Story
** Currently fostered in Houston Texas, but available for adoption out of state via rescue transportation, included in adoption fee. Offer Zoom call to virtually meet prior to adoption. Meet Barkley! This sweet baby wandered up on someone's property. He was wearing a harness on that had the brand name boots and barkley, so that's where the finder got his name. Barkley was chipped, but unfortunately it was not registered. It shows that he was adopted in January2023, and that he is estimated about 5 years of age. He currently weighs around 55 lbs and we believe him to be a border collie/cattle dog mix. He has energy and he loves to run and play, but can be a couch potato too. His favorite thing in the world is to play fetch with a ball! Barkley likes other dogs if they are female, but has not been a fan of males. We believe it's from a lack of social time with other dogs because he doesn't come off as just an aggressive pup, he just seems like he was kept in a yard and ignored a lot of the time prior to rescue and may not be familiar with most dogs. Barkley clearly knows his basic commands, such as sit, kennel, shake and settle. He is highly toy and food motivated and responds wonderfully to focused training. With continued training, we could even see him being an agility pup! Barkley is crate trained, housebroken and does well on leash. He is fully vetted, meaning he us neutered, up to date on all vaccines, microchipped and on monthly preventions for flea, tick and heartworm. For more information on how to adopt Barkley, contact us at MokasMission@Gmail.com for an application.

Story
Young Marcy, born October 2023 is a Mexican mix with some Australian cattle dog x lab (her sibling was DNA tested and basically had just about every breed you could list out). Marcy is playful and energetic and would like a home with a yard and a family who enjoys getting out to adventure – walking and swimming are things she enjoys. We think Marcy is part of a litter that was dumped near the sanctuary and taken in briefly by a neighbouring farm. When the farmer got up in the morning several of the dogs had already wandered off, including Marcy – her 4 siblings taken into the SPCA PV. A month or so later, she turned up crying at the sanctuary, having found them again. And she’s now safe in the sanctuary. Marcy is playful and friendly – she likes people and other dogs. She did spend some time in a foster home until there was room for her, so has some basic commands and house trained. Marcy has been tested with cats – she was curious and a bit confused, and eventually thought perhaps they might want to play. Marcy is excited around toys and bones and will sometimes growl so other dogs don’t take them away from her. She could really use the attention that a real home would afford her. Marcy is spayed, healthy and vaccinated. She has siblings living in Vancouver, Bellingham and Vancouver island and all are thriving. Flight availability to Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, Seattle and Vancouver island (with less frequency), will resume in fall and she’d love to have a foster or forever home to give her this wonderful chance. If you think she might be a fit for you, write us at pvcaadoptions@gmail.com and tell us a little about yourself, or go direct to our application: https://forms.office.com/r/b1Fkq3u4zw Video: https://www.facebook.com/spcapv/videos/1708589223214864

Story
Ready for a new adventure buddy? Look no further than Stella! This girl has lots of energy to explore and play outside. She can get along well with other friendly dogs and has lived with kids previously. Stella is calm and relaxed at home on the couch when needed to be left alone, as long as she has her exercise needs met. Cattle dogs tend to need lots of enrichment and activities to keep them busy, and Stella is no different! She loves to learn and is very food motivated!Stella has shown to have a high prey drive with cats and wildlife, and should not live with small animals. She will need to learn good recall and basic obedience with her new family before having off leash adventures. She is a Houdini on leash, and will need a strong leash and harness that she cannot chew through. She loves to play a game of "Catch me if you can", so managing her on leash will be essential before taking her off leash for her safety.Come down to the West Vancouver Branch between 12pm and 3pm, Tuesday through to Sunday to meet Stella.
