Story
Meet Dory – A Survivor with a Gentle Heart Hi, I’m Dory! I’m a calm, sweet girl with a big heart, ready to find my forever home. I get along wonderfully with dogs of all sizes and love being by your side, whether we’re enjoying a short walk, a car ride, or just relaxing together. My journey hasn’t been easy. I spent over two months in a shelter with broken legs and a dislocated hip, waiting for someone to save me. When my foster mom rescued me, I needed urgent surgery to survive. Thanks to her care, I’m here today, ready for a fresh start. I’m polite, quiet, and well-behaved—perfect for a small yard or apartment. While I might limp after longer walks, I still love visiting plant nurseries and stores, soaking up attention and affection. If you’re looking for a loyal, low-energy companion with a story of resilience and a heart full of love, I’d love to be yours. Could you be my happily ever after? Paws From Afar believes that all dogs should have adventures as often as possible; they need a change of scenery, smellery, new paths to explore, or oceans to swim in.  Pet insurance is required prior to pickup, please make sure you calculate this into your monthly expenses we recommend Trupanion Why Trupanion? 1) Coverage for all new injuries and illnesses 2) They pay directly to the hospital or facility 3) Unlimited payout for the lifetime of your pet. If the pup is still listed, then they are still available. Story
Hunter is a gentle 60-pound Pitbull mix with a heart of gold. This strong boy, about a year old, was found running loose on the back roads of Tennessee, but despite his tough start, he's in great shape with a silky black coat. While no one has come forward to claim him, Hunter is patiently waiting for a loving family to call his own! Hunter enjoys his daily walks and is working on not pulling on the leash. ‍&#226&#153&#130&#239&#184&#143 He’s curious, playful, and loves other dogs! He’s been sharing a pen with a Boxer, though we feed him separately to avoid any food aggression. Hunter does the cutest little dance when it’s time for his meals or walks—it’s sure to put a smile on your face! While he hasn’t been tested with cats or kids yet, Hunter did have a run-in with a neighbor’s chicken , so he might be best suited to a home without small livestock. Critter Cavalry Rescue is a Middle Tennessee-based 501(c)(3) that travels to the Northeast states weekly, helping high-risk homeless animals like Hunter find their forever homes. Story
Dakota was adopted out and came back to us after years in a home. She’s an older girl and needs a forever home to grow old in! While she could use a diet, she is an active girl and loves going on runs/walks! She prefers male dogs. Dakota is good on and off leash, and she is smart and food motivated. While Dakota loves her people, she would do best with older, dog experienced children, as she’s getting old and could potentially be grumpy. Her perfect life would consist of walks and yard time, and then cuddling at night!

Story
I'm Randall! When I came to the shelter I was in bad shape, I was bald and skinny but the girls took great care of me and now I'm healthy as can be! I am a bit afraid of new situations and need some encouragement but in my past when I went to new places people weren't very nice and shoed me away, so I'm trying to learn not everyone is going to do that. I am great with other dogs and cats because after all in my experience they were never mean to me! The girls here at the shelter are doing a great job at showing me I can trust people and I am learning everyday!
