Story
To apply or learn more about Isco, go to: https://www.heartsforpawsrescue.com/219873/2023/11/2/isco Indigo is a 4 yr neutered cattle dog whippet mix (best guess) in need of a special home! Adopted as a puppy through HFP back in 2020, Indigo is looking for a quiet, calm adult home as your one and only! ✅ no separation anxiety ✅ housetrained, crate trained ✅ wonderful base of basic training ✅ smart & trainable ✅ cutest submissive grin/wiggle butt when you come home ✅ moderate activity (relaxed inside but loves to fetch and play!) ✅ doing much better at car travel He was adopted as a 4 month old puppy through HFP but sadly returned 3 years later -- he is currently in a Sacramento Foster home but is really in need of a home of his very own as his foster cannot keep him forever. More about Isco: he has a great base of training and ready to impress you with all his cues, including: Sit, Wait/Stay, Bed, Crate, Down and Off. He walks well on leash and doesn’t pull a ton. He LOVES to sniff everything during his walkies aka Sniffaris ( but doesn’t stop to mark, only sniff). He would do best in a quieter neighborhood as very busy places can make him nervous. Moderate energy -- he loves playing fetch in the backyard and a long daily walk would be ideal for Isco. In the home he is relaxed and independent. He has lived with 2 small dogs in the past and may be able to make dog acquaintances with slow intros but does not have a ton of experience with other dogs at this time. He would do best as prince of the palace as a solo dog in the home. Indigo previously lived with a cat who he loved to play with but can chase other cats, he may do well in a home with a well-matched cat friends; we ALWAYS recommend slow intros into the home/early separation for cats/dogs as they get to know one another. Indigo has the CUTEST prance and loves to play fetch. He is treat motivated which makes continued training and intros to people much more of a breeze. Housetrained, Crate Trained, around 55 lbs. Neutered, Vaccinated, Vetted, ready to be yours! Indigo adoption donation is sponsored. You might be wondering what “sponsored” means. A dog is sponsored when their foster or a donor loves them so much that they cover the adoption donation for a future adopter. This in hopes that the pup finds his or her forever family ASAP!

Story
Are you ready for a lifetime of luck with Clover? Clover is estimated to be about 3 months old and is a darling girl with a taste for adventure. She may be the only girl in her litter, but she knows how to keep up with her brothers. Sh e is looking for an active family who can make sure to keep her busy mind and body happy with lots of enrichment and adventures. Clover   weighs about 25lbs now, and we estimate she will be at least 70lbs when fully grown. Clover   came to us with her five brothers from a family in rural Yolo County. The family didn't plan on having the litter, so rather than sending them to the shelter, we were able to place the kiddos in foster homes until they are adopted. These kiddos need individual homes with large dog-savvy families who are equipped to take on smart cookies. Clover is the wrestling champion of the group. She is the first to instigate playtime and loves nothing more than roughhousing with her brothers. Once all the fun has been had, she will find a lap for nap time and will snuggle right in. She has been a rockstar at all of our adoption events and is a true social butterfly who loves to make friends wherever she goes. Sh e has been doing great learning her basic manners and needs a family dedicated to continuing her training and socialization to help her be the best girl she can be. She would be a great candidate for group puppy classes. Clover has done well meeting new dogs and would love a playful dog in her new home to help mentor her. She could also do well as an only dog with lots of opportunities to socialize with dog friends. We haven't seen Clover around cats, but she may do well living with dog-savvy cats with a slow introduction and proper supervision . Clover could be a wonderful addition to a family with kids 10 years or older. Clover has been doing well with her housetraining, but she is still learning and needs a family who can be patient with her while she is learning and continue to be consistent with her training. She has been doing well with her crate training. She hasn't spent too much time completely alone and would do best with a family who has a schedule that will allow them to slowly acclimate her to being home alone. Clover is such a wonderful girl and she can't wait to meet her fur-ever family. If you think that might be you, submit an adoption application today!   Clover 's adoption fee is $350.   Apply to adopt here!  https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/   Applications are also available on the website (www.yolospca.org)  It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application. The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption. For more information about an animal, please email dogs@yolospca.org. For more general questions, please see our website at www.yolospca.org. March 10, 2025, 1:11 pm

Story
Potato is just a soft, sensitive guy who’s trapped in the body of a large dog. While he can be shy at first, he opens up quickly and loves affection and attention. When he wants to connect with you, he’ll put his paws on your lap and lean in for pets. He’s really easy to walk on a leash, and naturally walks loose-leash as he enjoys smelling interesting things along the way. He’s a real sweetheart and deserves a loving, stable home.   Potato is treat-motivated, patient, pays attention to his person, and sits. He has had some reactivity when other dogs bark at him and has some barrier reactivity to certain dogs, although this has improved significantly since he was neutered.   This soulful guy has been waiting at the shelter since June 2024. He would make an incredible addition to a family that can provide the structure and love this sweetheart needs. He is 3 years old and weighs around 75 lbs. Email adopt@yoloshelter.org if you are interested in meeting Potato.   