If you're interested in meeting me, please email adoptions@southwesthumane.org.My foster knows me better than anyone! Here's what they had to say about me during my time with them: Meet Ruby, a "paw-some" girl ready to be your best friend! One of the perks of adopting a foster dog is that we've had the chance to get to know Ruby and invest time in training her to be an ideal house guest. She's crate trained, potty trained, and knows commands like "sit," "shake," and "leave it." I tell her every day that she is a "good girl" and she wags her tail and gives me a look like, "Duh, I already know that!"Ruby's a total water lover-she's all about swimming, splashing, and having a jolly good time with her favorite dog soccer ball (aka the Jolly Ball). She's also obsessed with squeaky toys and plushies, so be prepared for some playtime fun.The way to Ruby's heart is giving her time to play. Whether it's swimming, digging, hiking, or just running around, Ruby is always looking for ways to decompress and recharge. Ruby loves her dog bed and is relaxed in the home.Ruby would thrive as the only dog in the home, as she can get overwhelmed by other pups. With a bit of patience, she'll warm up and become your loyal companion for life. Ready for a tail-wagging friend? Set up a meet and greet with Ruby-she's waiting for you! Story
Today is Saturday, which is the hardest day for crossword puzzles. We struggle with the Monday puzzle, to be fair. But you know who would be great at crosswords (if she could hold a pencil)? Luna, our 9 year old 55 pound Pitbull. She LOVES puzzles. And, since Luna is so smart, she'd probably know the answer to the clue "instrument that might contain dried beans". It's a maraca, she'd shout, as she'd shake her stuffy to demonstrate. What's a 5 letter word that means "find what you've been missing?" ADOPT, obviously! Luna was surrendered to a shelter when her owner could no longer care for her. We were asked to help as Luna suffers from allergies and her skin had been neglected for years. We also diagnosed her with a heart murmur. It's been weeks, but after the right medications and several baths, Luna's hair has grown back and her skin looks great! And, her heart work up showed the murmur is just something to monitor. Allergies are life long, so Luna's adopter will have to commit to maintaining her skin. This could mean a hypoallergenic diet or keeping her on allergy medications. It's often trial and error. But, our sweet Luna is worth all the upkeep. Luna approaches everything with gentle curiosity. She doesn't have an obvious prey drive and just studies the birds and squirrels in the yard. We have not seen Luna with cats, but suspect she'd just be interested in what they were up to. Luna is great with other dogs, large and small, and is not leash reactive. Friendly to everyone, Luna has been sweet with older kids that she's met. Besides puzzles, Luna loves car rides, cuddles, stuffies, and walking. She is good when left alone (after some initial complaints, she's gotten the hang of it) and is potty trained. Luna is happy to hang out with her people at bar patios and will charm all the other patrons. Luna is heartworm negative and is current on her flea and heartworm preventatives. She is currently on Apoquel, an allergy medication, and we will send her adopter with some to get started. If she has to stay on this, it could run about 150 dollars a month. Rapper whose #1 hit 'Timber' featured Ke$ha? Pitbull of course. The answer to everything! Apply to adopt at www.stumptownstrays.org

Story
Penny came to our rescue from a shelter in Bakersfield CA. She and six siblings from a previous litter (same mom) they were are covered with sarcoptic mange and in very bad shape. She is shy, her life so far has not been the best. She will need time, tons of patience and love. She is bonded to Pinky another dog 4 months younger that came from the same mom. We know its exceptional to consider two rescues but wanted to put is out there just in case someone would consider them.

Story
Video: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/TXfwK19QVn0 Bono is such a gentle, sweet boy. He is about 6 months old. He loves all his doggie friends, playing in the water and he is good with cats too. He is a bit shy when meeting people but 100% loving. He will make a great cuddle buddy, He seems to have had some sort of injury to his head when he was puppy because he has a bump on his head that makes it a little egg shaped but it doesn't impair or impact him at all. He is currently still in Oklahoma where he was rescued but he can only be adopted out of state where people treat animals well. He has to be prepaid and picked up directly from transport at one of our transport drop off locations below. If things don't work out for some reason, which rarely ever happens, we will either find a local foster to take him in or he will go back to Oklahoma on our next transport until a new home is found. www.facebook.com/desideratarescue/reviews Transport locations: - Washington State (Kennewick, Lynnwood/Edmonds, Seattle/Tacoma) - Oregon (Portland and Springfield) - Colorado (Ft Lupton) - Idaho (Heyburn and Boise/Meridian) - Utah (Ogden) - Wyoming (Evanston, Rock Springs, Laramie) - Illinois (Vandalia) - Indiana (Spiceland) - Ohio (Columbus) - Pennsylvania (Pittsburgh and Harrisburg) - New York (Buffalo and Albany) - Connecticut (Enfield) Vetting: neutered, microchipped, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, dhpp vaccine x 4, lepto vaccine x 2, dewormed, heartworm tested (negative), on monthly heartworm prevention, on monthly flea and tick prevention. Story
Video: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/E3uJN2hy6lg Maui and his 3 siblings were dumped on a rural property in Oklahoma. They were at risk of being shot so a good samaritan took them in. She reached out to us to see if we could take them into the rescue as she was a few days away from getting induced to give birth and couldn't handle 4 puppies on top of that. The puppies are about 4-5 months old and absolutely beautiful. 4 boys, one red, one black, one gray, and one sable. Maui is a total sweetheart and gets along great with all the dogs here. He loves going on walks and playing in the water and snoozing cuddled up with his buddies. He will make a great companion and/or family dog.
