Story
KIRIN - 5-8 years old, 90 pounds, friendly, good on leash KIRIN arrived at VBACAC as a stray. Incredibly, someone is missing a 90 pound easy going girl and never came to reclaim her. Kirin is big. She is beautiful. She has thick black, brown and white fur. You can see her undercoat, so tempting to want to brush her and clear it out.  She is a nice girl. Quiet. Curious. She trotted around the yard sniffing, trying to figure out where she is and what's going on. She would approach me here and there, took treats sometimes but not always. She wasn't interested in sitting for the treats either which I didn't mind bc we were still very new to each other. And that's about all we know about her.  Akitas are big and beautiful dogs. They have distinct personality characteristics. Please do your research before considering adoption bc we want to make sure this girl matches with your home and lifestyle. We also do not yet know how she feels about other dogs so bring yours in for a meet and greet and be ready for supervision. Kirin is currently in our large dog adoption kennel so come on in to meet her.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 9, 2025, 10:39 am

Story
Rockwell is a stunning 75-pound Akita mix who combines strength, agility, and a fun-loving personality. As an athletic dog, Rockwell thrives on activity and loves running, jumping, and playing outdoors. Whether it's a game of fetch, a challenging hike, or a brisk jog, he’s always ready to join in on the action. Despite his active nature, Rockwell also knows how to relax and enjoys quiet moments with his favorite people. With his striking looks and lively spirit, he turns heads everywhere he goes. Loyal and intelligent, Rockwell embodies the best traits of an Akita mix and is always up for an adventure. If you're looking for an energetic, affectionate companion, Rockwell might just be the perfect match! We have a trainer that is willing to work with Rockwell and his adopter! Please contact the shelter to discuss why we think Rockwell will need to attend training.

Story
Hazel and Bear are young siblings (born 8.28.23). They are spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, on flea and heartworm prevention, heartworm negative, house trained, crate trained, and sort of leash trained. Hazel is a standard coated female, and bear is a lomg coated male. These cuties came to us from an owner who could no longer care for them. They were predominantly outdoor dogs, so they will need some training to learn to be polite indoor company. They are both incredibly sweet, but they do like to jump up on people, which may be too much or harmful for small children. They are a bonded pair that will need to be adopted together, and will need to be the only pets in the house.

Story
Sweet Anna is around 6 years old but still has the spunk and drive of a puppy. She loves everyone she meets and wants all the love and pets she can get. She is around 6 years old and has lived with kids before and is said to do great with them. We would want all the littles to come to the meet and greet to make sure everyone is comfortable together. She will do best in a home with no cats. She would also do best with a male dog and a dog test will be required to see if the personalities match. She loves to be outside for her walkies and letting her zoomies out in the play yard. She walks well on leash and is super smart! She should never be left unattended while outside as she is known to be an escape artist even while in a fenced in yard. We will prioritize adopters that have experience with this breed or similar breeds as they have different needs than your "average" pup. She is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines.