All animals are up-to-date on vaccinations (including rabies if over 4 months old), microchipped, and spayed or neutered. All dogs have been been vaccinated with DHPP and Bordatella (kennel cough) and heartworm tested negative (if over 6 months).    All cats have been vaccinated with FVRCP and current on flea control. Meet Rusty! Rusty is a sweet and playful 1.5-year-old black and white neutered male who’s looking for a new home due to his owner’s housing situation. Rusty has been an inside dog his whole life and is fully potty trained. He’s also up-to-date on all his vaccinations. This kind boy has never been around children, but he adores squeaky toys and would love a home where he can keep enjoying them. Rusty is not currently at the shelter, as this is a courtesy post. If you’re interested in giving Rusty the loving home he deserves, please contact Lauri at 530-220-8992 or email richardson2009@comcast.net. Let’s help Rusty find his perfect forever home! Story
Meet Max the Healer! &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 Max is a 2-year-old, 61 lb bundle of love and energy looking for a new home where he can thrive. Raised since he was a puppy, Max has been a loyal companion to his owner, who unfortunately can no longer care for him due to medical conditions. Max is incredibly friendly, loves being around people, and has lived with children. While he isn’t crate-trained and would do best in a cat-free home (he loves to chase), Max’s affectionate and playful personality makes him a joy to be around. He loves to be near his person and would make a great ranch dog with the right training, as he has a natural herding instinct and plenty of energy. Max came in with his buddy Bernie (A214004) though they do not need to be adopted together.  Help Max find the perfect home where he can continue to spread his love and loyalty! All animals are up-to-date on vaccinations (including rabies if over 4 months old), microchipped, and spayed or neutered. Story
Meet Bernie! &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 Bernie is a loyal and protective companion who’s looking for a patient and loving home.  Bernie weighs ~43lbs. Raised since he was a puppy, Bernie has been a dedicated friend to his owner, who sadly can no longer care for him due to medical conditions. At first, Bernie can be a bit standoffish and protective, but once he gets to know you, he’s all love—expect plenty of kisses and affection! He does best when kept away from visitors until he feels comfortable. Bernie has lived with other dogs and could adapt well with the right canine companions. In foster, Bernie has done well with the foster's cats but any introduction should be taken slowly. Max (A213871) though they do not need to be adopted together. Bernie loves balls and playing catch!  Bernie could benefit from leash training to help him become the best version of himself. With a caring and understanding family, Bernie is sure to thrive and bring lots of joy to his new home. Help Bernie find his forever home! All animals are up-to-date on vaccinations (including rabies if over 4 months old), microchipped, and spayed or neutered. Story
Fizz the Fuzz is ready to be your next friend! Fizz is estimated to be about 2 years old and has the perfect amount of energy to motivate you to go out on an adventure and also convince you to spend the afternoon cuddled on the couch. She is as sweet as can be and has quickly stolen our hearts with her ray-of-sunshine personality.  She has an infectious smile and she makes sure there is never a dull moment when she is around. Fizz currently weighs around 50lbs. She is fully grown but may fill out a little as she came to us underweight. Fizz came to us from a Central California shelter after being found as a stray. She waited a month there to be adopted and then found herself on the euthanasia list due to a lack of space at the overcrowded shelter. We are so grateful one of our foster families stepped up to take her in and we have been in love with her ever since. Fizz is a happy and curious girl who loves to explore the outdoors. She loves to be out and about and makes friends everywhere she goes. She would make a great brewery and hiking buddy. She loves to play and is the goofiest girl when she finds a toy she really likes. She has learned how to play fetch and it's a great way to help tire her out after a long day at work. Fizz is so smart and eager to learn, especially if a tasty treat is involved. She has done great with her basic manners training and has matured a lot while in foster care. She would benefit from some continued training to help her be the best girl she can be. Fizz needs a family dedicated to making sure she gets her daily exercise and mental stimulation. Fizz loves other dogs and would be a great playmate for an active medium/large dog. She could also do well as an only dog if she has lots of opportunities to make dog friends. She hasn't been to a dog park, but she seems like she could do well as a dog park/doggie daycare dog. Fizz thinks cats are a little too fun to chase and would do best in a kitty-free home. Fizz has done great with kids and could be a wonderful addition to a family with kids 7 years or older. Fizz has been doing great with her house and crate training. She tends to have accidents when in new places, but once she settles into a routine, she is good about going outside. She may whine a little when she first goes into her crate but sleeps through the night well and is content to hang out in there when her foster family is gone. Fizz has done well being home alone for short periods. Due to her size and personality, her ideal home would be a house with a yard. Despite her being a husky mix, Fizz is very quiet and only ever barks when she is excited and playing. Fizz is so deserving of the best home and we know it's out there. If you think that could be you, submit an adoption application today!   Fizz's adoption fee is $250.   Apply to adopt here!  https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/   Applications are also available on the website (www.yolospca.org)  It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application.
