Story
Lycaon was found in traffic near genesis and the 805. He is a very loving lil man who insist on sticking his long snoot between your shoulder and neck and nuzzling. Lycaon would thrive in a family that gives him excessive opportunities to run. Lycaon shows signs of a past with trauma and cowards/flinches with sudden moment and raised hands. He is extremely trusting and affection with his current care taker but has shown aggression towards various other humans and dogs he’s met in day-to-day life. There is not an apparent similarity in the type of person or dog that triggers this fear/aggression response. He would need to go to a home who understands reactive dogs limitations and would work through this challenges safely. Lycaon knows basic commands and recalls perfectly. He is also a ball-obsessed dog to the point where ball time should be limited as to not perpetuate stereotypic behavior.

Story
This beautiful boy is Maui, a 4 year old Australian Cattle Dog mix who weighs about 40-45 lbs. Maui knows over a dozen tricks and learns quickly: he knows many of his commands in both English and Spanish, and as hand signals! Maui is house and crate trained. Maui is good with people and will happily welcome them into the house by bringing his favorite toys. He loves being pet all over his face, especially his soft black ears. He will do best in a house with one or two adults. Maui plays well with some dogs, especially smaller dogs and other heelers, but he tends to want to herd big, fluffy dogs. He loves playing fetch and showing off his jump catches with a frisbee. Maui is a great buddy for running, hiking, or backpacking and will snuggle with you in the tent or in your lap after a big day outdoors. He is used to a busy neighborhood and does fine with cars, bikes, and loud noises, but prefers space when walking past other dogs on leash. Maui is ready to meet you!

Story
How this pet arrived: This pet was brought in by a community member. Why this pet is the one for you:Meet Precious, a certified good girl who definitely lives up to her name! Wondering why this pawsitively adorable pooch is donning goggles in her photo? Is it a fashion statement? Is her future so bright, she's gotta wear shades? While the answer could very well be "yes" to both of these statements, the main reason is because Precious came into our care with a serious wound on her leg and she's been receiving laser treatments to help it heal. She has been a wonderful patient and our medical team has fallen head over heels for her, as have her caregivers who describe her as "very sweet, loves attention and ear rubs, and just wants to lay in your lap." If you are interested in adding some more Precious-ness to your life, come on by our San Diego Campus and meet this special gal today! At SDHS:This pet has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed/neutered. This pet is now ready for their new home! Primary Color: Brown Brindle Weight: 66 Age: 8yrs 8mths 2wks

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.**Meet Paloma: The Snuggle Queen and Couch Connoisseur** Introducing Paloma, a 6 year-old mix who has mastered the art of relaxation and cuddling. Once a skittish diva with a flair for chaos, Paloma has mellowed into the ultimate indoor enthusiast. These days, she’s all about lounging on the couch, soaking up belly rubs, and keeping her humans company. Paloma is selective with her canine friends, preferring the company of well-mannered boy dogs who understand her need for space. While she’s initially reserved, Paloma’s personality shines through once she feels comfortable and secure in her environment. Hiking and camping? Not her style. Paloma would much rather curl up on a comfy dog bed than explore the great outdoors. Mornings with Paloma are anything but dull. She greets each day with a breakfast performance that’s nothing short of spectacular. Once her meal is over, she’s back to her favorite spot, ready for a day of cozy relaxation. But here’s the catch—Paloma needs an owner with a strong personality who won’t let her run the show. She’s clever and quick to test boundaries, so her ideal human must be able to keep her in check and not give in to her charming ways too often. With a unique blend of quirkiness and calm, Paloma is the perfect companion for someone who values comfort and a touch of personality in their furry friend. Adopt Paloma, and prepare to welcome a laid-back, loving, and slightly quirky dog into your home.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 6, 2024, 7:50 pm

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please review our Adoption Process before filling out an application.  If you would like to try a Foster to Adopt trial, please fill out an Adoption Application.  If you are only interested in temporarily Fostering one of our rescues, please fill out a Foster Application.   Meet Maddie! We would love for you to meet this beauty! She is such a special dog. She is a TRUE mutt. We have no idea what her breed is and we wouldn't be surprised she is a super mutt with anything from shepherd to pits to some small breed dogs. She is the perfect medium size dog in the mid 30s and a young adult dog who is NOT very active but active enough to be happy on walks, runs, hikes or even dog parks but also thrive in a home with a yard. We can see her doing well in an apartment seeting as long as her adopter is looking to take her off leash places (once trained for recall) so she can run and have fun. Maddie is SO loving. She is truly a great dog who does GREAT with all dogs and just wants to be friends, I mean if somebody wants to bossy or be a bully to her she won't have it and is not a push over but she is not interested in any shenanigans but be friends and have fun. She also ADORES humans from men, women and children alike. An ARWOB volunteer spend some time with Maddie in June and this is what she had to say: ......'Maddie was very excited and energetic when she first arrived to the adoption event, but it didn't take long for her to settle in and relax. She's literally the perfect size, <40-45 lbs, and I could see her DNA test coming back as primarily blue heeler/cattle dog and pit being the second breed. I saw the best qualities of both breeds in her.    She needs more practice walking on a leash, but was catching on quickly in the short time I was with her. I didn't experience any leash reactivity despite there being other leash reactive dogs at the event, but she managed those interactions well and did end up meeting a few new dogs from ARWOB with no issues. With more training and socialization on a leash, I would expect Maddie to have 0 leash issues in the future and her to be a very fun dog to walk with.    She was in the process of learning how to sit and it was very obvious that she'll be easily trainable as she was eager to please and she appreciated all of the 'Good Girl!' positive reinforcements as well as treats and pets for rewards. Maddie seemed to really crave human attention and interaction as she leaned or rubbed on me on many occasions. She was very sweet and gentle with the several kids that we interacted with during the event, so could fit into a family setting with kids of any age. '....... We would LOVE to find an adopter for her and in the meantime perhaps a foster home. Maddie has not been cat tested and we suggest a foster to adopt trial with her if you have kitties at home. Foster to adopt trials for any reason are GREAT as it allows adopters to really get to know the dogs before they adopt.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you would like to meet one of our animals, PLEASE fill out an adoption application.
