Story
Lou is an adorable 8-month-old Pit Bull Terrier mix puppy with a heart full of love and an endless supply of energy! This affectionate boy is happiest when he's around people, showering them with puppy love and big smiles. Lou has a playful spirit and will need plenty of enrichment to keep his clever mind engaged. He's a perfect match for someone who can provide him with toys like Kongs and puzzle games, as well as long-leash walks to help him burn off energy while exploring his surroundings.Training is a positive experience for Lou, thanks to his food motivation! He's picking up cues like "sit" and showing great potential, though he'll need a bit more guidance in managing his excitement-especially when it comes to jumping up to say hello. Lou also needs some training with leash walking, as he sometimes pulls and jumps up when something catches his eye. With consistent training, his enthusiastic personality can be channeled into being the best buddy on walks and adventures.Lou has shown potential for getting along with other dogs and would likely enjoy having a canine companion. A meet-and-greet with any potential dog siblings would be a great way to ensure a happy match! Lou is still awaiting his neuter surgery, so for now, we're accepting only local applications. If you're ready for a loyal, lively companion who will keep you laughing and brighten your days, Lou could be the perfect addition to your family! Story
**Currently fostered in Houston Texas but is available for out of state adoption via rescue transportation. Virtual meet and greet offered prior to adoption commitment** Kyra is a happy go lucky pup who found herself abandoned on the streets. She was emaciated, had poor skin and just full of worms. Thankfully an amazing woman found her and took her in. She got her clean, well fed, and fully vetted. Now, Kyra is ready to start the next chapter in her adventure! Kyra is just over 2 years old, and is a total hambone of a dog. We believe she is some kind of pitbull, retriever, hound mix. Basically what we call, a Texas Street Special! Whatever her breed, she is all adventure pup and very eager for life. Kyra loves people, I don't think she could ever meet a stranger. She's extremely loving, and enjoys cuddles on the couch, giving kisses, and looking cute for treats! We think she would even do wonderfully with children. Kyra has done wonderful with other dogs as well. She is fantastic at her doggie daycare, does well at dog parks, and loves to play. She doesn't mind the cats, She does chase them at times when she just wants to play. Kyra is not an aggressive dog, but she can lack the meaning of personal space and some of the cats we've introduced her to have not taken kindly to that. We think she could do well in just about any home, however, she would prefer to have regular play mates that can keep up with her be it siblings or play mates from friends, neighbors or daycare environment. She just wants to enjoy life with someone! Kyra does very well with training, mostly due to the fact that she's so smart. She learns quickly, and at times, can be TOO smart. Like how she knows how to push the door open if it's not latched properly. She knows her basics such as sit, kennel, stay. Her only need for training is working on her impulse control. She is fully crate trained, and is doing fantastic with her leash training. She is housebroken, but being such a big pup still, we suggest using a kennel until fully acclimated. Though she quite enjoys cuddling in the bed or couch. Kyra is fully vetted, meaning she is current on all vaccinations and preventions. She is spayed as well as microchipped too. Story
Say hello to Massimo! This young boy is full of energy and loves to play in our yard with his toys. He is very tidy and fully house-trained. He came from a home with a small breed dog and he gets along with the other dogs in the shelter so with proper introductions he would be great in a home that is looking for a second dog. His life experience has been very limited and he is still getting used to the world so he does need a lot of support and encouragement to feel safe when experiencing new places and new things. Massimo struggles with this when he goes on leashed walks and pulls the leash because he is scared. Massimo's new home will need to teach him how to feel secure by slowly introducing him to his new world with lots of praise and positive rewards. While he has been with us in the shelter he has shown signs of distress when he is left alone and in a home this may present as barking and whining. He would benefit from a home that has a flexible work schedule that allows him plenty of time with his new family and learning to be left alone through small increments. Do you think you could be Massimo's forever home? Come to the Burnaby SPCA during our adoption hours and meet him in person! Story
✅Currently located in South Korea✅️ 💟Available to fly to Vancouver & Toronto💟 Meet Mina💞 * Interaction with People: Likes people! Is shy initially with strangers but soon approaches them with affection and acts charming. Is not usually the type to approach first but does not shy away from contact, enjoying and accepting gentle touches. * Interaction with Dogs: Gets along well with other dogs. Is often the first to greet new dogs at the Center and welcomes those approaching her without reservation. Tolerates playful nips well from other dogs. Mingles with any dog without confrontation. * Separation Anxiety: It’s hard to determine because she is residing in a group at the Center. Appears content and relaxed even when alone. * Potty Training: Uses currently outdoors potty while living at the Center. Prefers outdoor potty but occasionally has potty accidents in her kennel when it is urgent. * Hygiene: Stays still while being touched by humans. Accepts baths and brushing nicely. Is patient enough to have her nail trimmed quietly once her paws are properly held. * Walks: Is currently under training because she does not feel comfortable at going for walk for now. There is no resistance to wear a collar or harness. Wears clothes well but takes them off promptly on her own maybe due to their tight feeling. 💌Special Notes💌 * Her skin discoloration should improve in a cleaner environment. * Though timid, Mina sometimes acts boldly. Her attraction is charm and smile even though her personality is somewhat cat-like. ❗Health Status❗ * Neutering: Done * Others: Microchipped, heartworm negative * Due to the muddy conditions at the Center, Mina’s legs have become discolored from constant contact with dirt. This has not affected her health or skin condition. * She is getting weekly medicated baths due to skin trouble presumably caused by allergies.
