Story
Hades is a pure bred American bully. And i have his papers. His shots just expired and is not fixed. He walks very well on leash, and is easy to redirect. I have Young kids and he is fine however he would do best without as he gets over stimulated. He also is okay with other dogs time to time but is territorial and would do best alone. Hades shows no signs of food aggression towards people. When meeting new people he does show signs of being unsure, so an experienced handler would be best. He is also typically quiet unless someone enters the property, he does not seem to care about my neighbors dogs barking etc and usually stays quiet.

Story
Say hello to Dyna! Dyna is about half “Snuggle Bug, Lover Girl” and half “Zoomie Queen, Toy Fiend.” She’s a sweet girl who loves her people, toys, and playing. Dyna loves to lay next to her people as she chews her toys, that way she gets the best of both worlds: snuggles AND play. Dyna loves treats and is always up to learn some new skills or work on a puzzle toy. Dyna does well on walks and would thrive in an active home where she can go on daily adventures or runs. She is friendly and likes making new friends but would do best with teens and up due to being a jumpy when excited. **if you are interested in Dyna, please complete an adopter’s profile at parl.org and come in during our open hours**

Story
Meet Montana - Take My Lead Dog Montana found herself at the shelter as part of a cruelty case in March of 2023. She was seized from her former owner and held as evidence alongside Vermont. Montana has been receiving routine visits from Vermont’s Enrichment Specialist, and continues to grow her confidence thanks to the dedicated staff at her shelter. Montana is very smart, and quick to learn new cues. This adorable girl loves to run, chase down toys, and is working hard on her fetch skills. While she’s not nearly as fearful as Vermont, she does have a fear of new people and things. This makes walking on leash challenging and something she will need patience with. She comes with a Take My Lead grant for FREE training through Handsome Dan's Rescue, which we are making a mandatory part of her adoption to ensure her forever home is committed to working on her behaviors. Montana loves to play. She’s a runner, and would do great in a home with enough space for her to do so. A large fenced in yard would be ideal to give her the outlet she needs to burn off her young energy. She also loves to snuggle, and will gladly get all up in your business in an attempt to get pats and hugs. She is on the small side of medium, and needs an adults-only home, where she will likely need to be the only pet. If you have any questions or are interested in adopting Montana, please email Rachael at hdrrachael@gmail.com

Story
Meet Vermont - Take My Lead Vermont is a fearful boy who is still working on expanding his circle of trust, but I promise that once you’re in it, he will love you with his whole heart… and head… and butt. He forgets all personal space exists once you’ve been initiated into the Trustworthy Human Club. His circle is small, and for good reason. At under two years old, he’s lacked critical socialization while he was kept at a shelter as evidence in his former owner’s cruelty case since March 2023. While shelter staff and HDR volunteers have worked closely with him, not being able to leave the shelter’s premises has limited his interactions and real-life exposure to a single area, and only a handful of people. Each new experience is met with hesitation but also, as he becomes more confident and comfortable, it’s met with curiosity. If it’s new, it’s scary. We are working on getting him acclimated to real life by exposing him to more people, places, and things. We are now in a position to expand his universe with him being turned over to the shelter after waiting 533 days. Vermont is smart, and eager to please. He’s great with basic commands, loves birds, the color lavender, breakfast sandwiches, and has shown interest in other dogs. He is gentle, playful, and a goofball, but is also sensitive to unexpected or new sights and sounds. Vermont is a work in progress, but has proven to be up for the challenge. Vermont is medium in size, and would do best in an adult-only home due to the ease in which he scares. While we think he may do well with another dog in the home, we still need some time to make an official decision. He needs a special person or a special couple who are willing to work with his needs, and who understand that he may always need time and space to process new environments. Vermont comes with a Take My Lead grant, providing training through Handsome Dan’s Rescue. While not generally the case for our TML dogs, training is mandatory in this case, and we will require his adopter(s) to agree to this as part of his adoption process. To say this boy is special is an understatement. We are beyond excited for him to be officially available for adoption, and we can’t wait to find his forever home. For any questions, please contact his Enrichment Specialist, Rachael, at hdrrachael@gmail.com

Meet Harley Sweet and gentle Harley is a resident of East Providence Shelter. Harley has a fear of men but is working hard to overcome that fear. She know a few cued commands, and is happy to show them off. Harley is medium energy, affectionate, and such a beautiful dog. We think she will do best with a female owner, at least at this time. Shelter staff is helping her with her fear of men, for she's not quite there yet. She is potty trained and well behaved. Please email East Providence shelter directly at aco@eastprovidenceri.gov for questions about Harley. Thank you for choosing rescue!

