Story
Lou is an adorable 11-month-old Pit Bull Terrier mix with an endless supply of energy! This affectionate boy is happiest when he's around people, is really snuggly and loving but is still learning how to be appropriate with his affection. Lou has a playful spirit and will need plenty of enrichment to keep his clever mind engaged. He will be a great match for someone who can provide him with activities like Kongs/puzzle toys in between long-leash walks to help him burn off energy while exploring his surroundings.Training is a positive experience for Lou thanks to his food motivation and he's doing really well learning various cues like "sit" and showing great potential, though he'll need a bit more guidance in managing his excitement-especially when it comes to jumping up to say hello. Lou also needs some training with leash walking, as he sometimes pulls and jumps up when something catches his eye, however with consistent training his enthusiastic personality can be channeled into being the best buddy on walks and adventures. He does have a mischievous side and loves to play with and even chew any soft toys, blankets and beds. He loves them so much they may even end up becoming his next snack! He will need durable chew toys and a watchful eye to keep him safe. While Lou would like to be the only animal in the home, he would love to have doggy friends that he can meet up with to zoom around and get his beans out! If you're ready for a loyal, lively companion who will keep you laughing, brighten your days, and keep you busy, Lou could be the perfect addition to your family!Put in an application in today to see if you could be a match! Story
Meet Snowflake, a dog whose energy is more like a blizzard than a soft, gentle snowflake! Snowflake is a high-energy pup with a heart full of potential, and he's ready to put his energy to good use. He's currently on a training routine to become the best boy he can be, and with positive reinforcement, he's learning to keep his paws on the ground and improve his basic manners. He's still got some work to do, but he's eager to learn and is making great progress!Snowflake thrives on a consistent routine and needs his brain kept busy to prevent him from acting out like a playful toddler. Mental stimulation and structure are key to helping him stay happy and well-behaved. He'll do best in an adult-only home with no other pets, where he can receive the focused attention and consistency he needs to thrive. Snowflake's playful spirit and eagerness to please will melt your heart, and with the right guidance, he's sure to be the loyal, loving companion you've been looking for! Story
**Currently fostered in Houston Texas but is available for out of state adoption via rescue transportation. Virtual meet and greet offered prior to adoption commitment** Kyra is a happy go lucky pup who found herself abandoned on the streets. She was emaciated, had poor skin and just full of worms. Thankfully an amazing woman found her and took her in. She got her clean, well fed, and fully vetted. Now, Kyra is ready to start the next chapter in her adventure! Kyra is just over 2 years old, and is a total hambone of a dog. We believe she is some kind of pitbull, retriever, hound mix. Basically what we call, a Texas Street Special! Whatever her breed, she is all adventure pup and very eager for life. Kyra loves people, I don't think she could ever meet a stranger. She's extremely loving, and enjoys cuddles on the couch, giving kisses, and looking cute for treats! We think she would even do wonderfully with children. Kyra has done wonderful with other dogs as well. She is fantastic at her doggie daycare, does well at dog parks, and loves to play. She doesn't mind the cats, She does chase them at times when she just wants to play. Kyra is not an aggressive dog, but she can lack the meaning of personal space and some of the cats we've introduced her to have not taken kindly to that. We think she could do well in just about any home, however, she would prefer to have regular play mates that can keep up with her be it siblings or play mates from friends, neighbors or daycare environment. She just wants to enjoy life with someone! Kyra does very well with training, mostly due to the fact that she's so smart. She learns quickly, and at times, can be TOO smart. Like how she knows how to push the door open if it's not latched properly. She knows her basics such as sit, kennel, stay. Her only need for training is working on her impulse control. She is fully crate trained, and is doing fantastic with her leash training. She is housebroken, but being such a big pup still, we suggest using a kennel until fully acclimated. Though she quite enjoys cuddling in the bed or couch. Kyra is fully vetted, meaning she is current on all vaccinations and preventions. She is spayed as well as microchipped too. Story
Hi my name is Bronx and I am a handsome but pretty shy guy. I need some time to warm up to people and to trust that you won't hurt me. i have had a hard past and wasn't treated so well so I'm pretty scared of most people right now. I would never hurt anyone but I will definitely run away if you come on too strong. I have made a couple of human friends in these nice girls that work at the shelter and have shown them how sweet and gentle I am now that I know they won't hit me. It may take me some to warm up to you but I promise to be a good boy if you treat me with kindness. I'm sorry, I think I am too scared to be around children but maybe older teenagers would be ok. I do love other dogs though and enjoy playing with my many doggie friends here at the shelter. I don't want to fetch or chase anything, the girls say I have low prey drive, whatever that is. I might even be ok with cats but they don't have any here for me to visit with so I can't say for sure. What I need is to get out of the shelter and into a home where I can feel safe and be petted and loved and lay in a nice dog bed. I walk very nicely on a leash and I don't react to anything. But I don't want strangers trying to pet me, it's a scary thing for me and it makes me want to retreat. Can you be my forever home? I need someone that can promise to keep me safe. I will be neutered soon and am up to date on my shots. At City of Vancouver Animal Services, we have a foster-to-adopt program whereby prospective new owners foster the adoptable animal for 21 days before committing to adoption. This ensures that both the new owner and the adoptable animal are well suited to each other. Adoption Fee $374 Includes: -Spay/Neuter -First set of shots -One vet visit -Microchip -Bag of food If you live in Vancouver, you will also need to buy a dog license.

Story
Chase is a sweet boy, he loves people and seems to like other dogs, however, we always recommend slow introductions. He came from a free-roaming lifestyle and is ready to settle down with his family at home! This goofy boy is not suited to live with children, as he gets a little bit too excited sometimes. He is a good listener, and will do great with some basic obedience and training with his manners.Chase loves to play, he is having fun playing fetch and is more than willing to bring you the ball back for another toss. He loves squeaky toys, but having fun is general is all he's after! If you are interested in adopting, please fill out the application below,https://spca.bc.ca/adoption/dog-pre-adoption-questionnaire/ Primary Color: White Secondary Color: Brindle Weight: 24 Age: 1yrs 0mths 4wks

Story
Sweet Ben is ready to find his family!Ben arrived to us as a stray that went unclaimed, so no background history is known. He is very energetic and loves to play tug of war. Although sometimes he gets carried away and will start tugging on your sleeve instead of the toy. He also gets a little too excited and will jump up and get mouthy, so we are recommending no young children.Ben will need an active home that is willing to work on some basics, as he is still learning to walk on leash and be inside buildings. Ben loves his people time, and looks forward to cozying up on the couch with his people. He isn't too bothered being alone during the day, he loves a stuffed kong to keep him busy while his people are away. He enjoys a game of chase/catch me if you can in a fenced yard and is an overall happy guy!If you are interested in adopting Ben, please will out the application below.https://spca.bc.ca/adoption/dog-pre-adoption-questionnaire/ Primary Color: Red Gold Weight: 28.5 Age: 0yrs 7mths 4wks
