Story
This brindle bully is Bella. She is one of a few dogs that has resided with one of our southern trainers for quite some time. Despite having some issues that make her a bit less adoptable, this pup still deserves a home where she is loved and her needs can be met. And having a trainer as a foster mom is a huge plus!!!Bella is very sweet, but also can be a bit sassy and bossy. Despite that, she has been been tugging at her fosters heart strings for a very long time. She would have definitely been a foster fail if she was not living in an environment with new dogs coming and going almost everyday.Bella is the perfect 50 pound lap dog. She does not understand the concept of personal space and will try to get in your lap at all costs, especially if you are her level.Even though, she has played well with carefully selected dogs, she will not roll over if that dog is overbearing or tries to correct her, Therefore, being an only dog would be ideal. She is not the girl who can go to a doggie daycare either so she would require a home that will exercise her and a fenced yard where she could run would be a bonus. At her age, she'd probably prefer being the only diva in the house. She's done fine with people and older children, so long as they're willing to give her some butt scratches. No cats or young kids.Bella is very obedient, very affectionate and routine oriented. She also crates fine. She does have a habit of jumping up and nose-butting your chin if she thinks her petting session is done (I want more loving please!). She has learned not to do that with foster mom, but will test the waters with new people.Name: BellaBreed: Pit Bull Terrier/CrossbreedSex: FemaleAge: 8 years 4 months  (estimated as of 10/23/24)Weight: 50.0Spayed/Neutered: YesVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: Negative on recent testingMicrochipped: YesBASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS:Good with Children: Over 12Good with Dogs: NoGood with Cats: NoAdoption Fee: $250.00  (includes transport fee when applicable)Location of dog currently:  Memphis  TN IMPORTANT INFORMATION - Paws New England is a foster-based rescue - our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south and New England.  Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. Story
This handsome senior is Roscoe. He is one of a few dogs that has resided with one of our southern trainers, Desiree, for quite some time. Despite having some issues that make him a bit less adoptable, this guy still deserve a home where he is loved and his needs can be met. And having a trainer as a foster mom is a huge plus!!!Roscoe is truly very special to her. He was found weighing 38 lbs (about half of what he should have weighed) and needed assistance walking due to his body condition. He also had heavy heartworm, but has shown zero complications after treatment. After months and months of TLC, he is now a confident, outgoing, loving, playful (you wouldn't know he was a senior) boy. He's great with all people, but would get under foot with children. In all his years he has yet to realize he should bounce less around the small two legged. As big and goofy as he is, he's actually pretty sensitive, god forbid he stubs his toe!) When you reach down to pet him, he'll tuck himself into this tiny little ball like you're trying to attack him-but that's just how he prefers to be scratched. Typical PBM zoomies included at no extra charge- yep all 4 left feet of em!!!He likes to play ball and tug, great in the car, fine in the crate, would need supervision early on in a new environment to prevent marking. He's not been destructive with toys, but will chew out of boredom. However, he takes very well to correction (NO!) and understands quickly.Roscoe is just fine as an only dog, as long as you give him lots of love and some exercise. He will be yourabsolute best friend.Name: RoscoeBreed: Pit Bull Terrier/ American Bulldog Mix (he's taller than he looks in pictures)Sex: MaleAge: 9 years 9 months as of 10/23/24Weight: 60.0Spayed/Neutered: YesVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: Negative on recent testingMicrochipped: YesBASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS:Good with Children: Over 12Good with Dogs: NoGood with Cats: NoAdoption Fee: $250.00  (includes transport fee when applicable)Location of dog currently:  Memphis  TNIMPORTANT INFORMATION - Paws New England is a foster-based rescue - our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south and New England. Story
