Story
Karma is an outgoing, high energy girl who enjoys playing with people and has been known to bop humans with her toys from time to time. She is very people oriented, but still needs help channeling her excitement and will need the support of her humans to tackle the fun challenge of positive reinforcement training.OTHER PETS: Karma has a very active prey drive, she should not live with small dogs or cats. She can be pushy with other dogs so she should meet any dog she may be living with to ensure a good match.[Case-By-Case *NO SMALL DOGS NO CATS* (Must Meet First)] OWNER EXPERIENCE: Someone who has experience with athletic, high energy dogs would be a good fit for Karma.[Some Experience] KIDS: Karma is jumpy, sometimes muzzle punches (booping with her nose), and is uncomfortable with some handling. Karma's best fit would be in a home with adults and older teens only. [15+ (Must Meet First)]ACTIVITY LEVEL: Karma has a lot of energy and will need appropriate ways to channel it to ensure she does not amuse herself at her owner's belongings expense. Multiple or longer daily walks would be a great idea, and supervised outdoor playtime will give Karma the chance to roll around and be a goofy wiggle butt. [Olympic Athlete]VETERINARY CARE: [Routine] LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Positive reinforcement training will help Karma bond with her new owner as well as help her learn important skills. Karma may be able to work on reducing her prey drive if her owner seeks the assistance of a qualified Veterinary Behavorist, however to keep animals safe Karma should not have access to small dogs or other animals. Story
Cupcake came to TJO a little timid, but curious about her new surroundings. She is reserved in the kennel, but once she warms up and gets outside she loves to play! She tends to pull on the leash to reach all the smells, and will jump up to get the attention of her favorite people, but with some positive reinforcement training and some decompression in her new home, she'll be a wonderful companion to hang out with after a walk around the block. OTHER PETS: Cupcake initiated play with other dogs, and would likely get along with other playful dogs that will match or tolerate her play style. NO CATS [Likely (Must Meet First)] OWNER EXPERIENCE: Because Cupcake can get overexcited with people, she would likely do best with someone who has some modern knowledge of dog behavior and body language. [Some Experience] KIDS: Cupcake is uncomfortable with some types of handling and can be jumpy with people, so she would likely fit best in a home with kids who are old enough to understand how to interact with her and won't be knocked over easily. She also has some intensity around her food, so she should live with people that are able to respect her boundaries and leave her alone while she eats. [15+ (Must Meet First)] ACTIVITY LEVEL: While Cupcake is reserved and observant in her kennel, once she's out she's ready to rock! She's super playful with people and loves going for walks outside--though she does pull on the leash quite a bit at this time. [Good Walking Buddy] VETERINARY CARE: Cupcake is a healthy dog overall, but she did arrive at TJO with some skin issues that she's still being treated for. It is currently unknown whether her skin issues are long-term or temporary, so it's possible she may need on-going medicated baths or a restricted diet. [Above Average] LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Cupcake can be jumpy and pulls at the end of the leash. Depending on her new family's preferences, she may need help learning how to walk loosely on leash and greet people from the ground. Positive reinforcement training will help Cupcake with not only learning her basic cues & skills, but also help her to bond with her new owner. [Moderate] GROOMING: While Cupcake has short fur, she may require medicated baths every so often to maintain her skin health. [Minimal]January 12, 2025, 10:47 am

Story
Lyla arrived at TJO a little worse for wear, but with no shortage of sweetness. She's still currently working on gaining weight and fixing up some skin issues, but she's a loveable gal who has more interest in people than toys, and loves getting to play with other dogs! She can be intense with her food, so it's important that she's left alone while she eats to avoid any unnecessary sense of conflict. OTHER PETS: Lyla got along with other dogs and invited play appropriately, but she doesn't quite understand when other dogs aren't interested in joining her. She can get overexcited, and that can be overwhelming for some dogs. Her best match would likely be another dog that can match her energy level and play style, while also being tolerant as she learns how to interact. [Likely (Must Meet First)] OWNER EXPERIENCE: Someone who has experience with dogs with skin issues that can be dedicated to maintaining Lyla's health would be ideal in order to keep her comfortable throughout her life. [Some Experience] KIDS: Lyla can be mouthy when being scratched and is intense about her food. She would do best in a home with children that are old enough to respect her boundaries and allow her to approach when ready. [15+ (Must Meet First)] ACTIVITY LEVEL: Lyla is a sweet, wiggly girl who would be a great partner for walks around the block! While she loves hanging out with her people, it's important for her to get both physical exercise and mental enrichment to make sure she doesn't create unsafe entertainment. [Good Walking Buddy] VETERINARY CARE: Lyla arrived at TJO with an ear and skin infection that she's still being treated for. It's likely that her skin issues are the result of allergies, so it's possible that she may need on-going medicated baths or a restricted diet to maintain her coat health. [Above Average] LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Lyla is still at the beginning of her positive reinforcement training journey, and will do best learning with someone who can offer both patience and support while she adjusts. Positive reinforcement training will help Lyla not only learn her basic cues, but also help her to feel more comfortable and confident in herself while bonding with her guardian! [Moderate] GROOMING: While Lyla has short fur, she may require medicated baths every so often to maintain her skin health. [Minimal]January 15, 2025, 9:11 am

