HOW TO ADOPT: This dog is available for adoption by appointment. To schedule a time to meet this dog, please email Kathryn at kvry@arl-iowa.org.---- Can be shy around new people and prefers to approach people at her pace and make friends as she feels comfortable; once she is your buddy, she likes being near you and giving kisses- Loves stuffies, tug ropes, plastic bottles, and treats- Enjoys going on walks and does well on a leash- Rides well in the car and will either look out the window or nap in the back seat - Values her personal space, and it's important to her to feel safe within her space, so quick approaches and feeling pressure to interact are not her cup of tea; positive reinforcement will be key to relationship-building and helping her feel comfortable - Knows sit, paw, speak and up - Looking for a teens-and-up home right now to set her up for success- Has lived with dogs and cats; prefers dogs who are respectful of her space and may enjoy a like-minded dog friend after a slow introduction (dog intro recommended) - May have allergies (more info at ARL) - All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age)- The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label. Primary Color: Tri Color Weight: 55.5 Age: 2yrs 1mths 4wks

- Friendly guy who will greet you with a smile and a wagging tail; enjoys being petted- Loves to chase toys then happily pick them up and show them off to everyone - Did great on a recent Dog's Day Out field trip, and here's what his human companion had to say about him: "Choo Choo is very sweet and very gentle. He was respectful of me when I ate. He is really good on lead and with a few reminders not to pull, we had no issues. He likes stuffed toys, tug and fetch. He loves the car and is great at riding, but likes to be up front rather than in the back seat. He was wiggly and cuddly, and when we sat on the couch he wanted to be on my lap. He loves forehead kisses, butt rubs and big hugs."- Knows sit, shake, and maybe more and is very treat-motivated- Likes going on walks and does best with a harness - Has done well with like-minded dogs and may enjoy dog friends in his new home - May have allergies (more info at ARL)All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age)The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs.
