Story
Meet Gigit, a big, beautiful girl with a zest for life. She came in with her housemate Sage, and while these ladies can go home together, they are adoptable individually, as they do not seem bonded to each other. Gigit is initially reserved on meeting new people. Once she warms up to you, she'll show you her playful and affectionate side. She can be a cuddlebug. Gigit would do best as the only pet in the home unless Sage is accompanying her. Some dogs just need a little more TLC and attention than others! Please consider meeting Gigit and opening your home to this sweet girl. Meet Toffee (aka Reba): Your Playful & Energetic Companion!Hello, I'm Toffee! I'm a 6-year-young Pitbull mix with a heart full of love and a boundless zest for life.My favorite things in the world? Long walks where I can sniff all the interesting smells, and playtime where I can chase toys and show off my zoomies! I may be 6, but I've still got plenty of pep in my step.I'm looking for a loving forever home with older children (8+). I'm a big, strong girl, and I can get a little excited when I play, so a home with older kids who understand dog body language would be the perfect fit.If you're looking for an active, affectionate companion who will always greet you with a wagging tail and a big smile, I might be the one for you! Come meet me and let's see if we're a match! Primary Color: Tricolor Weight: 74 Age: 6yrs 2mths 2wks

Story
Rollins is an affectionate, people-focused pitbull mix. She is smart, loves to learn and play, and enjoys adventures. She enjoys being petted and cuddling. Rollins walks well with a harness. She is making excellent progress in taking cues from her walker, along with treats, to minimize her reaction to other dogs. Because she is smart and treat focused, she will do well responding to positive training. Rollins will thrive as the only pet in her new home. She will be a very loving and loyal addition to your family. Rollins has been in the shelter since early August. She is spayed and ready to go. It's time to get this sweet gem into her forever home! 🕵️‍♀️❤️ Primary Color: Fawn Secondary Color: Grey Weight: 63.625 Age: 7yrs 0mths 1wks

Story
Penny came to our rescue from a shelter in Bakersfield CA. She and six siblings from a previous litter (same mom) they were are covered with sarcoptic mange and in very bad shape. She is shy, her life so far has not been the best. She will need time, tons of patience and love. She is bonded to Pinky another dog 4 months younger that came from the same mom. We know its exceptional to consider two rescues but wanted to put is out there just in case someone would consider them.

******Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************ We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Lunesta, 6 years old, spayed female, pit bull mix, 55lbs. Lunesta is in a foster home in Houston, TEXAS and can transport out of state once an approved adopter is lined up! Lulu is a sweet, medium energy kind of gal who loves to play. She is in a foster home with a resident pit bull and a shih tzu, and tries engaging them in play. She would love to have a home with a canine companion to play with her. The resident shih tzu will get barky and nippy at Lulu, and she walks away, ignoring him entirely. Lulu doesn't have much body awareness and will body check the other dogs when playing or when treats come out. She pushes and shoves to the front of the line for a treat, to get the toy or to be the first one out the door. She can also be quite clumsy, sometimes running into the doors or walls because she is so focused on looking back at you. Lulu loves to play but also loves to snuggle up and rest with you, or on her own in the crate or on the couch. She is a sweet cuddle bear and enjoys following you around the house ensuring you are never alone nor under attack from an unseen foe. Going to the kitchen? Lulu's coming too. Need to use the restroom? Good idea, she should join you. Headed outside for some vitamin D? Perfect, that is just what she wanted to do also! Not even joking, Lulu really does love the sun and baking as long as you will let her. Lulu is a toy hoarder. She will sneak and steal the toys from her siblings but is not aggressive of them. As a general rule of the foster, all dogs are fed separately to ensure they eat their own meals but not because anyone resource guards their food. We have no history with cats but when walking her and she sees one, she wants to charge at it. She has been around children ages 10 and up without issue, and we have no reason to think she couldn't be around very young kids as she's not super jumpy or energetic. Typically recommend a home with kids over the age of 10 years, or those who can understand and will respect animal behavior cues. Lulu does need to work on her leash manners as she is all over the place and pulls with the typical pittie energy. A harness or Gentle Leader head collar may yield the best results but Lulu's foster has been working patiently with her on this training. Lulu is nearly fully housetrained but will "go" if it has been too long between her potty breaks. She does not have any accidents overnight in her kennel. Lunesta is crate trained and does very well, sleeping and taking her meals in the kennel, as well as being put up when unable to be supervised. She would do best in a home willing to help her reinforce the basic manners she already has, ensuring a good solid connection through training and structure. She would enjoy a moderately active house with some walks and fetch opportunities, lots of snuggles and cuddles, and possibly another doggy sibling or two. ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. *** Interested in applying to adopt her? Story
Benny was rescued in Texas and has adapted really well to being the best boy. He is the sweetest pit Bull mix you’ll meet. He loves people and loves to cuddle and play. He is 4.5-5 years old and is house trained. He’s really smart. Due to a new career shift that requires traveling for weeks at a time, Benny’s mom has made the heartbreaking decision to try and give him a better life by rehoming him with someone who can really take care of him (and she is very open to an open adoption!). He is aggressive with other dogs and very territorial. He needs someone with a yard, no other pets (at first), and dedicated to getting him better behaviorally trained. His behavior is not why he is getting rehomed — it is not his fault. Please help him find a real forever home. With rehoming, Benny needs to take his things! you will get the following: - two beds - food and water tray - water dispenser - food to last 2+ weeks - plenty of toys and treats.

Great news! My adoption fee has been paid by someone who loves me and wants me to find a great home. Here's what you need to know about me:I'm an active dog! I would love to go home with a family who can help me burn off energy with exercise, playtime, and outdoor adventures.I can be nervous around new people. It just takes me a little while to get comfortable with new people. But once I get to know them, I'm very loving. It's recommended I meet any dogs or kids living in my new home before I'm adopted. I just want to make sure we all get along.I'm not on the general adoption floor. You might not see me when you come to visit. So please speak to an adoption counselor if you'd like to meet me.I'm available for Trial Adoption! If you're interested in taking me home for 2 weeks before making a final decision, please email adoptions@southwesthumane.org.I'm currently in foster and ready for my new home! If you're interested in meeting me, please email adoptions@southwesthumane.org. Primary Color: Brown Weight: 53.2 Age: 6yrs 1mths 2wks
