Story
This is Winky, a 4 year old 13 pound Aussiedoodle (hypoallergenic!). We have had her since she was a tiny puppy. She is HIGHLY intelligent and very energetic when she isn't sprawled out on the couch. She is also deaf, but has been taught sign-language and quickly learns new signs. She does have a sensitive tummy. She loves people and is never shy to meet a stranger. She loves to sit near/on you all day long, so be prepared for a dog that loves to be near you. Because she is deaf, she startles easily when she is sleeping, and young children do not always understand this and she doesn't like it when she is surprised. When she is sleeping we knock on the floor before we touch her so that she is aware that we are there. She is shy around other dogs that are bigger than her and prefers to be with her humans. If you are looking for a dog that loves to be near you and is highly personable she is the dog for you.

Mixed mutt! ODHS does not breed label (unless there’s official paperwork), as studies show it is nearly impossible to tell the exact breed of each dog based off of their appearance. More "sought out breeds may have a higher adoption donation) Adoption donations are to be made via cash, or credit/debit card. There is a $5 fee to run cards. We do not accept checks for adoption fees. Please remember to bring a martingale collar and leash (non-retractable) with you the day of the adoption. We typically have adoption events on Wednesdays 5-7pm, Fridays 6-8pm, and 11 to 3pm. Our adoption center is located at 3602 Lafayette Blvd, Suite 101, Fredericksburg, VA 22408. It's important that you keep an eye on your emails for any changes or updates during the adoption process. Old Dominion Humane Society is a volunteer based organization. We are run completely by volunteers, who also have full time jobs, so we appreciate your patience. Currently, the average timeframe for a response to your application is 1 week.
