Thank You for your cooperation*** WE ARE NOT A SHELTER; WE ARE AN ALL-VOLUNTEER RESCUE WITH FULL-TIME JOBS. Please do not contact us to look at a dog. We will contact you once we have reviewed your completed application if we think your home might be a good fit. A reference check, phone interview, and home visit will be completed before meeting an adoptable dog. We work quickly. Please do not submit an application until you are ready to bring a new furry family member home. Expect your references to be contacted shortly after submitting your application. We adopt out to homes around the US and Canada, but require that you are present for the meet and greet in Newcastle, WA. Our adoption fee is non-negotiable. The adoption fee is due on the day of adoption in the form of a check, Chase Quick Pay, PayPal, or cash. This is yet another extremely sad story for the sweet Mr Prince. Prince had 48 hours left to live otherwise he was going to lose his life in a very high kill shelter in CA. His owner had dropped the handsome Prince off at the shelter & he had been waiting for someone to come for him for well over a month, but no one did. He had his second upper respiratory infection in the shelter but as we quickly learned when we rescued him & rushed him to our vets he had pneumonia & we did not know if he was going to survive as he was so extremely ill. Our vets let us know if we did not rescue him he would of died from the pneumonia before he was put to sleep. We had our work cut out for us with Prince after rescuing him, he was extremely sick & stayed at our vets for several days on an iv, receiving meds, good nutrition & care. Once he was well enough off into his foster home he went, he followed his foster mum everywhere & became her shadow. We wanted to make sure Prince is good with men & we put him into a daycare with men to see how he was & he loves the men who look after him. Prince does well with some dogs but we recommend a home where he can be the only dog & get all the attention. He also does like to play & will play rough with the other dogs. Prince rides beautifully in the car & enjoys a good journey & he now loves to eat & walks good on a leash. We are looking for a forever home with Prince where someone is home during the day or he can go with his people wherever possible. Prince is looking for a forever home who will cherish him & love him as he should be loved. This boy has already been through so much & already been abandoned before. Prince has been around many breeds of dogs all shapes & sizes & he is currently with other dogs here in WA & was in CA. Prince is roughly 5 years old & 64.2 lbs & is perhaps a American pit bull, male, neutered, took several months to get him healthy & to a healthy weight as he had severe pneumonia & we did not know if he would survive, had patchy hair loss & crusty patches on skin, he is microchipped, up to date on his shots, including DHLPP, Bordatella, CIV, rabies & dewormed. We have spent far more on rescuing Prince, with all of his medical care, getting him well from severe pneumonia including x-rays, treatments & not knowing if he would survive the severity of the pneumonia he needed a lot of extra care. Along with vet bills in CA & WA, transport, boarding etc we have spent more on Prince’s care than his fee covers. Prince has been around cats since being in the rescue & he does like to chase the cats so a home with no cats is best for Prince, but it’s always up to the new family to be responsible with their animals together & we have not had him around small children so we do not recommend small children & it’s always up to the family to be responsible with their children. We were not there when Prince was conceived so we do not know who his parents were & it’s always up to the new potential family to look at the pictures & decide what they think his breed is. As with all of our rescues & Prince’s friends he will need work on potty training & training, so this should be something the new family would be willing to work on & commit to. Please do not submit an application if you are not willing to commit to one of our rescues care for their whole life & that includes if they need training with more than 1 class. Please do not email us asking is Prince potty trained or available, nor do we ship dogs anywhere as we will not respond. We would never say anyone of our rescues are potty trained. Our rescues need homes where the people are understanding of their past & what they have been through & what they will need in their daily lives & not willing to give up on them & if they do need training in their new home will in fact take them to training & not just say they will when applying. Prince has been through many traumas in his life so when applying this needs to be kept in mind & for his care. Please only submit an application if you are truly interested in adopting Prince & going through our process and have read his listing fully to the end & are wanting to adopt. If you are not responsive to our calls, emails or your references do not respond we will move on & remove your application from our system. You must be willing to go through our screening process which includes your references being checked, a phone interview & a virtual home visit using Webex due to covid & followed by a meet and greet & if it’s a good fit, up to our discretion. We will only be accepting applications for Prince who understands his needs & that meet all the requirements for this beautiful boy. Once we find the right home for each little soul we work fast, within days so the dogs can go to their forever homes in quite a timely manner. We do not hold onto dogs for people as our goal is to save lives & please do not submit an application if you are not ready to adopt. We also cannot respond to every application unfortunately. Prince has an adoption fee of $500 & is ready for his truly loving forever home & compassion & understanding of what he has been through.

