Valerian is an adult (born approx 4.1.17) neutered male Akita. He is up to date on vaccines, microchipped, heartworm negative, on flea/heartworm prevention, house trained, crate trained, and leash trained. Valerian was surrenderd to the shelter in Chesapeake, VA when the owner could no longer care for him. He had previously lived outside in a pen and was uncertain and stand off-ish when he first came to us, but he warmed up to a goofy, woo-ing, wiggle butt boy. He is just so sweet! Valerian would be fine in a home with children 12+ due to his high energy level and as an only pet.

Husky German Shepherd Dog

Female, Young
Virginia Beach, VA
Size
(when grown) Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
Details
Needs experienced adopter, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Our family adopted Luna as a puppy from a DMV area rescue. Her mother was rescued and had the puppies in foster. We took her home at about 2 months old. She is 16 months old as of January 2025. She is crate trained and house trained. She is very sweet and loves to snuggle up with her family. She can be sassy and talk back with her husky voice when she feels like it. She has a TON of energy and loves going on walks, runs, hikes, pretty much any outdoor activity. She LOVES to pull if she's strapped into a harness. She walks well with me when on a slip lead as I can correct her easily if she pulls but she will need more training in this area. She also doesn't know her own strength, which is why she should go to a family without young children as she can play rough. She gets along with some dogs and doesn't with others. She also has some toy guarding issues with her favorite toys. She is spayed as well as up to date with all shots.
