Story
Valentine is an affectionate and playful cat who attaches strongly to specific people. While she is shy and nervous around new people, once she trusts you, she will want to cuddle and play with you as much as possible. She has been a member of our family for about 7 years, but our son has developed an allergy to cats that makes it no longer possible for us to keep her. We are looking for a warm and loving home for our warm and loving cat.

Story
Lucy and Ethel are litter mates that I rescued 10 years ago when they were kittens. They lived outdoors and weren’t well cared for. They are super sweet cats and I truly hate the thought of rehoming them. However, as I age my allergies for pet dander has gotten extremely worse, intolerable. I started doing allergy shots and have gotten no relief. My physical health is suffering and they sure need and deserve all the love, cuddles, and pets. They still have their claws and are strictly indoor cats. They have to stay together! They typically hide when a visitor comes. They tolerate my grandkids but are used to a quiet home with no other pets. Ethel has to be on rx dry food diet from two prior issues with bladder stones. I’m so concerned about finding a loving home, that I will continue to provide at my expense, the rx food just for peace of mind and her care. They are not on any medications. I have the paperwork on all their up to date shots and microchipping.

Story
Agnes was adopted as a kitten with her littermate into our house with another cat and a dog four years ago. As she has gotten older she has grown to dislike her four legged housemates and hisses at them. She is affectionate and loving to humans, even guests in our home. She rolls over and shows her belly asking to be scratched. She also says hello with a welcome meow. Unfortunately, she wants to be the sole star of the home and avoids the others (except at mealtime). We are hoping she can find some peace in a singular animal household with loving humans. Agnes is healthy, she has all her shots up to date, and she is microchipped.

Story
Meet the most mellow, sweetheart cat ever, Ruth!! We're hoping to find her a new forever home without dogs because she's scared of ours. Ruth has been exceptionally unproblematic: great with her litter box, appetite for wet and dry food, good with nail trims, easy to place in a carrier, well-behaved in the car, no health issues noted by the vet, etc. She's the most mellow cat we've ever met—she's happy to hang out in one spot all day and greet you with a few tiny meows and a head bop when you pass by. She loves cuddles and will rub her face against you if you hold her and give her face kisses. She especially LOVES belly and above-the-tail scratches and being brushed (which always leads to her giving kisses). She would be the perfect companion for someone in an apartment as she is generally low-energy.

Story
Meet Fez, with his striking Asian Blue Tabby coat he's a vision of beauty. At just one year old, he's mastered the art of relaxation, basking in the warmth of the sun and delighting in playful antics with toys or fellow companions. His affection knows no bounds as he purrs contentedly by your side, craving nothing more than your companionship. He loves to lay next to your computer while you work in your office and will want to paw at your screen chasing the courser helping you work. Whether it's mingling with the family dog or kids, Fez's friendly nature knows no bounds. His athleticism adds a touch of grace to his every move. Fez is living the good life after a rough start in which he battled and beat FIP (feline infectious peritonitis). He's cured and should not require additional treatments. Fastidious in grooming, Fez takes pride in his pristine appearance, from his golden-yellow eyes that gleam in the sunlight to his sweet round face adds to his irresistible charm. But Fez is not just a handsome face, when mealtime arrives, get ready for a display of pure joy as Fez gracefully dances around your feet, eagerly anticipating the feast ahead. Fez isn't just a cat; he's become a beloved family member to his foster family. And now he's ready to bring warmth and joy into your home.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Story
Miles is a chonky cuddler who loves to eat and play! I adopted him over three years ago from a family in Washington state. He is about 11 years old. Vet has told me he is in good health and I have not noticed anything wrong physically. I am working all the time and about to move again, and I don’t want to put him through all that. I would rather him be with a family that will spend time playing with him. He would do best in a home with no dogs unless they are well behaved and chill. He can get used to dogs it just takes a long time. I do not know his behavior around other cats. Overall Miles is extremely chill, but when he is hungry or wants you to pick him up he will definitely let you know.

Story
Rashita is a rescued cat from the shelter, we got her 7 years ago. She was very scared when we got her as a kitten she was a strayed cat before getting to the shelter . At only 8 weeks old we adopted her and has been with us since we are the only family she knows or has been. Although she’s is very scared of the outdoors she loves to peak her head out to watch the birds chirp in the mornings . We have a dog that is 12 now and their relationship hasn’t been the best. Rashita has her own room with her litter and food all to her self she’s very to her self doesn’t like people hides when we have visitor. Her only major problem is . She pees on beds sofa and anything she finds on the floor from time to time. I attribute this to anxiety or anger towards to dog or whenever she misses a bit of food or water. Never goes a day without eating and pees in her litter daily . We don’t know what else to do. Maybe is the dog the kids or us she doesn’t like n would enjoy a solo family instead.

Story
Nickey was found by a friend on the street as a baby. After nearly 5 years this friend was overwhelmed by some big life changes and could not care for the cat anymore anymore. I adopted him in 2022, but recently moved to a much smaller room long-term with other roommates who do not want a cat in the house. Nickey is not able to roam and is confined to a very small room, where he does not have the comfort he needs to thrive. He usually had lots of room to run around and play- otherwise he gets angsy. He would be most comfortable in a home where he has free roam, cat tower and scratching posts. He had lived with multiple cats and dogs before and can get along with new people easily. After so much change and restriction in his life, he really just needs a consistent forever home where he will feel free and loved the rest of his years.

Story
Leyla's Personality Beauty and brains, sweet and just a little bit sassy. This little charmer, whose nickname is "Miss Bean," will win you over in no time. Leyla loves hanging out with her foster parents and is always close. She likes to lay next to you on the couch - just provide a nice, soft fleece blanket. Leyla is super friendly and loves, loves, loves being brushed. She enjoys a gentle routine and rewards you with soft purrs and gentle head butts. Leyla came into SPCA's care pregnant - delivering six healthy kittens two days later. Once her kittens were weaned and adopted, Leyla became more playful as she learned to be a kitten again! Leyla goes nuts over a catnip-filled pillow. She sometimes gets the zoomies and chases just about anything that moves. Miss Bean won't wake you up for breakfast in the morning, but waits patiently by your side until you pet her, then she starts the day with the loudest purr. She loves to sleep on a soft blanket on the bed at night and occasionally chases your toes under the covers. Her favorite things are catnip toys, getting brushed and showing off her trick sitting on command for treats. If Leyla can’t find you, she lets out a little meow, and comes running when you call. She loves people, and is not shy at all. She is a perfect little companion. What Type of Home Leyla Needs This sweet, sassy girl needs a home where people are around for her to hang out with. She is not demanding, but likes to be near people. Leyla likes to be in charge of her territory and needs to be the only pet - no other cats or dogs. When Leyla is unsettled or anxious about new things, she can get a little over-stimulated and nip your hands - so no young children now or in the future. An older, cat-savvy child who has lived with cats before might be ok (over about 12 years of age). This behavior has subsided in her foster home now that she has settled in. Where Leyla Came From Leyla was rescued from outdoors by a kind man who found her abandoned in a park shortly before giving birth to six healthy kittens (all adopted). She was such a sweet, nurturing mama. Now its time for Leyla to have a home of her own.PLEASE NOTE:  we only adopt to residents of the DC metro area, which includes DC, Prince Georges and Montgomery Counties in MD, and Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William, and Loudoun Counties in VA.