Rhett, just a good ole' boy seeking a new life in New England!Rhett found himself in need of a new home when his original owner could no longer care for him. At just two years old, Rhett is still young but has outgrown his puppy craziness. He's crate trained and making strides with housetraining, showing promising progress. With a medium energy level, Rhett enjoys winding down after play sessions and simply chilling out.Rhett isn't the type to be in your face; he's a bit timid around new people but is generally very friendly and submissive. He thrives on playing with his foster siblings, especially enjoying the role of big brother to puppies. While he would appreciate having a dog friend to hang out with, it's not a requirement for him. He's a calm companion in the car, content to ride along without any fuss.Rhett is ready to embark on his next adventure in a loving forever home. Could yours be the one he's been waiting for? Story
Meet Cowboy - Local Foster in New England!Cowboy is an affectionate and loyal companion who would make a fantastic addition to any home. Originally adopted as a young puppy, Cowboy has grown into a smart, loving dog with many wonderful qualities. Recently, his family reached out because Cowboy isn’t happy sharing his space with their small dog, leading to some tension. So now, we’re looking for a forever home where Cowboy can thrive as the only pet. Here’s why Cowboy is such a catch:Human Loving: Cowboy absolutely adores his humans. Whether watching football or just hanging out, he’s happy being by your side, soaking up all the love and attention.Kid-Friendly: Cowboy has lived with children who adore him and is wonderful with them in return. No Crate Needed: This well-mannered boy doesn’t need to be crated when left alone. He’s not destructive and knows how to behave in the house—no chewing on things he shouldn’t!Smart & Well-Trained: Cowboy’s got some great manners! He’ll wait patiently for the “okay” before eating, lets you know when he needs to go out by nudging his leash, and sits politely when you pick up his leash, knowing it’s almost time for a walk.We can’t wait to find Cowboy a home where he’ll be the star. He’s ready to settle into his forever family and deserves all the love and stability he can get!Name: CowboyBreed: Mixed Breed Awesome Senior Boy!Sex: MaleAge: 6 1/2 years (estimated)Weight: 95 lbsSpayed/Neutered: YesVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: Negative on recent testingMicrochipped: YesHousetrained: He does not need crating when you leave the hours. Story
Meet beautiful Freya! 💜Freya is intelligent, curious, and very social. She has a warm and welcoming personality and loves both people and dogs. Although Freya loves everyone, her foster mom thinks a dog-savvy home would be ideal. We recently confirmed that Freya is essentially deaf (she sometimes responds to very high-pitched noise), but that does not slow her down—she’s been busy hiking and making new friends!!!Freya had FHO surgery in October 2023 and has healed well.Freya LOVES being included in family activities and is eager to embrace an active lifestyle, explore the outdoors, and enjoy snuggling on the couch and watching Animal Planet.Freya’s Ideal Home requires a gentle and patient household that’s willing and able to invest in training and include her as a beloved family member. Freya is still in her puppy phase and will benefit from training and structure to help her continue to learn manners. Freya would LOVE a playful furry sibling or a well-supervised doggy daycare for her social life. Freya needs a secured fenced in yard as she enjoys being outdoors as much as possible. Please consider giving this resilient, friendly, spunky, loving pup the chance she deserves. It will be amazing to experience the unconditional love and boundless joy she will bring to you.Check out this girl experiencing snow for the very first time. Story
Sophie is such a beautiful pup! This girl was a stray on the streets of Memphis when the shelter picked her up. She was set to be euthanized, so we had to help. Soph is house and crate trained, though the crate is not her favorite place to be. However, for the past few weeks, she hasn't needed to be crated her while her foster works, because she behaves and hasn't gotten into any mischief. But, be fair warned, this lady is very partial to footwear, so if she sees a flip flop or shoe, she thinks it's a chew toy so those must be kept out of reach! Her foster calls her a sweet and sour patch kid because she can be sweet (loves to cuddle with her human) or she is crazy playful and just wants to romp and wrestle. She does play hard at times, but has now learned to take correction from her foster siblings when she gets to be too much for them.Sophie does good in the car and in stores and loves to go to doggy daycare and for walks. She is doing much better on a leash. At first she may pull with excitement, but then will calm down. When she sees other dogs, she will stop and watch them. Once her foster gets her attention back, she continues on her journey. The best home for this energetic girl would be an active one and ideally, she would love to have another young lively dog to run around with and be her playmate.Let us know if you are interested in this great girl by submitting an application.
