Story
Nash is a 2.5 year old pure bred American bully (neutered). He is 82 lbs, but he thinks he is 20!! Nash is such an amazing dog and our hearts are broken that we need to rehome him. He is super cuddly and knows all of his basic commands. He has his CGC and CGCA certifications. Even though Nash knows all his commands he is a very stubborn dog and likes to do things on his own schedule or for treats. Nash is an excellent walking buddy and does not pull on a leash at all. He does love a good walk but is just as happy spending the day on the couch. The reason we are rehoming him is because about 9 months ago him and our older dog started fighting. They have gone after each other multiple times and have given each other significant injuries. We now only have one dog out at a time and they do not interact with each other. This has become very challenging as we just had a baby 5 months ago. We can’t risk a fight between the dogs with a baby in the house.

Story
Meet Grandpa Joe! This 12-years young elderbull came to us from local animal control after his owner could no longer care for him and we are swooning over his specialness. Joe is a gentle senior with the softest tail wag we’ve seen, and at over 80 lbs is a big boy. When we met this seasoned GrandPAW last month, he was in rough shape, even after beginning a great medical plan while in animal control. He had the worst ear and paw infections we’ve ever seen, extensive arthritis and muscle atrophy, and other medical concerns...all of which we are still treating. This mature pup is almost completely deaf and sleeps peacefully and soundly. He has had 2 Librela injections to help with arthritic pain. And while he didn’t immediately jump out of bed and dance like the real Grandpa Joe in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the injections are helping, and these would need to be continued monthly. Even with this treatment, Joe can’t navigate stairs and needs assistance to navigate even a step or two to go outside.  Despite all that’s going on, Joe is still enjoying all that life has to offer! He loves soft toys, treats, eating snow, sniffing around the yard, and being part of the action. He wobbles from room-to-room and dog bed-to-bed to make sure he doesn’t miss out on a thing. He tolerates handling, taking medication, and getting his ear cleaned like a champ and is a resilient pup who still experiences so much joy. He LOVES to be close! His current foster is sleeping on a mattress on the floor with him and he is a cuddlebug in a human sized body! Grandpa Joe is in his golden years, and we strongly believe that senior pitizens are the best! He sleeps through the night (and much of the day) and has limited demands. Caring for him physically is really all that’s required, along with a warm and comfortable home to call his own for all of his days. Due to his age, and the aches and pains of being an aging adult, older or no kids would be best for this special and distinguished soul. Grandpa Joe’s top 3 priorities: 1. A family with kind hands and open hearts who will make this sweet and deserving senior man feel nothing but love for all of his days. 2. A family who understands that a seasoned soul like Grandpa might be a vintage edition but still has soooo much love to give. 3. A family who understands the physical demands of an 80-lb pup with mobility issues and has a set-up that will accommodate these needs. Carpet runners, pee pads, lots of dog beds, minimal or no stairs, etc.January 28, 2025, 1:40 pm

Story
Meet Zeke! Zeke was so well loved at the shelter that he lasted six weeks before he was in danger of losing his life. Luckily we stepped in and we definitely lucked out getting this guy. Zeke is a pretty chilled dude. He is a thick, short boy with big, soulful eyes that are hard to say no to. Zeke loves to be close: seeking attention and sitting on your feet. He enjoys being anywhere you are. Zeke gets on with other dogs but hadn't been well socialized before and still needs work on his manners: slow introductions are best, according to our trainer. He is neutered, up to-date on vaccines and microchipped. Zeke would make someone a great pet and companion! Could that be you?December 30, 2023, 12:05 am

Story
Big news! Polkadog Bakery has made Cleo their Pet of the Month and will not only cover her adoption fee but also send her home with tons of goodies. Cleo is three years old and now weighs a healthy 82 lbs. She came to us after being rescued from a home where she suffered from terrible neglect. She has had all of her vet care and was spayed on 1/17. She is so good for the vet and for bathing and grooming. She is gentle, sweet and affectionate. She knows sit and shake and is well-behaved in the car and enjoys car rides. She will be fun and easy to train because she loves food. Her tail never stops wagging. Our staff and volunteers love this dog and have so much fun spoiling her. Cleo was friendly with the two male Beagles we had in our care but was reactive toward a large female Shepherd, so we think it would be best for her to go to a home where she is the only dog. She is also too interested in our guinea pigs and parakeet, so she should probably not live with small critters. If you are interested in adopting a dog, please fill out our dog adoption application here: http://medfieldshelter.com/adopt. Our adoption fee for dogs ages 7 months to 7 years is $450. Dogs 8 years and up are $250. Every dog we place is vaccinated, wormed, treated for ticks/fleas, and spayed/neutered prior to adoption. We send each dog home with a collar and leash. With very few exceptions, dogs are happiest and the most well-behaved when they receive daily exercise and ongoing training, so we always prefer to place our dogs with families who are willing to make a commitment to both. All adoption meetings are by appointment only as we only have two employees. Our manager or one of our volunteers will be happy to set up an appointment for you to come meet the pets, but please fill out the adoption application first.

Story
Meet Blitz! Blitz is a 5-year-old, 55 pound working dog. He's smart, food driven, and loves playing fetch. He sleeps through the night in his crate, is house trained, loves learning new tricks, and can be good with other dogs if they allow him to calmly greet them. Blitz would do best in an adult only home, with an owner who is active. He loves going on walks, runs, hikes and car rides. He can be wary of new people, and will need someone to continue to train him on confidence building. Blitz will walk in a heel when requested, he is a quick learner, super food motivated, and will LOVE his owners immensely. Update from foster Mom: With his people, he is the BEST dog, and he's good with dogs if they aren't pushy. He's a quick learner, a cuddle bug, and house-trained. He LOVES hiking with me in the woods, has an amazing recall, and loves playing fetch. I believe he would be the best dog on a farm, where he isn't forced to interact with strangers. I strongly believe that when he is off leash, he will choose to avoid strangers as opposed to confronting them. So why has this amazing already trained pup been with us so long? He doesn't do too well with strangers. We've gotten people interested, but seemingly they seem to ignore his "wary of new people" bit in his bio, and those who have applied want a friendly dog who is ok with meeting everyone. Are you someone who will allow Blitz to become comfortable with strangers slowly? Maybe an active outdoorsy introvert? Or okay with leaving your pup at home while you go out to be extroverted? Blitz is AMAZING. He just needs someone who understands he isn't too fond of people until he feels safe with them. This means not allowing others to approach him on walks and when out and about. No trips to Home Depot or TJ Maxx for this guy. He only needs outings with his new parents! P.S. This means he will take time to warm up to you too! -- If you are interested in finding out more about Blitz, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO-A-67 Blitz is being fostered in Worcester. The adoption fee is $250. Like Broken Tail Rescue on Facebook!. Follow Broken Tail Rescue on Instagram! Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.

Story
Mama Gigi is a MOST ADORABLE, 46 pound, 7 year old bulldog mix seeking her forever home. She is a very sweet, loving pup, who enjoys playing with toys, going on walks, and ice cubes. Gigi is crate trained, housebroken, and knows basic commands and commands and has great manners (she only comes on furniture when invited!). She's motivated by treats and is always looking to please her humans. Gigi would do best in a quiet home, as she is happiest cuddling with her people.