Is shy initially with strangers but soon approaches them with affection and acts charming. Is not usually the type to approach first but does not shy away from contact, enjoying and accepting gentle touches. * Interaction with Dogs: Gets along well with other dogs. Is often the first to greet new dogs at the Center and welcomes those approaching her without reservation. Tolerates playful nips well from other dogs. Mingles with any dog without confrontation. * Separation Anxiety: It’s hard to determine because she is residing in a group at the Center. Appears content and relaxed even when alone. * Potty Training: Uses currently outdoors potty while living at the Center. Prefers outdoor potty but occasionally has potty accidents in her kennel when it is urgent. * Hygiene: Stays still while being touched by humans. Accepts baths and brushing nicely. Is patient enough to have her nail trimmed quietly once her paws are properly held. * Walks: Is currently under training because she does not feel comfortable at going for walk for now. There is no resistance to wear a collar or harness. Wears clothes well but takes them off promptly on her own maybe due to their tight feeling. 💌Special Notes💌 * Her skin discoloration should improve in a cleaner environment. * Though timid, Mina sometimes acts boldly. Her attraction is charm and smile even though her personality is somewhat cat-like. ❗Health Status❗ * Neutering: Done * Others: Microchipped, heartworm negative * Due to the muddy conditions at the Center, Mina’s legs have become discolored from constant contact with dirt. This has not affected her health or skin condition. * She is getting weekly medicated baths due to skin trouble presumably caused by allergies.

Hi, my name is Coco and I am available for adoption!Watch Coco`s adoption video!I am an affectionate love bug who likes to meet every person I come across, and if they let me, I will give them a kiss! My prior owners were seniors. They brought me to the shelter when they were no longer able to care for me and said that I was outgoing, loving, playful, and a true Prince.I was a bit chonky when I first came to the shelter on April 14, but now I am at a much healthier weight at around 69 pounds. I do love my food and will happily do (almost) anything you ask for a treat!I may be a senior dog, but I still have plenty of get up and go for adventures or play sessions! If you take me for a walk or let me enjoy a good chew toy, I am happy to hang out while you work or binge watch your favorite show. I prefer to do my snoozing on a comfy dog bed, couch, or on your bed with you!At my foster home, I like to look out the window and watch what is going on and if a dog goes by, I will bark and whine because I am excited to see them. I do not really like to see cats or squirrels so I will let them know that. I need a home with no cats or small animals.My prior owners said I was dog-reactive. I am showing some reactivity in my foster home, but when I was at the shelter, I participated in play groups with other dogs my size and seemed to really enjoy it! My foster caregiver tries to take me on walks early in the morning when there are less dogs out and about. I am working on seeing dogs without reacting. Sometimes I can do it, other times it is harder for me. Hopefully my forever home will continue to work on this with me as I love my walks!My foster caregiver thinks I would enjoy a home where my people are home more often than not as I really like spending time with people. I do not have to be by your side all the time, but I like to know you are there with me. I have been learning it is okay to stay by myself. At first, I whined and barked, but I am much quieter and relaxed now that I am learning my people will come back and also have access to the couch to snooze on while I am alone. I am a bit of a couch potato!My foster caregiver says I am the perfect mix of chill and silliness. She tells me I am such a sweet boy and hopes that I will find a forever home soon!

Hi! My name is Karma and I am available for adoption.I was brought in by an Animal Control Officer on June 6, 2024 after I was abandoned in a park. I was adopted and returned on September 21, 2024 because I had some pretty bad separation anxiety. My previous adopter states that I did great with men, women, children and large dogs, but not a fan of small dogs or cats. They described me as active, very sweet and cuddly. My only fault is my separation anxiety, so I am looking for family that will work with me on that :)I weigh 55.0 lbs and am considered a `large breed` dog.I must admit I was really shut down when I first arrived at RASKC. I am starting to realize that the people here are really nice, but I am still very stressed. I am really looking forward to going to a new home where it`s cozy and quiet. My caregivers mention that I walk well on leash and potty-trained for the most part!I have been out to doggy playgroup and overall did well! Ask the staff about my playgroup experience. I am an adaptable dog who loves to go with the flow! I am outgoing and carefree, and I just can`t wait to find my forever home!

Hi! My name is Prada and I am available for adoption.I was brought in by an Animal Control Officer on September 8, 2024. I was adopted and returned on October 26, 2024 because it was not a good fit. My previous adopters mention that I was was very cuddly and attentive to the family, played nicely with the children and polite with guests. I lived in a home with a cat that wasn`t fond of me, but I didn`t seem too interested in the cat.I weigh 77.5 lbs and am considered a `large breed` dog, I could benefit with some help losing some weight, I love my food but we want to keep my joints in good condition so I can live a long quality life!I keep a nice clean space and don`t potty in my kennel staff think I am likely potty trained, I am a happy girl who really loves people and a good `zoomy` session outside!It was noted that I am not a big fan of being moved around by my collar. I just ask that my future adopters please just work with me on leash skills and recall words.I am an adaptable dog who loves to go with the flow! I am outgoing and carefree, and I just can`t wait to find my forever home!
