Meet young puppy Bocce. This is a happy go lucky guy with a lot of energy. He loves to entertain himself with toys and is really good walking on aleash. Oh, dont let that adorable face fool you. This puppy will requirea bit more training with polite greetings and to use that puppy mouthappropriately. Luckily, Bocce loves his snacks and will train for cookies. This good boy is looking to join a low traffic home with older kids only tohelp him become his best self. The best situation would be if he could livewith an older, patient dog that will teach him the ropes. Here at theshelter, he has enjoyed play dates with other dogs. We have no history ofwhat Bocce thinks of cats, so a dog-savvy cat would be a possibility.Does Bocce sound like the pup for you? If so, please head to the MethuenMSPCA location Tuesday-Sunday between the hours of 12PM-3PM!

Story
Ava is an 11-month-old pittie mix with a heart full of love and energy! At first, Ava is nervous when meeting new people, but once she warms up, she becomes a fun-loving, playful companion who is always eager to be near her favorite humans. Her sweet nature shines through as she brings joy and silliness to every moment. Ava loves to play with other dogs and is always up for a good game. Her affectionate personality makes her the perfect addition to any home looking for a playful, loving, and energetic furry friend! Ava is still working on some basic training, so shes looking for an owner who is dedicated to helping her work on polite greetings, leash walking, and some puppy basics! At the shelter, Ava is a staff and volunteer favorite and even the other dogs love her! Ava is a candidate to live with a polite dog friend who`s down for a good romp! She does not have experience living with cats, though with a careful introduction may do well. Ava has spent time in a previous home with younger, very respectful kids and did well. Please note, in an effort to keep the stress levels reduced for the dogs in our care, our dog kennel areas will not be open to walk through. Interested adopters will work with a matchmaker on staff to determine which dog(s) they are interested in and if we can identify a match, potential adopters will be able to meet those dogs outside of the kennel. Cat and small animal areas will remain open to walk through.

Story
Long-term resident Simba has been patiently waiting for an adopter since August and would love to be your next adventure dog! During his stay, staff has slowly been learning more and more about this active guy as we unfortunately don`t have a known history on his life thus far. From what we have learned, Simba loves: car rides, stuffy toys, long sniffy walks, both fresh and dirty laundry (hah!) and snuggles with his people. This foody boy also makes for a great training buddy and is a favorite amongst his staff Behavior Team friends! Since being with us, Simba has been perfecting his on-leash skills like walking on a loose leash, greeting new people with four feet on the ground, and calmly observing the surroundings around him. After a long outing, Simba often spends his afternoons at the shelter lounging in the office with staff practicing his skills settling calmly while watching folks pass by. As his life in the shelter has gone on, it has become evident to staff that he is quite stressed living in the busy kennel environment where there isn`t always opportunity to relieve the stress of living in such a busy environment. Thankfully, we have some wonderful staff and volunteers who have taken this handsome guy on field trips to give him a break from the shelter environment! He has done well on both off-campus calm walks in addition to some longer hikes. He`s done well at a foster`s home walking around their neighborhood, and did well being confined in a smaller, low-traffic room inside during his down time. We would recommend setting him up in a similar space in a future home and our team is happy to workshop what this might look like in an adopters home. Simba is a young, rowdy guy and is still working on perfecting his greetings with new dogs and people and would likely benefit from settling home in a quiet spot with some flexibility to his care. For the time being, we would advise Simba be the solo dog in the home with the potential to have on-leash walking buddies who may also enjoy a nice romp! Given he has no accessible history, we do not know if he has ever met a cat. We would recommend going home with a dog-savvy cat with the ability to take the introduction slowly to ensure each individual`s success. If you think this dog could be a good match for your home and would like to learn more, stop by our Methuen Adoption Center. We have open adoption hours Tuesday to Sunday from 12pm to 4:30pm. Some dogs are shy and like keeping to the background. Not Sunny! This guylikes being the star of your show. I mean, he is really sweet, adorableand cuddly. Good boy Sunny is both house trained and crate trained. Hewalks very well on a leash and tends to jump up on every bench he passes. We think that is because he gets some ear scratches every time he does it.Sunny could possibly live with a very well-matched dog friend. He and catsdo not get along, so he should not live with a cat. If the children in thehouse can help with training, that would work best. He is hoping foradopters that will give him time to decompress and get over the stress ofbeing at the shelter. This poor guy is having a hard time here. Do you think Sunny with his cute spotted ears is the dog for you? Comevisit Sunny at the MSPCA in Methuen on Tuesdays through Sundays from 12PMto 4:30PM.

