Story
Hi everyone, last year, I made the decision to rescue this beautiful boy from being put down. We truly love him so much, he just is not getting along with our little elderly dog. We tried our best to make it work but it just seems as though they do not see eye to eye. We are moving very soon and feel like the best decision would be to give him a better opportunity with another loving family. We feel as though he would thrive in a home with no other pets, and a couple/person who can give him all the attention, and exercise necessary for a young dog. He is about just about 2 years old, a huge love bug and cuddler. He knows how to sit, and understands the command “no”. This is a very hard decision, but is best to give him the quality of life he deserves. We did rename him “Duke” and are open for any and all questions! Please feel free to reach out!

Story
Meet Grandpa Joe! This 12-years young elderbull came to us from local animal control after his owner could no longer care for him and we are swooning over his specialness. Joe is a gentle senior with the softest tail wag we’ve seen, and at over 80 lbs is a big boy. When we met this seasoned GrandPAW last month, he was in rough shape, even after beginning a great medical plan while in animal control. He had the worst ear and paw infections we’ve ever seen, extensive arthritis and muscle atrophy, and other medical concerns...all of which we are still treating. This mature pup is almost completely deaf and sleeps peacefully and soundly. He has had 2 Librela injections to help with arthritic pain. And while he didn’t immediately jump out of bed and dance like the real Grandpa Joe in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the injections are helping, and these would need to be continued monthly. Even with this treatment, Joe can’t navigate stairs and needs assistance to navigate even a step or two to go outside.  Despite all that’s going on, Joe is still enjoying all that life has to offer! He loves soft toys, treats, eating snow, sniffing around the yard, and being part of the action. He wobbles from room-to-room and dog bed-to-bed to make sure he doesn’t miss out on a thing. He tolerates handling, taking medication, and getting his ear cleaned like a champ and is a resilient pup who still experiences so much joy. He LOVES to be close! His current foster is sleeping on a mattress on the floor with him and he is a cuddlebug in a human sized body! Grandpa Joe is in his golden years, and we strongly believe that senior pitizens are the best! He sleeps through the night (and much of the day) and has limited demands. Caring for him physically is really all that’s required, along with a warm and comfortable home to call his own for all of his days. Due to his age, and the aches and pains of being an aging adult, older or no kids would be best for this special and distinguished soul. Grandpa Joe’s top 3 priorities: 1. A family with kind hands and open hearts who will make this sweet and deserving senior man feel nothing but love for all of his days. 2. A family who understands that a seasoned soul like Grandpa might be a vintage edition but still has soooo much love to give. 3. A family who understands the physical demands of an 80-lb pup with mobility issues and has a set-up that will accommodate these needs. Carpet runners, pee pads, lots of dog beds, minimal or no stairs, etc.March 6, 2025, 11:53 am

Story
It`s a bird, it`s a plane... No, it`s Bella!! Faster than the speed of light, Bella is zooming right into your heart! Bella`s got a whole lot of love (and energy!!) to give to her new family! Bella is young and ready for fun, fun, fun! Bella`s list of priorities doesn`t necessarily have `learning manners,` at the top of her list (more like play, play, and play some more!) ... but she definitely needs some extra help learning how to be an upstanding canine citizen! Luckily for you, Bella has brains as well as beauty. She will be lots of fun to train, since she`s so athletic and food motivated. This long-legged lady is looking to be the star of the show... so she is not looking for a home with other dogs or cats! She could potentially live with older kids that will be okay with her rough and tumble lifestyle! If you think this dog could be a good match for your home and would like to learn more, stop by our Boston Adoption Center. We have open adoption hours Tuesday-Sunday from 12pm-3pm no appointment needed to speak to a staff person regarding available dogs. Preparing your home for your new dog or puppy ahead of time can help ease the transition for your new pet and set you both up for success should there be a dog thats a good match! To learn more about how to make the first few weeks with your new dog or puppy the most successful it can be, please visit www.mspca.org/petresources. For more information on our adoption process, please visit https://www.mspca.org/adoption-centers/how-to-adopt/ Please note, in an effort to keep the stress levels reduced for the dogs in our care, our dog kennel areas will not be open to walk through. Interested adopters will work with a matchmaker on staff to determine which dog(s) theyre interested in - and if we can identify a match, potential adopters will be able to meet those dogs outside of the kennel. Cat and small animal areas will remain open to walk through.

Story
Hello, I'm Monique! Now, don't let my name fool you, I'm a boy. Quite the goofball, if I do say so myself. I ended up here at the shelter after a hilarious mix-up. I was playing fetch with my human, and when I went to retrieve the ball, I got distracted by a squirrel. I chased it, ended up lost, and voila! Here I am. I'm a bit shy at first, but once we get to know each other, you'll see my playful side. I'm like a puppy version of a stand-up comedian. I promise to fill your life with laughter, love, and endless games of fetch. Adopt me, let's make our own fun stories!

Story
Cleo is three years old and now weighs a healthy 82 lbs. She came to us after being rescued from a home where she suffered from terrible neglect. She has had all of her vet care and was spayed on 1/17. She is so good for the vet and for bathing and grooming. She is gentle, sweet and affectionate. She knows sit and shake and is well-behaved in the car and enjoys car rides. She will be fun and easy to train because she loves food. Her tail never stops wagging. She has been spending time in a foster home and her foster mom told us, "Cleo is truly a fantastic dog. We can’t get over how quiet she is, how responsive she is, how easy she is to walk, that she’s housebroken, and that the kids next door can come over and play with her. She plays with her orange ball every night after supper like it’s the greatest gift ever." Cleo was friendly with the two male Beagles we had in our care but was reactive toward a large female Shepherd, so we think it would be best for her to go to a home where she is the only dog. She is also too interested in our guinea pigs and parakeet, so she should probably not live with small critters. If you are interested in adopting a dog, please fill out our dog adoption application here: http://medfieldshelter.com/adopt. Our adoption fee for dogs ages 7 months to 7 years is $450. Dogs 8 years and up are $250. Every dog we place is vaccinated, wormed, treated for ticks/fleas, and spayed/neutered prior to adoption. We send each dog home with a collar and leash. With very few exceptions, dogs are happiest and the most well-behaved when they receive daily exercise and ongoing training, so we always prefer to place our dogs with families who are willing to make a commitment to both. All adoption meetings are by appointment only as we only have two employees. Our manager or one of our volunteers will be happy to set up an appointment for you to come meet the pets, but please fill out the adoption application first.
