Story
Wilma is being fostered in NJ. Wilma is a wonderful companion and a very sweet lady. She will gently take a piece of kibble or a treat from your hand. She loves treats and biscuits! Wilma also likes back rubs and sitting nearby her person. Walking is another favorite activity, and she will tilt her head to listen to the sounds in the neighborhood. She is a gentle walker, doesn't pull, but will stop to listen. She will respond with a deep bark to other barking dogs. She is not afraid of dogs and does not respond aggressively, but if a dog continues to bark at her, she will also keep barking. Wilma gets along with the cat in her foster home as well as the rabbit. She will sit at the door to indicate she needs to go outside, and will go to her bed to nap or sleep for the night after she has visited outside. She's just a sweetheart who wants to be with her person! BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.

Story
Hello there! My name is Lucy, and I’m a 2 1/2-year-old black and white Staffordshire terrier. I weigh a perfect 40 pounds, and I’m spayed. I’m a pro at walking on a leash and I take corrections very well. I’m not fond of other dogs so I need to be the only dog in the home. I do absolutely adore children. I’ve been the best with all the kids in my foster home and playing with them is my favorite pastime. My guilty pleasures? Oh, I have a few! I love shin bones slathered in peanut butter, and I can never resist a good game of tug with my rope toys or a fun fetch with sticks. Car rides are my jam, and if you’re wondering about my Thursday routine, it includes a special treat from McDonald’s – a cheeseburger happy meal that I just can’t get enough of! I’m all about those butt scratches and cuddling up in your lap. While I haven’t been cat tested yet, I can be if you’d like. I was rescued from Memphis Animal Services right in the nick of time from being euthanized, and now I’m looking for my forever home where I can shower my people with love and protection. I may bark at strangers as I’m quite protective, but I’m all wags and smiles once they introduce themselves and pet me. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who’s amazing with people and ready to fill your life with joy, I’m your girl. I am in Burkesville, KY but can be transported to other states for the right adopter. Let’s meet and start our adventure together!

Story
My name is Gage, and I'm a 3 1/2-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier mix with a handsome brown and white coat. I'm a sturdy fellow, weighing 72 pounds. I've been neutered and vaccinated. I'm potty, crate, and leash trained. I get excited on walks and can pull on the leash at times but have been working on this. I have a strong prey drive. If I spot a cat or a small animal, my instincts kick in. But don't worry, I respond well to corrections and am otherwise a perfect gentleman. I'm very smart and pick up new things quickly. I'll even bark to let you know when it's time for a bathroom break. I absolutely adore head and butt scratches, and I'm quite the love bug. I enjoy sitting in laps, getting petted, and just chilling on the couch with my humans. I have this adorable habit of scooting up against you for pets, and I'm known to lean in for some extra love. I know basic commands like sit and shake, and I'm always eager to learn more. I do have a habit of chewing, so I'd benefit from some additional training to refine my manners. I love treats, bones, peanut butter, rope toys, and anything that's hard, chewable, and safe for dogs. My past is a bit of a mystery. You might notice some scars on me, and one of my ears looks like it's been through a lot. We don’t know if I may have been used as a bait dog or what I have been through as a stray surviving on the streets. I do have some behaviors that may be a result of my unknown past. I do guard my food, toys, and bones, so I'd fit best in a home with older children who understand the importance of giving me space during meals and playtime. I tend to eat quickly, so a slow feeder would be a great idea for me. I thrive as the only pet or with dogs who are more on the submissive side and won't challenge me. Despite my past, I am rather gentle at times and enjoy sweet moments like holding your hand with my paw. I'm looking forward to a brighter future with a family who can be patient with me and show me love. I am up to date on vaccines, neutered and heartworm negative. Currently, I'm in Burkesville, Kentucky, but for the right home, I can be transported to nearby states. If you're looking for a smart, loving companion who's eager to start a new chapter, I'm your boy. Fill out an application today!

Story
Meet Proud Mary, a mature female bully mix. We suspect Mary is staffordshire terrier / bull terrier mix because of her large rabbit ears. After months in a Georgia shelter, Proud Mary was just two days from euthanasia when our rescue agreed to take her, and this silly loving girl has been lounging in comfort ever since. Mary is a lap dog at heart and lives for an invite up onto the couch and a belly rub. Mary does not bark excessively inside the home though she will ‘talk’ to you when she wants attention. She loves morning walks, snacks and rolling in the grass. Mary would do best in a fenced yard or with an owner committed to daily walks though at 9 years old now, they don’t need to be very long. Mary is ‘barrier’ reactive (barking) and would not enjoy dog park visits. While Mary loves kids, we do not recommend her for a household with small children as she may easily knock them over. The BasicsAge: 9 yrsWeight: 55 lbsSpayed/Neutered: YesMicrochipped: YesVaccines Up-to-Date: YesOn Heartworm Prevention: YesHouse-Trained: Yes (perfect)Crate-Trained: YesLeash Skills: Needs work when excitedMedical: Clean bill of health from vet.
