Story
Lizzy has a beautifully complex and diverse personality. She possesses a wide range of facets that cannot be adequately understood or described by a single quaility or trait. Incredibly sweet, sensitive and sometimes shy, she will quickly steal your heart. You can see the depth of her soul buried in her eyes and in the way she looks at you. Lizzy wants to make you her everything and craves getting that loyalty in return. Another layer of her personlity is her intelligence. She has mastered many of the basics and is eager to learn and to please. Inside a home she has done well, however due to her extended stay at the shelter she will need someone who is patience and understanding while she decompresses. Lizzy would most likely do best in a quiet home without a bunch of people in and ou or small children. She will sometimes gets excited on walks when she sees other dogs or bicycles on walks, but is generally easily redirected with vocal commands and a treat. In playgroups at the shelter she has not enjoyed the company of other dogs and would do best in a home free of other pets. Her favorite pastime is playing fetch in a yard followed by some snuggles and maybe a bone to chew on. She is also a great hiking buddy, ready to take on any challenge. With an endless amount of love to give, Lizzy will be a once and a lifetime dog to her new family.

Story
Meet FALCONQuiet gentle Falcon is part of a bonded pair with Olsa, who is most likely his daughter. They were left behind when the family moved away, and found themselves in our shelter, sad and confused. But they have each other and that seems to make all the difference! They have been in foster care for several months and are doing very well there.Falcon is about ten years old and about 53 pounds. He is a sweet gentle soul who doesn`t wanna cause any trouble. He loves going on walks around the neighborhood but otherwise is just happy to hang out. He is not fit enough for hikes or long walks however. The two of them are so easy that anybody who wants dogs that make few demands but are good company would be lucky to have these two. They are crate trained and love going on car rides as well and of course they are housebroken. They do great with other dogs and seemed scared when they met a cat. They are gentle with children.Falcon is extremely shy when he first meets people so you need to give him a chance to warm up to you. He will need multiple meetings and a patient person to give him time to build trust, and would need a gradual transition to a new home. Once he does, he will worship you and give you his absolute loyalty, seeking you out for affection and attention. He walks gently on leash but can be frightened by strangers approaching so he would need to be allowed to keep his distance.Olsa and Falcon are very attached to each other, and need to go together to a home with a secure yard and a patient family who will let them settle in and build trust at their own pace. The reward is two dogs who are affectionate, obedient, quiet, and easy to have around!

But they have each other and that seems to make all the difference! They have been in foster care for several months and are doing very well there.Olsa is about eight years old and about 43 pounds. She is an adorable girl, quiet most of the time except when shes trying to get her buddy to play! She loves going on walks around the neighborhood but otherwise shes just happy to hang out; she`s not fit enough for more exercise, so she wouldn`t be a good hiking buddy. The two of them are so easy that anybody who wants dogs that make few demands but are good company would be lucky to have these two. They are gentle with children.Olsa is shy when she first meets people so you need to give her a chance to warm up. She will need multiple meetings with a potential adopter to get to that point, and a gradual transition to a new home. But once she does shes a lovely companion and would be perfect for someone who just wants some dogs to hang around with that don`t require much. She is also quite frightened by new or sudden sounds, so anyone who adopts her would need to be able to handle a 40-ish pound dog that might be startled and pull sharply on a leash. The rest of the time she walks beautifully.Olsa and Falcon are very attached to each other, and need to go together to a home with a secure yard and a patient family who will let them settle in and build trust at their own pace. Story
Who is going to be the lucky person to bring this dog into their life? Sofia is a doll! She's about a year old and was rescued from the Riverside County, CA shelter just in time. She is now in foster care in Santa Barbara, CA. Sofia is everything that a cattle dog should be. She's smart, energetic and athletic. She's also capable of being chill and hanging out as long as she gets decent exercise. And she wants nothing more than to please her shepherd. I've rarely had a foster dog who showed such a quick submissive response to correction. That plus a quick mind will make her so easy to train to be whatever you want! Sofia is great with all other dogs she has met, and she has met a lot. She plays well with a larger age-mate. She's got high enough prey drive that cats are likely not a good match for her. She was also very nervous around a toddler, so she's a no for a home with small children. But she's friendly with older kids. Sofia is housebroken, loves leash walks, and is great on car rides. She's going to be a fantastic companion to anyone who wants an active dog who also wants to cuddle!

