Story
Pebbles is a gentle pitbull mix ready for a fresh start after being found as a stray. She has been soaking up attention from shelter staff and volunteers, showing her sweet nature and loving heart along the way. Pebbles enjoys affection, kind words, and taking things at her own pace. She may be able to have dog friends or live with another dog, but she can get shy when play becomes too much and will retreat when she feels overwhelmed. Pebbles would thrive with adopters who will make her a part of the family, and explore the world with her. If there are to be children in the home, they should be older and able to be respectful of dogs. With love, understanding, and a cozy place to call home, Pebbles is ready to begin her next chapter. If you are interested in adopting Pebbles, please come to the shelter on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 12-4pm.If you are unable to come during those times, please email dogs@worcesterarl.org to see what times may be available by appointment.

Story
This is Shy! She is a sweet American Bully. I recently moved and unfortunately I can’t give her the proper care/attention she needs. She is deaf in both ears. Sort of trained, but needs more training. I only had her for a couple months. She is very scared all the time, and very skiddish. But she is very lovable and kind. She loves other people and dogs but she is confused when it comes to cats. She needs proper care and attention. She has skin allergies and had been licking sores often. I tried her on many different medications but nothing has worked so far.

Story
Meet Sophie! A spirited eight-and-a-half-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix currently in Bellingham, MA, whose essence is a vibrant burst of joy wrapped in a striking brown brindle coat with white accents. She is an energetic, affectionate girl who can keep up with younger dogs during playtime and then happily settle in for close cuddles, always leaning in as near as possible to her favorite people. After the passing of her beloved pet parent, she is now looking for a new loving home where she can continue sharing that same warmth and companionship. Sophie thrives on connection and is constantly seeking her humans for praise, learning opportunities, and shared moments, showing just how smart and eager she is to grow through positive reinforcement. She knows a variety of commands like come, sit, lie down, stay, paw, speak, and home, and she would love to continue building her skills with a patient caregiver who can give her the structure she enjoys. With her love of running, endless games of catch, long walks, and even watching television, Sophie brings a delightful mix of activity and charm to each day! She is friendly on walks and genuinely enjoys meeting new people and dogs out in the world, often greeting them with curiosity and enthusiasm. At home, however, Sophie is very aware of her surroundings and takes her role as a watchful companion seriously. She can become vocal when people or animals pass by, as she likes to let her family know what is happening in her space. With guidance, consistency, and positive reinforcement, she is learning how to relax and feel more at ease when these moments occur. Sophie is compatible with respectful dogs who are comfortable with her confident personality, and she needs a home without small animals so she can focus on her favorite terrier style adventures. She has also shown some food-related tension with another dog when they approach her meals, so thoughtful feeding routines and clear boundaries will help her feel comfortable and secure. She may be a wonderful companion for children, especially with guidance that encourages calm and gentle interactions. Storms and fireworks can make her uneasy, so she will appreciate a caring environment that helps her feel safe during those times. Sophie has lived successfully with her brother Simba for many years and could either be adopted alongside him or thrive separately in the right environment. Sophie's soulful eye contact has a way of melting hearts, and her constant companionship makes every moment feel shared and meaningful. She is ready to find a new loving home that can match her energy, nurture her intelligence, and enjoy both her playful spirit and her affectionate closeness. If you are looking for a loyal companion who wants to stay by your side, learn new things, and share in both adventure and quiet cuddles, Sophie is eager to meet you! Story
Meet Red Robin! She came into our care as a stray, so we do not have information about her life prior to coming here. What we have observed so far is that she is a playful and affectionate girl once her needs are met! She loves tennis balls and basking in the sun in our play yards! She is still learning general dog things, like where to go to the bathroom, and how to walk on a leash and collar. She is looking for patient adopters who will continue her training and prove the gentle guidance to thrive. Red Robin`s appraoch to interacting with other dogs was pushy and intense, so may prefer to be the only dog in the home to start. As you get to know her more and learn her preferences, she may be able to have managed dog friends in the future. Any potential dog siblings should meet her at the shelter prior to going home.
