love my foster family (with 6 & 9 yrs old boys) except their little dog. I follow my foster mom everywhere she goes, especially to the kitchen! Don't worry, I'm fully house broken, can go potty on command and is comfortable in my crate. I also know most basic commands and is comfortable in my crate. I also know most basic commands and is able to learn more if you teach me! If you need a companion for biking or running, I'm ready anytime. I think I'm a good girl overall but foster mom thinks I will need some more training. Can't wait to meet you! Currently being fostered in Fremont, CA.
