Story
Meet Biggie, a two year old Staffie/German Shepherd weighing in at 55 pounds.Biggie is an enthusiastic boy who is ready for his next adventure. He came in with two other dogs, Cam and Nick Fury, and seemed to get along well with them. Biggie is actually Nick Fury`s brother and we have their DNA results, they are quite the mix but the two main breeds in them are the ones listed. Biggie still has a lot of puppy energy and is working on his manners such as `off` and his leash work (the leash isn`t a toy). Despite this Biggie is eager to learn and takes his treats gentle. He knows the commands `Sit`, `lay down` and `shake`, smart boy! It can take a few minutes out of the kennel for him to get his wiggles out but once he does he is happy to follow your lead. He was previously in a home with cats and kids and the owner said he did well with both. We think Biggie would make a fantastic dog for someone who wants an active companion, maybe your future hiking or jogging partner? If you are interested in adopting this pet please fill out an adoption questionnaire at www.yakimahumane.org. A Yakima Humane Society staff member will contact you once your questionnaire has been processed. Adopters are welcome to visit the adoption center Monday-Saturday.A Picture says 1000 words...right? While an animal`s picture draws interest, the reality is that as a potential adopter most people would like as much information as possible about a pet. The Yakima Humane Society is an open admission shelter. What does this mean? Over 90% of the pets at the adoption center arrive as strays, no history of behavior or medical care is known. Adding a pet to your family is a big responsibility. Please research carefully and remember that adoption is life saving. Adopt Don`t Shop.
We'll also keep you updated on Nick Fury's adoption status with email updates.

Story
Meet Nick Fury, a two year old Staffie/German Shepherd mix weighing in at around 80 pounds. Apart from being the glue that hold our Marvel Universe together, Nick Fury is a friendly boy who came in with two other dogs, Biggie and Cam. Biggie is actually Nick Fury’s brother and we have their DNA results, they are quite the mix but the two main breeds in them are the ones listed. Nick Fury walks well on a leash and is a very happy boy. He likes treats and will sit for them. We think Nick Fury has the perfect amount of energy to be a great dog for almost any home, he doesn’t have too much but also isn’t a total couch potato. He was previously in an home with cats and Kids and did well. Nick Fury has met several dogs since coming to us and has done really well. Some dogs he likes to play with and rough house with while others he is perfectly fine just coexisting with. After all he has done to save the world, will you open your home to a retire superhero? Story
Meet Beau, a ten year old Staffy mix weighing around 72 pounds. It’s always so sad to see animals come to us, but especially when they are seniors and you know they spent their entire lives devoted to their family. Beau’s owner was no longer able to care for him so he gave him to a homeless person who was also unable to care for him so he brought him in to us. Beau has enjoyed time in one of our staff member’s offices and has quickly become a shelter favorite. He keeps a clean kennel and loves to go on walks, walking very politely on leash. Beau is a bit of an attention hog and likes to be around people and wants to follow you around, he doesn’t like to be locked in the office when all the action is happening in the lobby! Beau gets along fabulously with all the dogs he has met, big or small, happy or grumpy. He enjoys his treats and will “sit” and “shake”! Beau also likes his toys and will even carry around two in his mouth just to show you. He is an older gentleman so a dental into the future may benefit him and he really appreciates soft beds. If you have more of a laid-back lifestyle and enjoys the finer things life has to offer, take a second look at Beau. This pet is available for adoption at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. Story
Meet Bernie, a nine month old Boxer/Pit Bull mix weighing in around 50 pounds. Bernie was found running around and brought to us as a stray. He is still very puppy and we joke about him going “squirrel” every time he sees something interesting. This friendly goober is really silly and will keep you laughing. He enjoys walking on his leash and needs just a bit of correction so he doesn’t pull. Bernie has met another dog while with us and did extremely well, he would probably do well in a home with another dog but also as an only dog. This pet is available for adoption at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center.  If you recognize this animal please contact the adoption center at 509-457-6854.Did you know YHS lets local community members FOSTER TO ADOPT??That’s where you and the pet make sure you’re a good fit for one another by having a fun sleepover prior to finalizing your adoption.
