Story
https://www.facebook.com/truelovingcompanion/ Letters from Cyiah: I rescued a human today. Her eyes met mine as she walked down the corridor, worriedly looking into the kennels. I instantly felt her need and knew I had to help her. As she stopped at my kennel I moved to the front, leaned my shoulder forward and gave a little wag. I will admit, it was hard to be brave in the shelter environment. I didn’t want her to see, but I did tremble a bit. As she read my kennel card, I hoped that she wouldn't feel sad about my past as I have a bright future ahead. She got down on her knees and began to speak to me. I wanted to say it was going to be okay but instead I got closer and leaned my head against the cage bars to comfort her. Her gentle fingers caressed my neck, her eyes filled with tears, and then came the moment; she smiled at me. I promised to keep her safe, to do everything I could to see that sweet smile, and sparkle in her eyes again. ********************************************************************************************* I’m in a foster home now. I’m bathed, settled and fed, and tucked warmly in my new bed. I should begin to unpack my baggage, lest I forget. There has been so much to carry, so much regret. Let’s start at the top, where I’ll first unpack Loneliness, Heartache, and Loss. There by my leash hides Fear and Shame and I still have to unpack my baggage called Pain. I loved them so much, the family I once had, the ones who left me with nothing but my bag. Can you help me unpack please? I pray that you can, for I’m so tired you see, but I do come with baggage, will you still want me? ********************************************************************************************* Sadly, Cyiah’s history is a mystery, as she was brought into the shelter as a stray. She captured the attention of one of our representatives while she was there, which is how she became to be in our rescue. She’s in a foster home now where she’s doing amazing. She is housebroken, crate-trained, playful and sweet and does the best cheese smile you will ever see. Though social with people and dogs, she does take time to warm up. She will need a special family that will be understanding, loving and patient, that will give her the time she needs to unpack her baggage!

Story
Louie is 57 lbs of sweet, lovable, smoochy goodness! This absolute gem of a pup was dumped along with his two lady friends and a dozen puppies and it turned out to be the beginning of all good things for all of them. Louie is now safe with CPR, finished his vetting, and ready to start his new life in a home where he will be loved and cared for. He is well socialized, getting along well with other dogs and enjoying attention & affection from people. He needs a home with no cats. He rides nice in the car, is walking well on a leash, and he is smart & treat motivated so training him will be really rewarding. He really enjoys being with people and other dogs, so someone who is home a lot would be ideal for him. He's not a fan of being crated. Louie will be loads of fun playing in the yard, a great partner for your walks around the neighborhood, and will happily go wherever his people are off to. He is just a big, lovable smoosh of a dog and he's going to make his new people extremely happy. Louie is spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and current on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. All dogs 6 month + receive a Proheart 6 injection at the time of their heartworm test. She is full of energy, knows some commands and does well on leash.Does have a problem keeping her feet on the ground. Not a problem riding in the car or getting into a crate. Story
Panda or puppy?? That is the question! We vote for puppy but definitely cute as a panda bear. This little cutie patootie is waiting for you at our adoption center in Southbury. She's very snuggly and will be a fun addition to any loving home. She enjoys playing with puppy friends and loves all the nice humans that she meets. Apply to adopt Rio today at www.cprdogs.com!! This puppy Is spayed/neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, treated for all of the intestinal parasites, and current on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. Because intestinal parasites are cyclical, your puppy may need additional treatment once you get him/her home. This is common and nothing to be alarmed about. Puppies and dogs need to be treated periodically for parasites throughout their entire lives. Visit our website to see our weekend Events here! Pups with the designated “meet me” next to their names are in CT and ready to attend adoption events. Please check with your adoption coordinator if you are interested in a specific dog prior to coming to an event, as a dog's availability to attend can change at any time. The adoption fee is $600 which includes spay/neuter, up to date vaccinations, flea/tick and heartworm preventatives, and the mandatory CT HB 5368 fee. More and more of our adopters are having fun with DNA tests on their pups. You might ask yourself why our breed guess is varying degrees of difference from the DNA tests. Most of our puppies are rescued from high kill shelters or other abandonment situations and we have no info on parents. When we rescue puppies that have no background info, we make our very best educated guess as to breed mix and age. Our guesstimate comes from years and years and years of animal welfare work and training, but our guesses won't always agree with your vet, your neighbor, your DNA test, etc. The most important thing to know about your puppy's breed mix is that most likely he/she is a Super Lovable Mutt made of many many many different breeds. If you are a MA resident, your new family member is required to go through a mandatory 48 hour quarantine period at the Woburn MA isolation facility. Your new family member will be dropped off by our transport on Thursday and will be ready for you to pick him/her up on Saturday between 11 am-1 pm.