Rhett, just a good ole' boy seeking a new life in New England!Rhett found himself in need of a new home when his original owner could no longer care for him. At just two years old, Rhett is still young but has outgrown his puppy craziness. He's crate trained and making strides with housetraining, showing promising progress. With a medium energy level, Rhett enjoys winding down after play sessions and simply chilling out.Rhett isn't the type to be in your face; he's a bit timid around new people but is generally very friendly and submissive. He thrives on playing with his foster siblings, especially enjoying the role of big brother to puppies. While he would appreciate having a dog friend to hang out with, it's not a requirement for him. He's a calm companion in the car, content to ride along without any fuss.Rhett is ready to embark on his next adventure in a loving forever home. Meet Cowboy - Local Foster in New England!Cowboy is an affectionate and loyal companion who would make a fantastic addition to any home. Originally adopted as a young puppy, Cowboy has grown into a smart, loving dog with many wonderful qualities. Recently, his family reached out because Cowboy isn’t happy sharing his space with their small dog, leading to some tension. So now, we’re looking for a forever home where Cowboy can thrive as the only pet. Here’s why Cowboy is such a catch:Human Loving: Cowboy absolutely adores his humans. Whether watching football or just hanging out, he’s happy being by your side, soaking up all the love and attention.Kid-Friendly: Cowboy has lived with children who adore him and is wonderful with them in return. No Crate Needed: This well-mannered boy doesn’t need to be crated when left alone. He’s not destructive and knows how to behave in the house—no chewing on things he shouldn’t!Smart & Well-Trained: Cowboy’s got some great manners! He’ll wait patiently for the “okay” before eating, lets you know when he needs to go out by nudging his leash, and sits politely when you pick up his leash, knowing it’s almost time for a walk.We can’t wait to find Cowboy a home where he’ll be the star. Meet Princessa, a sweet 3-year-old pup with a heart full of love and a past that makes her all the more special. Originally a stray momma from the streets of Memphis, TN, Princessa has come a long way from her tough beginnings. Now, she's living the good life in New England with her amazing foster family, where she’s learning to thrive and showing just how wonderful she can be.Princessa is well on her way to being the perfect companion. She’s crate trained and housebroken, making her a great addition to any home. She knows some basic commands like Sit, Down, Here, Touch, and Crate. She's working on mastering Place and Stay, and while she’s eager to greet new people with excitement (maybe a little too much—she’s working on not jumping!), her love for humans knows no bounds. As a former stray, Princessa can be a bit reactive on the leash when encountering other dogs, mostly due to her over-the-top excitement. But don't worry—she's actively working on improving that behavior with her foster family’s help.Princessa would do best as the only pet in the home, as she loves all the attention she can get! She’s fantastic with people of all ages and is sure to bring joy and loyalty to a loving family. If you're looking for a dog who's not only beautiful inside and out but also eager to learn and grow, Princessa might just be the princess you've been waiting for.Name: PrincessaBreed: Pit Bull TerrierSex: FemaleAge: 3 years  (estimated)Weight: 65Spayed/Neutered: YesVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: Negative at last testingMicrochipped: YesBASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS:Good with Children: Older, has done well with proper introductionsGood with Dogs: Best as an only dog.Good with Cats: Unknown, but probably not.Adoption Fee: $350.00  Location of dog currently:  New EnglandIMPORTANT INFORMATION - Paws New England is a foster-based rescue - our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south and New England.  Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. Meet Queen (nicknames: Queen Bean, and Queen of the Beans) Queen is a gentle, loving mama whose puppies have all found homes—now it’s her turn to shine! She’s the perfect companion, great with dogs, cats, chickens, kids—basically anyone she meets! Playful and silly, especially with other dogs, her short-legged zoomies will have you laughing in no time. But most of the time, she’s so quiet and low-maintenance, you might forget she’s even there. Well, until you catch sight of her forever wiggle butt squeezing into spaces she doesn’t quite fit! While she’s still getting the hang of walking on a leash, she’s an excellent riding buddy and loves to be close. Super snuggly but equally happy in her crate, she runs there any time she thinks it’s time to eat! Just don’t let her fool you with her big booty—she’s a bit clumsy and sometimes seems blissfully unaware of her surroundings. Queen’s no jumper either, but her little dance next to the bed will tell you she’s ready to be picked up. And when she decides to join in, forget about personal space—she’ll wedge herself right next to you, but thankfully, she’s not a licker! She just nudges her head into you, rolls onto her back, and throws her feet in the air. If you’re looking for an easy, house-trained, calm but playful young adult who brings joy, cuddles, and plenty of smiles, Queen is your girl! **Meet Spirit!** Spirit is a 1-year-old boxer mix with the most gorgeous blue eyes and a smile that will melt your heart. This sweet boy is very well-behaved and has quickly earned the nickname “Velcro dog” because he loves to stick close to his people. He’s pretty good on a leash and enjoys car rides, although he’s still a bit tentative and needs some encouragement to get in. Spirit is also working on his crate training; while he’s hesitant to enter, he does well once inside and doesn’t have accidents. Spirit is fantastic with children and gets along wonderfully with the 7-year-old in his current foster home. He’s still learning how to play with toys and prefers soft treats over hard ones. If you’d like to be the family that shows Spirit, what love is all about. Spirit is sure to become a loyal and loving companion. Are you ready to give Spirit the forever home he deserves? Story
Meet Sir Brompton! 🐾 Sir Brompton and his Mama Kate are two sweet souls that were found wandering onto the property of a kind-hearted person, most likely abandoned and searching for safety. Brompton, a playful puppy, adores his mama and hates to be away from her, but we know the chances of them finding a home together are slim. As much as he loves her, he’s ready to start a new chapter in a forever home full of love and belly rubs! 💙 This adorable boy is full of playful energy and is the first to flop over for belly rubs as soon as you pet him! Sir Brompton is a bundle of love who will follow you around, gazing up with those big, sweet, yet slightly sad eyes, asking for just a bit more affection. He’s amazing with dogs of all ages and sizes, as well as gentle and affectionate with kids and all visitors. Brompton would make a loyal and loving addition to any family—give him a cozy bed, a few treats, and some love, and he’ll be your most devoted friend. We’d love for Brompton and his mama to find their forever homes. If you can open your heart to this little “sushi roll” of a puppy, he’s ready to fill your days with joy and companionship. 🐶 If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at https://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/forms PLEASE MAKE NOTE- OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN ALABAMA (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED), OUR DOGS TRANSPORT TO THEIR NEW FAMILIES IN RHODE ISLAND AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED.
