Story
Friends to the Forlorn Adopt-a-BullBreed: Great Dane/American Bulldog Gender: Male Estimated Date of Birth: April 15, 2012 Size:  85lbs Location:  Dallas, GA RESCUING STONE Stone was originally adopted from Douglas County Animal Control when he was a small pup. That family gave him to another family, who then gave him to a third family, and he ended up a Fulton County Animal Control. He was next in line to get put to sleep at the shelter and we were able to pull him on the day he was scheduled to be euthanized. ABOUT STONE Stone is a giant. Our best guess is that he’s a Great Dane/American Bulldog mix. He is a big, playful goof and he loves toys … although he has not quite learned to bring them back to you. Stone does not understand his size or strength. It is very clear that a lack of basic obedience and being dumped several times in his formative years has affected him immensely. Stone is not very trusting of new people. He takes time to warm up and can be rather intimidating due to his size and behavior. He is reactive when in public to people and other dogs. Once he trusts you, you are part of his inner circle and he will show you his true personality. His true personality shines … he is fun loving, sweet, and silly. Because his previous owners simply dumped him off onto the next family, he lacked all leadership and guidance in his formative years so he does not know what behavior is acceptable and what is not. Stone does jump up on people and could benefit from some serious obedience training. He is reactive on leash in public and will require a strong owner. Stone also has trust issues and insecurities with strangers due to his previous life experiences. He will require a 6 foot privacy fence and a strong, experienced owner that is willing to take the time to get to know him and work with him on obedience. Due to his size and behavioral concerns, we do not recommend Stone for a home with children. Story
Clark is a 1 year old male Bulldog/Lab mix, who came to the shelter with his sister Diana. Both currently live in the same pen together, and while they clearly like each other, they can be adopted separately or together. Clark seems to be the more outgoing of the two, and is the first to greet anyone coming to spend time with them. He is very friendly and loving, and likes staying close to you, just so that you don’t forget about him. Clark and Diana are very entertaining when they start playing together, and they will often gently wrestle with each other before stopping to rest together in the shade. Clark also enjoys going on walks and taking short dips in the kiddie pool. He is a fun-loving and very sweet boy, who is ready to find his person(s) and love them with all his heart! The adoption fee covers the following: spay or neuter surgery; one-year rabies vaccine; feline or canine distemper vaccine; heartworm test (dogs) or combo (fiv/felv) test (cats); deworming; and microchip.Carroll County Animal Shelter is located at 251 Automation Drive in Carrollton GA. Story
Navy is an almost one year old Bulldog mix, who is sure to charm you! This little girl loves spending time in the park, where she scampers from spot to spot, finding anything and everything interesting. Her cute short legs work overtime as she frolics through the grass, and her tail wags the entire time! Navy enjoys chasing toys, and she will occasionally do an adorable play bow just to get you in on the fun too. She seems ok with other dogs, although a Meet n’ Greet is always recommended if other dogs are in the household. Navy also didn’t react to a feral cat, other than being curious about it. She has been patiently waiting for a loving furever home, and she certainly deserves it. So if you are looking for a playful and lovable addition to your family, be sure to meet Navy soon! The adoption fee covers the following: spay or neuter surgery; one-year rabies vaccine; feline or canine distemper vaccine; heartworm test (dogs) or combo (fiv/felv) test (cats); deworming; and microchip. Story
PEAR HAS LEFT THE SHELTER AND IS LIVING WITH A FAMILY TEMPORARILY IN A 'FOSTER TO ADOPT' ARRANGEMENT! Pear is a medium-sized two year old, female Bulldog mix. She is a very sweet gentle girl, who is fairly laid back and well-mannered. Sadly, she is often overlooked in her cage because she is so well-behaved. Pear has done well in play groups with 2-3 other dogs in the park, as long as the other dogs are fairly laid back like her. Almost like an older dog, Pear does not like play groups with hyper over-excited dogs (many of us can probably relate to that!). Pear is also very good on a leash, and she makes for a very enjoyable walking companion. She is treat-motivated, and has quickly learned Sit because of that. All that is missing is for Pear to find her person(s), where she would be a cherished family member in her furever home. The adoption fee covers the following: spay or neuter surgery; one-year rabies vaccine; feline or canine distemper vaccine; heartworm test (dogs) or combo (fiv/felv) test (cats); deworming; and microchip. Carroll County Animal Shelter is located at 251 Automation Drive in Carrollton GA. Phone: 770-214-3590. Story
Leo is a 2 year old Bulldog mix, and he attracts everyone’s attention with his big happy-go-lucky grin! He is a lovable goofball whose charms are hard to resist once you see him. Leo is good on a leash after his initial energy getting out of the cage, and he will follow your lead. When he is let loose in the fenced-in park, Leo is fairly laid back and likes to roam around rather than run a lot. Leo loves being with adult humans; however, he is usually not comfortable being with young children, because he likes his personal space. So he would do best in an adult-only home. While sleeping in his cage, Leo has the cutest way of sleeping on his side with one leg up, almost as if he is dreaming of belly rubs. That fits with his overall dream of finding his furever home, which includes a soft bed and lots of love! The adoption fee covers the following: spay or neuter surgery; one-year rabies vaccine; feline or canine distemper vaccine; heartworm test (dogs) or combo (fiv/felv) test (cats); deworming; and microchip.
