Story
Belsnickel is a super sweet 4 month old guy. He is in foster care learning how to be the best boy! He loves to play and is super food motivated. He was 25 pounds at his last weigh in and is growing day by day! Since many of our adoptable dogs are in foster homes, appointments are highly recommended to ensure the animal you are interested in is currently at the shelter. Please call or e-mail the shelter to set up an appointment to meet and adopt! Our adoption fees include the following: all of our dogs/puppies are current on vaccinations (DHPP and Rabies if over 3 months of age) at the point of adoption, dewormed, heartworm tested and current on preventative, microchipped, treated for fleas/ticks and are spayed or neutered. Our large dog adoption fee is generally $175 + tax. Our small dog and puppy adoption fee is generally $275+ tax. Adoption fees may vary in special circumstances. Due to space limitations, we do not hold dogs. Because we are on a busy street, we require that all dogs leaving the shelter be in a carrier or on leash. All pets remain up for adoption until an approved application is processed and their adoption fee paid.

Story
Meet Elphaba, a captivating Pitbull mix whose story is as enchanting as the emerald-hued sorcery of her namesake. With her soulful eyes and gentle demeanor, she’s a dog destined to rewrite her narrative—no broomstick required. Like the misunderstood protagonist of Wicked, Elphaba is shy at first. New faces and unfamiliar settings can make her retreat into the shadows of uncertainty. But don’t be fooled—beneath that reserved exterior is a heart that’s Popular-level loving. Once she feels the magic of your kindness, her transformation begins, and she becomes as sweet and devoted as can be. Elphaba is a lap dog in her own mind, blissfully unaware of her size as she curls into your arms. It’s in these moments that she truly shines, proving that her heart beats to the rhythm of loyalty and love. This charming girl needs someone to Defy Gravity with her, helping her build confidence and discover her place in a world she’s just learning to trust. With a little patience and a lot of love, Elphaba is ready to embark on the greatest journey of all—a life filled with connection, joy, and a happily ever after. Since many of our adoptable dogs are in foster homes, appointments are highly recommended to ensure the animal you are interested in is currently at the shelter. Story
Fiyero is a handsome black Pit Mix with a gentle soul and a heart full of potential. Much like his namesake from Wicked, Fiyero can come across as hesitant and uncertain when he’s around new people or exploring new places. These situations make him feel a bit like a "scarecrow on unsteady legs," but with patience, love, and a little encouragement, Fiyero transforms into the most loyal and affectionate companion. Once he warms up to you, this sweet boy’s true personality shines as brightly as the emerald city itself. He’s goofy, loving, and full of boundless charm. Fiyero’s soulful eyes tell you he’s ready to be “changed for good” by the right person who will take the time to earn his trust. Like Elphaba, Fiyero could use a little help refining his manners, but don’t worry—he’s eager to learn and more than capable of becoming the good boy you know he can be. With the right guidance (and maybe some tasty treats as motivation), he’ll be acing his lessons in no time, ready to "dance through life" with his forever family. Fiyero’s ideal home would be with someone who understands that even the bravest of hearts need time to feel safe and secure. If you’re looking for a dog who will love you fiercely once he trusts you, Fiyero might just be the perfect companion. Adopting Fiyero means being patient and giving him the space to settle in at his own pace, but in return, you’ll gain a best friend who will love you unconditionally. Take a chance on this sweet boy, and you’ll find that loving Fiyero is nothing short of wicked. Story
Meet Glinda, a stunning grey Pitbull mix with charming white boots that sparkle like a pair of magical slippers. Much like her namesake from Wicked, Glinda is full of grace and potential, but her path to opening up takes a little time. Shy around new people, she’s more “I’m Not That Girl” at first—but don’t let that fool you. Once she trusts you, she reveals a personality so full of love, you’ll feel like you’ve been “Dancing Through Life” with her forever. Glinda takes her time to warm up to strangers, preferring to observe quietly from the sidelines before deciding if you’re popular enough to join her inner circle. But once she decides you’re worthy of her trust, you’ll see her true colors shine. She’ll love you “For Good” and forever, proving her loyalty and affection in the sweetest ways. Her ultimate goal? To be the lap dog of your dreams. While she might not be the size of a tiny dog that fits in your arms, she wholeheartedly believes she’s meant to curl up close and share endless snuggles. With her loving gaze and soft, soulful cuddles, she’ll leave you feeling like you’re “Defying Gravity.” Glinda thrives with a family who understands that even the most magical companions take time to grow comfortable. She needs a quiet and patient household where her shyness is met with kindness, giving her the space to settle in and show her true, wonderful self. Like the beloved witch of the same name, Glinda brings light, love, and a little magic into the lives of those lucky enough to know her. With Glinda by your side, you’ll quickly realize she’s no ordinary dog—she’s the good witch of your heart, and she’ll change your life for good. Story
***ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS*** Spook is a small stout little boy who’s believed to be a Pittie mix – likely with something smaller. He’s very short in statue but very stocky. He’s approximately 12 months old and currently approximately 30 -35 pounds and still growing. Spook is good with other dogs, both large and small. He loves to grab at their legs and wrestle with them. He is good at following cues the others give him and will back off when they’ve had enough. Spook does well with cats. He is cautious but will occasionally try and play with them until they hiss/swat at him. Spook loves to meet people and warms up quickly to new faces. He has learned to sit for attention and walks very nicely on a loose leash. He needs a few reminders when he gets excited to not pull, but for the most part he’s mastered the walking! He loves to check out new places and enjoys carrying toys around in his mouth. He loves the heavy duty chews and the toys that squeak. Spook is kennel trained and used to kenneling overnight. He does well with house training on a schedule, but needs to be watched for signs to go out as he doesn’t let you know in an obvious manner (he gets snoopy and paces but doesn’t come up to you to go out). Spook is up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, and current on flea/tick/heartworm preventatives. He is too young to heartworm test, but has been on preventatives his whole time with rescue. Spook is not yet neutered but will be prior to heading to his new home. Spook’s adoption donation fee is $300.00.
