Please contact Paul Slebzak (pauls@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.gorgeous husky mix ISO love and central air! GLORIA NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name: Gloria     Best Guess for Breed:  Akita and shepherd mix Best Guess for Age:   6 years as of November 2024     Gender: Female Approximate Weight:   49 lbs Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen her with kids or cats but she can be tested Currently Living At: Lucky Dog's South Carolina rescue campus; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to come up after completing heartworm treatment Special Adoption Considerations: Gloria is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs.  All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care.  After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months.  We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left! Gloria Is Looking For: Her forever home! She landed in the shelter through no fault of her own, and can't wait to once again have her own humans. She's eager for long sniffy walks and all the adventures her new family can dream up. Note her thick, dense coat. She has a preference for adventures in cool places - the mountains over the beach, Vermont or Montana, and oh yeah - Starbucks for pup cups. And quality kibble and and a cushy dog bed are on her wish list too. But you know what she wants most of all? To know where she belongs, to know who her people are, and to be safe and loved. In exchange, she offers her stockpile of adoring gazes and loyal companionship for all her days.  What My Foster Says About Me: We will update this once she has arrived in the DC area and spent some time with her foster Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. Story
NEED FOSTER HOME FOR ONE OF THE MIXED PUPPIES FROM KIKKI'S STAR WARS LITTER!! Meet Hera, a loving, energetic companion looking for a foster or forever home. Hera is a charming dog with a heart full of loyalty and affection. She can be shy upon initially meeting someone, but adapts quickly. Once comfortable, her playful spirit and boundless energy shine through. Hera enjoys walks and is currently building confidence on leash. She has been fostered in a multi-animal home and gets along with other dogs very well. She sometimes needs a reminder to give the cats some space. She is potty trained as well as crate trained although she can be anxious when left alone at times. A calm, male companion would be ideal for her. Her foster home is currently working on basic training, including some tricks. She is very smart but can be stubborn. You will need some creativity to keep her engaged while training. Several short sessions as opposed to a long one. If you are looking for a devoted friend who will bring joy and enthusiasm into your life, Hera might be a match. Her lovable personality would ensure her becoming a cherished part of your family!! She is very smart and needs an owner who will engage her brain: obedience, fast cat, agility.  Prefer owners with some previous experience with dogs.  She will be spayed prior to placement.  See more pix and video at https://www.facebook.com/akitarescue.org/Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 4, 2024, 12:00 am

Story
Hi, I am LaBelle I am a 3 year-old Husky who was rescued from a high kill facility right after I gave birth to my babies. A sweet lady saw me and knew I needed help, so she offered to foster me and my babies until we could find our forever homes. I am so thankful for her and the rescue who saved us. I absolutely love spending time with people and other dogs. I would love a big yard to play in and if there were kids for me to play with, that would even be better. I love children. I love to be outside and enjoying nice cool weather. I do very well inside and use my manners. Unless I really want your attention, then I like to talk to you..... I am a true husky. We are chatty! I would do best with an active family. Please consider giving me a chance to show you how much I can love you. I am a really good girl with a lot of personality. I am fully vetted and ready for adoption. I can be transferred to you via ground transportation as well.

To learn more about our upcoming events and to see which event they will be attending, please visit our event page at https://www.lostdogrescue.org/events/ (*please note that the specific event pages are typically updated on Fridays with information on which dogs will be attending which events*) Meet Balto, Lost Dog's newest sled dog-in-training! Like the famous canine hero, this adorable pup has captured our hearts and is ready to lead the way into adventure. While he may not be delivering lifesaving serum to Alaska, Balto is still making a big impact at our shelter with his charming, energetic personality and playful spirit. This curious, independent, and all-around pup-tastic pooch loves exploring nature and meeting new creatures. Balto would do best in a home that can give him the attention and patience to help him be the best dog ever. Happily, he is a quick learner. He has already demonstrated many commands such as shake, sit, and down. Your efforts will be very rewarding-imagine a lifetime of cuddles, outdoor adventures, and time spent together! If you're looking for a loyal, affectionate new lifelong friend, Balto could be what you've been missing! Remember, "Balto" isn't just a name - it's a legacy of courage, determination, and love, a legacy that this pup would love to continue as part of your family.
