Story
Meet Kenny, a 1.5-year-old male Pit Bull mix.Kenny is such a fun boy! He loves to get attention and is super cute. Kenny is a littler derpy but in the best way. He hasn't had a lot of training and is strong so will need a handler that can teach him not to pull on his leash. Kenny is still learning his manners, he just gets so excited with people that all thoughts seem to leave his brain. Kenny loves his belly rubs and has met a few dogs while staying here. He seems to prefer lower energy dogs or submissive dogs that enjoy polite play which makes us laugh since he is not what we would describe as a low-energy dog himself. Kenny is just a happy-go-lucky goofball who deserves only the best. This pet is available for adoption at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. If you recognize this animal please contact the adoption center at 509-457-6854.If you are interested in adopting this pet please fill out an adoption questionnaire at www.yakimahumane.org. A Yakima Humane Society staff member will contact you once your questionnaire has been processed. Adopters are welcome to visit the adoption center Monday-Saturday. A Picture says 1000 words...right? While an animal's picture draws interest, the reality is that as a potential adopter most people would like as much information as possible about a pet. The Yakima Humane Society is an open admission shelter. What does this mean? Over 90% of the pets at the adoption center arrive as strays, no history of behavior or medical care is known. Adding a pet to your family is a big responsibility. Please research carefully and remember that adoption is life saving. Adopt Don't Shop.

Meet Pops, a 4-year-old male Pit Bull mix.Pops is a dog that would like a household that has a canine companion with the same energy level as him. Pops could also do great in a house with kids over 10 years old. Pops is such a sweetheart, and he loves to press right up against you and even gives kisses. He is very easygoing and has lots of neck wrinkles you can't help but rub. He has the look of a seal when he lays down for belly rubs and will keep you laughing with his goofy personality and looks. He loves his treats, walks well on leash and will scoot towards you for more attention; what's not to love about this handsome boy? Story
Meet Gorda, a 5-year-old female Pit Bull/Staffie mix.Gorda was brought to the adoption center by City of Yakima animal control. She and her buddy Gordo were out running at large in Yakima in the extreme heat and needed help. Gorda has been calm going in and out of her kennel and even ignores the other dogs as they bark at her walking out of the kennels. Gorda has done extremely well with her dog and people tests, getting along with all people and dogs she has met. We really think Gorda has an exceptionally good temperament that could make an excellent family dog. Gorda is very treat motivated and a bit in the chunky side, she could benefit from loosing a couple pounds. This girl is actually rather small in stature and we enjoy that she doesn't try and pull us every which way on the leash. Gorda is such a good girl she knows her commands "sit" and "down" and will do just about anything for some gentle attention. You definitely have to meet this girl in person to see just how much of a doll she is.This pet is available for adoption at the Ellensburg Humane Society adoption center. Story
Meet Cannonball, a six year old Pitty/Boxer mix who is ready to make a splash into your life. Cannonball is a loving and affectionate Pitbull who thrives on companionship. He's a snuggle enthusiast who adores curling up next to you for cozy cuddles. His gentle and friendly nature makes him a wonderful companion for relaxing at home or enjoying a quiet evening. Cannonball is a fantastic walker on a leash. Whether it's a leisurely stroll through the park or a brisk walk around the neighborhood, he's well-behaved and enjoys his outdoor adventures. Cannonball went on a public dog walk recently and this is what they had to say about him! "My personal fave and would totally adopt if I didn't have so many pets at home. He was super responsive on the leash and didn't seem to care about treats. He was more interested in exploring and booty scratches. He didn't seem to have as much endurance so he enjoyed a leisurely stroll with no tension on the leash, walking beside or behind me 90% of the time."Cannonball would thrive in a home where he can be the center of attention and where snuggling is a daily activity. Cannonball would be a great fit for a family or individual looking for a loyal and loving companion. He would especially enjoy if this home didn't have any other dogs that were young and playful, Cannonball can be a little grouchy to new dogs (especially the youthful ones that get up in his face). If you do have another dog a meet and greet is required to make sure Cannonball will approve of his new roomie! With his affectionate nature and excellent leash manners, Cannonball is ready to bring joy and warmth to your life. He's looking for a loving home where he can share his snuggles and enjoy walks with his new family. If you are interested in adopting this pet please fill out an adoption questionnaire at www.yakimahumane.org. Story
Meet Pedro, a two and a half year old American Pit Bull Terrier mix.Pedro was brought to us as a stray and it is clear he hasn't had the easiest life. His ears are covered in scratches and scars that could be from a variety of thing such as a bad case of fleas. He also has some scars on other parts of his body, despite this Pedro doesn't hold his experiences against humans. Sure, it takes him a little longer to warm up than with other dogs, but five minutes outside and you will notice him inching closer to you for some attention and lovin. Because he is timid at first we do recommend a home without young kids, at least for the first little bit so he can warm up to you and feel secure without feeling pressured by the kids. At 55 pounds Pedro is a great size and he walks great on leash. We see him really coming out of his shell in his forever home. Story
Meet Yuko, a one and a half year old Pit Mix.Yuko has clearly had a rough life. He was owner surrendered to animal control and when he was brought in he was dehydrated, extremely skinny and moving slowly. He also had a very sensitive neck from improper use of a prong collar and a metal cord wrapped around it. Yuko is slowly coming out of his shell, he currently weighs 51 pounds but we would love to see him with more weight. This sweet boy loves his treats, and needs time to come out of his shell but that is completely understandable. If you have a sensitive heart for sweet Pitties take another look at Yuko.