This sweet girl was adopted from a local shelter by an elderly couple that cannot meet her exercise needs. She is a kisser and cuddler and is well behaved although not leash trained. She sometimes nips playfully as heelers do, but her elderly step brother is not fond of it.

Hi! My name is Sophie, I am a heeler mix, approximately 2 years old and about 40 lbs! I LOVE life and am overflowing with love! I am eager to please, smart and can be very funny- but most of all I want to give hugs and kisses more than anything! I am great with all humans, big or small. I am crate trained and know a bunch of commands- sit, stay, shake, hit it (a bell), wait, come. I have great recall off-leash and can even recall on just a hand signal. I love to be loved so much that I simply would like to be the only dog in a home in order to thrive and be the best dog I can be! However, outside the house, I have been referred to as the queen of the dog park! I love meeting other dogs off-leash, big or small, for a fun game of chase! I am good with cats. I love to swim and run and play, take me on hikes and adventures and let’s have a great time! I can’t wait to meet you and go on some fun adventures!

I would love to be with an active person or people who can take me for walks, hikes and other fun outings. Please email for an application.

Hi - I'm Abby. I'm a 1-year-old Australian Cattle Dog mix in need of a foster or forever home. I was rescued from a California shelter, where I was impounded and kenneled with several other dogs. While there, I was shaking - it was a tough experience for me. I am now in a better place, and starting to come out of my shell. I weigh only 26 pounds! I will do best in a quiet, calm home where I can get the exercise and love I so desperately crave and deserve. Can you foster or adopt me? Please email for an application.

Listen up, folks! It`s time to meet the one and only Tj, the black and white charmer of the Australian Shepherd mix world! This pup has got the looks, the personality, and a whole lot of spunk to boot.Tj may only be a year and two months old, but he`s already mastered the art of leash walking. He struts his stuff with such finesse that you`ll feel like you`re walking with a canine model on a fashion runway. And let`s not forget about his love for treats - this pup will do just about anything for a tasty snack. Just be prepared for some serious puppy dog eyes and a tail wag that could power a wind turbine. But Tj`s charisma doesn`t stop there. He`s a social butterfly who adores the company of other dogs. Whether it`s a game of fetch, a friendly wrestle, or a good old-fashioned belly rub session, Tj knows how to have a doggone good time. He`s the life of the doggy party, always ready to make new furry friends and spread the joy wherever he goes.Weighing in at approximately 54.00 lbs, Tj is the perfect combination of cuddly and compact. He`s got just the right amount of fluff to snuggle up with on a lazy Sunday afternoon, but he`s also agile enough to join you on all your outdoor adventures. With Tj by your side, you`ll have the best of both worlds - a loyal companion and a four-legged bundle of love. Now, here`s the scoop - Tj has been hanging out at the shelter since Nov 19, 2023. But fear not, my friends, because he`s currently living it up in a foster home while he patiently waits for his forever family. This lucky pup is experiencing all the joys of a temporary home, complete with comfy couches, tasty treats, and endless love. So, if you`re ready to add a dash of excitement and a whole lot of wagging tails to your life, head on over to the shelter and meet Tj. Story
Hi! My name is Obi and I'm at the Santa Barbara Campus. I'm a 3 year-old, male, Australian Shepherd/Belgian Tervuren Mix who came to SB Humane to find my new home! Looking for a photo buddy? I am a very photogenic, bouncy boy who loves physical affection. I will sit on your lap like I'm the size of a cat but it is all love. I get along great with other dogs of any size and do great on car rides as I'm still adjusting. With all of my great features comes one we need to work on which is leash training but no worries our Santa Barbara Humane training center is here to help. Interested in meeting me? Adoption Centers are open daily 12-4:30pm, closed Wednesdays. Adoptions are on a first-come first served basis. For more information please email Adopt@SBHumane.org or call 805-964-4777. When I am adopted, I will have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. My adopters will receive a certificate for a free veterinary exam and our partners at Purina will provide a supply of food for my first few days at home. Our adoption fees help support our community programs and the next animal who needs our help!
