Meet Happy: A Dog with a Heart of GoldHappy’s name couldn’t be more fitting—he’s a bundle of joy wrapped in fur, radiating love to everyone he meets. Over a year ago, this sweet soul was abandoned in the front corral of CNHS, but Happy didn’t let that dim his spirit. He found his way to the adoption floor, charming staff, visitors, and other dogs alike, especially the puppies and small pups he adores.Life threw Happy a curveball when he tore a cruciate ligament in his leg. His road to recovery was long and tough—nearly 10 months of healing, rest, and determination. Through it all, Happy never lost his signature smile or his enthusiasm for life. Today, you’ll often find him strolling alongside his favorite GIPD human, Officer Olson, soaking up the sunshine and spreading cheer.Happy is more than ready to find a forever family who’ll love him as much as he’ll love them. This resilient, affectionate boy has been through so much, and now he’s dreaming of the day he can fill someone’s home with wagging tails, endless cuddles, and his unwavering happiness. Could you be the happy ending this remarkable dog deserves?

My name is Virginia and my big ears are almost as big as my heart!I am a young girl who is full of energy, I would love a family who will take me for walks or take me outside to play and get the exercise I need in life. After we are done playing I would love to cuddle up in your arms and take a longggg nap! I love my toys and I am great at the game of fetch. I also LOVE the water so I would be a great lake companion during the summertime. I can be shy with strangers at first but it only takes me a second to jump in your arms, after that initial introduction we are besties!I do seem to enjoy other dogs and love playing with them, but I can be protective of my food, so if you have another doggie friend in the home it would be best if we are separated during food and treat time. I`m fine if a human touches my food however.Come meet me and let me join your family! :)

Pete here! No one at the shelter can ever resist my cute face, when I walk by I get ALL the loves. And I am fine with that because I love EVERYONE!!I always happily wiggle my butt when I see anyone, staff thinks I would make a perfect family dog.I have medium level energy, I do love my daily play time in the yard with toys. But after that I enjoy a nice long nap in my kennel.I also love my dog friends here at the shelter and have regular play dates with my doggie `girlfriend` Belette. If you have another dog at home we would still need to meet first, but I am a great option for just about any home.Come see me! :)

Story
Diamond presented to a local veterinary clinic with a broken leg. Then she was abandoned by her owners while receiving treatment. Diamond came to CNHS when her leg was healed. She may walk with a limp on her left front leg, especially after being more active. She will need x-rays in June 2025 as a recheck since she was so young when the injury occurred. Diamond will likely develop arthritis in her left elbow. Adopters are encouraged to discuss the situation with their veterinarian to come up with a plan for supplements or medications as Diamond ages.