Story
OTHER PETS: Einstein is excited with dogs and showed some rude behavior towards other male dogs. He would likely do best with a tolerant, confident, female dog who will help him learn appropriate dog to dog behavior with proper monitoring and supervision. As with all our dogs, Einstein should meet any dog he would be living with prior to adoption. [Case-by-Case (Must Meet First) **NO CATS**]OWNER EXPERIENCE: Einstein is uncomfortable with some handling, intense about his food & has shown pushy/rude behavior toward male dogs. His best fit would be with a person who has experience building confidence in dogs and supporting them while they learn appropriate behavior with positive reinforcement. [Some Experience] KIDS: Einstein gets excited during play, becomes intense & does not always settle appropriately afterward. He is also uncomfortable with some handling, intense about food & has a high activity level. Einstein's best fit would be in an active home with older teens and no cats. As with all our adoptable dogs, Einstein should meet any minor humans he would be living with prior to adoption.[15+ (Must Meet First)]ACTIVITY LEVEL: Einstein is a smart, playful dog with energy to spare. He would do best with multiple daily walks and positive reinforcement training to continue building his confidence and skills. With appropriate positive training, he would be great at dog sports or being an adventure companion to his humans. A combination of mental enrichment and playtime will help meet his needs without overstimulating him. [Olympic Athlete]VETERINARY CARE: [Routine] GROOMING: [Minimal] LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Positive reinforcement training will help Einstein bond with his new owner, build his confidence, learn basic cues and skills, possibly help him feel more comfortable with other dogs, and play with humans politely, and open up a variety of activities for exercise and recreation. Einstein is observant and catches on quickly even though we believe he has not yet benefitted from positive reinforcement training. [Moderate]January 30, 2025, 7:14 pm

Details
Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Gandolph initially came to TJO in May of 2024, underweight and wary of new people, but with time and love from his previous owner he has come out of his shell beautifully! He loves to play with both people and other dogs, though he can play a bit too roughly for some. OTHER PETS: Gandolph would likely do well living with other dogs, but because he tends to prefer a rough & rowdy play style, he should meet any other dogs he would be living with to ensure a good fit. Gandolph has also previously lived with cats, and seemed to do well with them! Slow introductions will help ensure a good match. [Likely (Must Meet First)] OWNER EXPERIENCE: Gandolph may still be timid with new people, and will do best with someone who has the patience to help him settle into his new home; any prior experience helping dogs build confidence would be helpful in making Gandolph feel safe. [Some Experience] KIDS: Gandolph would likely do well with children that he meets in the community, but those that live with him need to understand not to try to take food away from him. He did not exhibit resource guarding during his time at the shelter, and was gentle taking treats, but in order to set Gandolph up for success his boundaries should be respected. [15+ (Must Meet First)]ACTIVITY LEVEL: Gandolph may prove to have more energy than he is currently exhibiting in the kennels once he is settled in and feels safe in his new home. He enjoys spending time outside and using his nose to explore the world around him. Multiple daily walks and plenty of mental enrichment would be ideal for Gandolph. [Good Walking Buddy] VETERINARY CARE: [Routine] GROOMING: [Minimal] LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Positive reinforcement training will help Gandolph gain confidence and build trust with his new owner, as well as help him learn important skills. Gandolph can be nervous around new things, and may need extra support and confidence-building in a new home and environment. With the support of his owner and some patience, Gandolph will be able to tackle any challenge set before him. He currently pulls on the leash and jumps up on tables, but nothing that can't be helped with a bit of positive reinforcement! [Minimal]January 29, 2025, 10:34 am

Neesy is about 6 years old. She is very good with adults and children. She likes to play with her toys during the day and snuggle at night. She's a sweet, gentle girl who is fully house trained. She is up to date on all her shots and vet visits (paperwork confirmation can be provided). She prefers to be the dominant dog so a single pet family will work best for her. She does not shed a lot either.