Maggie is an active and playful young dog. She is silly and happy withher friends. And yes, she has lots of puppy energy. Get ready! This sweet girl did not have the best of pasts. She spent a lot of timecrated and may not have had the chance to learn all the things a puppyneeds to know. She will need a patient adopter to help her. First will beto give Maleficent the time to decompress and adjust to her new world. Then, slowly introduce new people, places and things, all the whilewatching her to best help her succeed. This pretty girl could possiblylive with a confident dog or a dog savvy cat. And she would probablybenefit from enrolling in a manners class or two. It is not evident ifMaggie was completely house trained in her previous home. New adoptersshould puppy proof the house, just in case. This beautiful dog is waiting for the chance to belong to a family andenjoy being a dog. Would you like to meet her? Visit the MSPCA inMethuen on Tuesdays through Sundays from 12PM to 4:30PM.

Story
Hunter is a gentle 60-pound Pitbull mix with a heart of gold. This strong boy, about a year old, was found running loose on the back roads of Tennessee, but despite his tough start, he's in great shape with a silky black coat. While no one has come forward to claim him, Hunter is patiently waiting for a loving family to call his own! Hunter enjoys his daily walks and is working on not pulling on the leash. ‍&#226&#153&#130&#239&#184&#143 He’s curious, playful, and loves other dogs! He’s been sharing a pen with a Boxer, though we feed him separately to avoid any food aggression. Hunter does the cutest little dance when it’s time for his meals or walks—it’s sure to put a smile on your face! While he hasn’t been tested with cats or kids yet, Hunter did have a run-in with a neighbor’s chicken , so he might be best suited to a home without small livestock. Critter Cavalry Rescue is a Middle Tennessee-based 501(c)(3) that travels to the Northeast states weekly, helping high-risk homeless animals like Hunter find their forever homes. For more info on our mission, adoption fees, and drop-off points, visit us at CritterCavalry.com! &#226&#156&#168 Are you ready to give this playful boy a chance at a new beginning? &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 Email us at ccrnewengland@gmail.com to request an adoption application.  PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.February 23, 2025, 9:42 pm

Story
Have you heard the story about Timmy the toy bandit??Timmy was a stray that was found at the dump in Salem. When dogs are found they are held for 8 days with animal control to see if their owners come forward to claim them. During those eight days they stay in the kennel awaiting either getting claimed or being turned over to a shelter to adopt them out. It can get pretty lonely and boring during that week! Well, one day Timmy decided he needed to have some pals to keep him company. There, above his run was a large bag filled with toys. Timmy managed to puncture a hole in bag and pull about 25 small cow stuffed animals through the bars into his run! When Cori and I entered the kennel, there was Timmy sitting quietly with a pile of cows stacked in the shape of a Xmas tree in the corner of his room! He looked calm and innocent and just as surprised as we were that they were there. The next day after the animal control officer had come and cleaned his room and fed him, we once again entered the kennel and this time he had managed to pull yet another bag of toys over to his run and pull several toys inside his room! Except this time the toys were HUGE! We don`t know how he managed to pull them all through the bars. LOL If you ever saw the movie ET and remember the scene where ET hid amongst a sea of toys and blended in with them...........that`s exactly what Timmy looked like. And that is how he got the name Timmy the Toy Bandit! So who is Timmy?? Well like I already mentioned Timmy came in a stray. He was found at the dump in Salem, so we don`t know anything about his past. Since he`s been with us and we`ve gotten to know him, we know he is approximately 2 years old and weighs 49lbs.Once he was surrendered to us from Animal Control, we discovered he was drinking and peeing a lot. We then started our detective work starting with medical. After much testing, he has been diagnosed with Diabetes Insipidus. Basically, his body is unable to absorb and retain water, so he is on a daily medication to help regulate the water in his system. The medication we have been using here is eye drops, however there are different forms of the medication depending on what your veterinarian wants to prescribe. Could his medical issue be the reason someone dumped him and never came back for him?? Its very highly likely that was the reason.Aside from his medical condition, he is the sweetest most cuddly and playful boy! He loves everyone. He likes other dogs

Story
Meet Jake!Jake is a 10 mnth old pittie. He weighs 53 lbs and is just gorgeous! His coat is a beautiful Chesnut brown and has stunning eyes. He loves other dogs, but can be a lot for them with his 10 mnth old energy! A dog that could match his energy would be great, or a dog that doesn`t mind being around an energetic puppy! He has lived with cats, but again, he needs a cat that won`t mind a crazy puppy, or has plenty of places to escape to get away from him. Older kids would be ideal. Not little little ones due to his jumpiness and puppy mouthiness. Being the age he is, he will need lots of exercise and training. He has not had much of either yet, but Jake is doing really well with his polite sits when asked! He would love to have a person or family that wants to spend with him! Someone that will put in the time to train him and create a strong bond with his new family and teach him how to be the best boy ever!
