Story
Rita is an extremely affectionate cat. She was left behind by some neighbors who moved away. We have been feeding her for the past three months. However, we realized she cannot defend herself and often shows up injured. The last time this happened, we decided to bring her inside to treat her wounds. She is currently receiving medication, has been dewormed, and is improving. Unfortunately, we cannot keep her as we already have other cats in the house, including one who is 15 years old and very stressed by Rita’s presence. Rita is incredibly loving, always asking to be held. Despite being brought indoors, she hasn’t complained at all. Even when I tend to her wounds, she kneads the whole time, as if she’s comforting herself.

Story
Pluto and Flame were rescued together as kittens and have been inseparable siblings ever since. They thrive together and prefer not to be apart. While they haven't gotten along with other pets, they've formed a strong bond as a dynamic duo. Due to my declining health at just 27, I can no longer care for them or work. I'm seeking a loving household where they can continue to be cherished companions. Flame is a vigilant guard-kitty who diligently alerts to any unusual occurrences in his environment. His persistent meows signal various needs—from food, water, and litter box checks to his sister's assistance or a door left ajar. I've learned to trust his instincts as he keeps a watchful eye on their surroundings. Pluto, on the other hand, is affectionate and playful. She enjoys interacting with toys and has a particular fondness for lunch meats such as chicken, ham, and turkey. Pluto isn't interested in catnip but loves to play with toys.

Story
Lucy and Ethel are litter mates that I rescued 10 years ago when they were kittens. They lived outdoors and weren’t well cared for. They are super sweet cats and I truly hate the thought of rehoming them. However, as I age my allergies for pet dander has gotten extremely worse, intolerable. I started doing allergy shots and have gotten no relief. My physical health is suffering and they sure need and deserve all the love, cuddles, and pets. They still have their claws and are strictly indoor cats. They have to stay together! They typically hide when a visitor comes. They tolerate my grandkids but are used to a quiet home with no other pets. Ethel has to be on rx dry food diet from two prior issues with bladder stones. I’m so concerned about finding a loving home, that I will continue to provide at my expense, the rx food just for peace of mind and her care. They are not on any medications. I have the paperwork on all their up to date shots and microchipping.

Story
Leyla's Personality Beauty and brains, sweet and just a little bit sassy. This little charmer, whose nickname is "Miss Bean," will win you over in no time. Leyla loves hanging out with her foster parents and is always close. She likes to lay next to you on the couch - just provide a nice, soft fleece blanket. Leyla is super friendly and loves, loves, loves being brushed. She enjoys a gentle routine and rewards you with soft purrs and gentle head butts. Leyla came into SPCA's care pregnant - delivering six healthy kittens two days later. Once her kittens were weaned and adopted, Leyla became more playful as she learned to be a kitten again! Leyla goes nuts over a catnip-filled pillow. She sometimes gets the zoomies and chases just about anything that moves. Miss Bean won't wake you up for breakfast in the morning, but waits patiently by your side until you pet her, then she starts the day with the loudest purr. She loves to sleep on a soft blanket on the bed at night and occasionally chases your toes under the covers. Her favorite things are catnip toys, getting brushed and showing off her trick sitting on command for treats. If Leyla can’t find you, she lets out a little meow, and comes running when you call. She loves people, and is not shy at all. She is a perfect little companion. What Type of Home Leyla Needs This sweet, sassy girl needs a home where people are around for her to hang out with. She is not demanding, but likes to be near people. Leyla likes to be in charge of her territory and needs to be the only pet - no other cats or dogs. When Leyla is unsettled or anxious about new things, she can get a little over-stimulated and nip your hands - so no young children now or in the future. An older, cat-savvy child who has lived with cats before might be ok (over about 12 years of age). This behavior has subsided in her foster home now that she has settled in. Where Leyla Came From Leyla was rescued from outdoors by a kind man who found her abandoned in a park shortly before giving birth to six healthy kittens (all adopted). She was such a sweet, nurturing mama. Now its time for Leyla to have a home of her own.PLEASE NOTE:  we only adopt to residents of the DC metro area, which includes DC, Prince Georges and Montgomery Counties in MD, and Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William, and Loudoun Counties in VA.
