Story
Meet Dory – A Survivor with a Gentle Heart Hi, I’m Dory! I’m a calm, sweet girl with a big heart, ready to find my forever home. I get along wonderfully with dogs of all sizes and love being by your side, whether we’re enjoying a short walk, a car ride, or just relaxing together. My journey hasn’t been easy. I spent over two months in a shelter with broken legs and a dislocated hip, waiting for someone to save me. When my foster mom rescued me, I needed urgent surgery to survive. Thanks to her care, I’m here today, ready for a fresh start. I’m polite, quiet, and well-behaved—perfect for a small yard or apartment. While I might limp after longer walks, I still love visiting plant nurseries and stores, soaking up attention and affection. If you’re looking for a loyal, low-energy companion with a story of resilience and a heart full of love, I’d love to be yours. Could you be my happily ever after? Paws From Afar believes that all dogs should have adventures as often as possible; they need a change of scenery, smellery, new paths to explore, or oceans to swim in.  Pet insurance is required prior to pickup, please make sure you calculate this into your monthly expenses we recommend Trupanion Why Trupanion? 1) Coverage for all new injuries and illnesses 2) They pay directly to the hospital or facility 3) Unlimited payout for the lifetime of your pet. Please send a copy of your policy to deb@pawsfromafar.org Dory is in Houston and will be transported up here once she is adopted. She is up-to-date on all vaccines and will be altered when they arrive to you, The adoption fee is $600. The adoption fee includes all vetting and transport from Texas. If the pup is still listed, then they are still available. Keep in mind that we bring our dog up from the south and if you require a meet and greet, we are not the right rescue for you, we are happy to put you in touch with the pups fosters prior to adoption.   To submit your adoption application, please visit pawsfromafar.org. Please refrain from sending "I'm interested" messages. If the dog is still listed, we will reach out to you if we decide to move forward with your application. Thank you for your understanding! We look forward to seeing your applications! ##2255815##

Story
Lolita is a lively bully breed/terrier mix! She LOVES people and other dogs. She would love a playmate! She has a lot of energy, so training and manners would do her well! She’s highly food and toy motivated. Lolita is bound to make you laugh— she’s a silly girl! She hasn’t had direct contact with any of our cats, but has seen them through a baby gate and showed little interest; she from sniffed and just went back to her toys! She still potties in her kennel. She LOVES children but would do best with older children since she tends to jump which can result in scratching. Lolita is a lovely little girl ready for a home— she will light up your life with laughter and fun!

Story
Meet Lightning! Lightning is a girl true to her name. She`s quick-she`s energetic-she`s nimble! This sweet girl has an infectious, excitable personality and is looking for a home ready to keep her enriched! We recommend using `good judgement` for cats, dogs, and kids. She did live in a multi-dog home before her stay at BHS, but may prefer a single dog household. Potential adopters must have all dogs in the home meet with Lightning at the shelter before adoption. We are recommending felines in the home be dog savvy and have ample space for introductions. Lightning is a talented escape artist when not kept busy, so we do not recommend leaving her unattended outside. Lightning would love to join `her people` in an active retirement lifestyle! Are you Lightning`s people? Stop by the shelter and visit her today!

Story
We are pleased to introduce you to Wren, a playful and social girl who’s ready to find her forever family! Wren arrived at BHS as a stray, so we don’t know much about her past, but she’s proven to be a sweet and affectionate companion. She enjoys walks and does great in the car—she’s always up for an adventure! Wren has been wonderful around children ages 9-13, though all interactions should be supervised by an adult. We recommend using “good judgment” when introducing her to dog-savvy canines and felines. Proper introductions and being sure everyone has their own space will be key. Wren is a fun-loving girl who can’t wait to share her playful spirit and make lasting memories with her new family!

Story
Hunter is a gentle 60-pound Pitbull mix with a heart of gold. This strong boy, about a year old, was found running loose on the back roads of Tennessee, but despite his tough start, he's in great shape with a silky black coat. While no one has come forward to claim him, Hunter is patiently waiting for a loving family to call his own! Hunter enjoys his daily walks and is working on not pulling on the leash. ‍&#226&#153&#130&#239&#184&#143 He’s curious, playful, and loves other dogs! He’s been sharing a pen with a Boxer, though we feed him separately to avoid any food aggression. Hunter does the cutest little dance when it’s time for his meals or walks—it’s sure to put a smile on your face! While he hasn’t been tested with cats or kids yet, Hunter did have a run-in with a neighbor’s chicken , so he might be best suited to a home without small livestock. Critter Cavalry Rescue is a Middle Tennessee-based 501(c)(3) that travels to the Northeast states weekly, helping high-risk homeless animals like Hunter find their forever homes. For more info on our mission, adoption fees, and drop-off points, visit us at CritterCavalry.com! &#226&#156&#168 Are you ready to give this playful boy a chance at a new beginning? &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 Email us at ccrnewengland@gmail.com to request an adoption application.  PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.November 4, 2024, 11:48 pm
