Story
Grayson is a 6-year-old bulldog mix who came to us as a very hungry stray and has been working hard on rebuilding his trust in the world, one meal and one belly rub at a time. He’s silly, he’s expressive, and he has the comedic timing of a dog who knows exactly how to make humans laugh.Let’s talk food. Grayson will eat anything he thinks might even smell like food. Because he came in so underfed, he developed some food aggression, which has improved a lot now that he knows meals are consistent. Still, to keep everyone safe, we recommend a home without kids since we don’t know his full background and he takes mealtime very seriously. He arrived with a rough ear infection that left him with a signature move: the spontaneous head tilt. Not the “cute pose for Instagram” kind — more like a “wait… what just happened?” tilt. It’s unexpected, hilarious, and honestly incredibly adorable.Once Grayson decides you’re trustworthy, he becomes your shadow. He’ll listen, follow you around, and work for treats with Olympic-level enthusiasm. His love language is snacks — heavy on the snacks.Grayson would thrive with someone who:Understands his food boundariesHas no small childrenAppreciates a dog with quirks and characterLoves a loyal companion who tries his best every dayIf you’re looking for a dog with personality, charm, and a surprisingly sweet center, Grayson is ready to be your guy.

Story
- Busy pup who loves to connect with people through play and other activities; will likely enjoy physical activity and mental challenges to keep his mind and body busy- Likes toys, including giggle balls, Nylabones and other toys he can chew - Loves to give kisses - Enjoys going on walks and does best with a harness- Doesn't always understand how big he is and could use some work on his manners right now, but he is treat-motivated and would be an excellent fit for positive reinforcement-based training classes - Tends to be a linebacker-type player with other dogs; will likely do best with a select group of rough-and-tumble dog friends with a similar play style (dog intro required) - May be a bit much for young children right now and would likely do best in a home where all family members are big enough and mature enough to enjoy his energy This pet qualifies for our 7-day Foster-to-Adopt program. If you're interested in fostering to adopt, please reach out to meetme@arl-iowa.org.All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age)The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label. Primary Color: White Weight: 80.5 Age: 1yrs 8mths 0wks

Story
Ziggy is an American Bulldog mix, born Nov 2023.  Ziggy is very social with people and loves to interact with everyone, including young kids (although he might be better in a home with older kids, age 6+).  He seems to know when to be gentle and when it's okay to be hyper.  Ziggy is a very happy and active guy.  He loves to give kisses and he will lay on the couch with you (sometimes on you!). Ziggy likes to play fetch and knows some commands.  He is potty trained and will hold it while his people are away.  Ziggy is crate trained as long as you have a treat to give him when he goes in.  He will be okay with just a blanket in his crate.  (Anything else and he is likely to chew it up!)  Ziggy enjoys being active and he is leash trained, but he does pull a little initially especially when he's excited.  He needs a fenced yard where he's allowed to dig occasionally. Ziggy is very food motivated and territorial about his food and toys.  We believe he would do best in a home where he can be the only animal. Please help us find Ziggy an active home where he gets lots of love and kisses! The suggested adoption donation for Ziggy is $400, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Please Note:  A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we are only assisting the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time, owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption. Adoptions for Ziggy are limited to the area within 50 miles of Omaha so that s/he can continue to take advantage of free training from our certified positive reinforcement trainers.      Information about the adoption process:  All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note:  We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. Story
Medusa would love to be the QUEEN BEE and be appreciated for the alpha she is. She is an American Bully which is a new designer breed (mislabeled English Bulldog, Pittie, Pocketpittie, MicroBully). She is guessed to be 4 years old and around 45 lbs. Short and stocky, she is a healthy and easy dog to care for unlike the other bully breeds. Medusa can be bossy and demanding of attention, jealous when humans talk to the other dogs in her foster home. She is fostered with small and big dogs, but requires correction and supervision to avoid a 'girl fight' She would do best as an only dog to keep the peace and let her enjoy a family. Medusa was pulled from a shelter last year, placed briefly in a home with another bulldog who did not want to share space with her. The setback caused jealousy behaviors which we are working on. Medusa sleeps in a crate when her foster family is not home, at night, she shares a pillow and snuggles in the human bed. Spayed, microchipped, vaccinated and heartworm treated/on prevention - she is ready for adoption just in time for the holidays FOSTERED IN TEXAS. *Adoption Fee includes fee by van transport to PNW, Midwest or NY-NJ-CT-VA-VT states by pet transport partners.
