Story
Rider is a beautiful big boy who was surrendered to the shelter when his owner left him with their roommate and never came back! Unfortunately the roommate wasn't interested in keeping him and he's now waiting for someone to scoop him up from the overcrowded shelter! Rider has been an aloof boy since getting to the shelter but warms up with time outside. The person who surrendered him said he is fully housetrained and that he's good with other dogs. Rider is now available for adoption or rescue partner at ACCT Philly. You can meet him any day from 10am-6pm! Video: Rider and Pancake: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/LlFM_M6pC5k?feature=share Rider and Serenity fence meet: https://youtube.com/shorts/mPwFRfqFXV4?feature=share Rider and Serenity meet: https://youtube.com/shorts/VzabElJ5bxs?feature=share Behavior: Per Volunteer 11/3/24: Rider was at the other end of his kennel when I approached- I whistled and he came right to me. Sniffed out the leash before allowing me to leash him and was hesitant of the leashing process. Going through the shelter he was VERY cautious. Walking out was very slow and sniffed everything he could, then cowered to the floor when he heard loud noises. Spent the whole time outside sniffing, pretty aloof with me. We did a meet with adoptable Pancake and Rider was VERY forward. He approached her very quickly and put his paws up on her as if he was trying to mount her. She ended up growling at him as he was being very rude so we ended the meet. He was more comfortable walking through kennels but I had to use some pressure to get him back inside his kennel. Per Staff 11/1/24: BEHAVIOR EVALUATION: Rider KNOWN HISTORY: Owner surrender KENNEL PRESENTATION: Rider was in his kennel with neutral eyes near the door. He had some high tail wags and was whining when the handler interacted with him. He sniffed through the crack of the door to sniff the leash and once secured came right out. LEASH SKILLS: Pulled moderately HANDLING: In the yard, Rider was sniffing around the yard chattering at all the smells. He never greeted the handlers but tolerated the handlers interacting with him. He was very aloof to all handling and tried to avoid interaction with the handlers. He is sensitive about his back end, ears, tail, and darted forward away the handler. Rider met a dog through the gate and was very excited with a high wagging tail. Further during his eval, Rider continued to ignore the handlers as we attempted to keep his attention on us and wanted to continue to sniff and smell around the yard where other female dogs have been. PLAY No interest TOYS: No interest Per Staff 10/31/24: was sniffing all around intake , was not showing interests with treats or us . allowed to be touched but would be a little tense . handler was able to muzzle rider and once muzzled and restraint , he allowed to be exam and get his shots ; advise to take it slow but appears to be a good boy with some time. ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in Philadelphia. We are open for adoptions 7 days a week. Please visit www.acctphilly.org/adopt for details. If you are a rescue interested in pulling this animal, please email our lifesaving team, or visit here if you are not currently a rescue partner: https://acctphilly.org/acct-philly-love-local-partnership-program/ Confirmed placement is considered a confirmation of an actual rescue pull. Story
Hello, I`m Bruno, a senior Akita with a heart full of love. I`m a friendly chap, always ready to share a goofy joke or a funny antic. My loyalty knows no bounds, and I promise to be your most faithful companion. I`m a bit of an old soul, but that just means I`ve got plenty of wisdom to share. I love lazy afternoons, belly rubs, and the joy of companionship. I might be a senior, but my spirit is young. I`m full of life, love, and laughter. Adopting me means gaining a friend who will stick by your side through thick and thin, always ready to brighten your day with a wagging tail and a warm nuzzle. So, how about it? Will you give this old dog a new leash on life?

Story
KENNEL ID #01658&#226&#128&#139 Introducing ‘Ghost’ a 3 year old American Akita. Ghost is a super sweet fellow and needs a calm, confident and active owner who is attentive to his needs and instincts. His confidence, once shattered, is building back up with patient handling. He walks great on a leash and loves being close to you. He enjoys car rides, to go for a hike and enjoys walks where he can take in all the sights and smells along the way. Akitas don’t accept the settings of doggie daycares, canine play dates, or dog parks. Ghost fits most of the typical description of the Akita breed. He strongly prefers to be the only dog in the household, will chase small animals, and livestock; as he has protection tendencies over what he perceives to be his owners and property. Akitas are fast and inquisitive, and even with advanced training this is not a breed that can be off leash. Ghost is extremely affectionate and loyal and is seeking an owner to give all his loyalty and trust.  SafeHART) (jotform.com) Thank you for your interest in rescue.  If you would like to be considered for  adoption please submit an application to adopt.  If you have any questions regarding the adoption process please  email:    dianespets1486@gmail.com  or call 610-970-7500 APPLICATIONS TO ADOPT : DOG   SMALL ANIMALS   BIRD REPTILE   FERRET November 6, 2024, 1:39 am

Story
Meet Gage, the resilient pup with a heart as big as his will to wag his tail! Gage hails from Memphis, TN, where he sadly endured a close-range gunshot wound to his back. Despite his past, Gage remains loving towards people, offering tail wags as a sign of his affection. Now in NJ after being discharged from the hospital, Gage is a friendly, energetic fellow in need of a secure, fenced-in yard where he can frolic and play. Gage's past as a stray remains a mystery, but his love for food has made training a breeze for this cheerful guy. Will you be the one to finally give Gage the loving home he deserves? Please go to our website at www.bigeastakitarescue.org and complete an online adoption application. Applicants should have breed knowledge.

Story
Help Bella and Bear, a devoted duo of Akitas, find their forever home! Originally found abandoned on a logging road in Montana, this bonded pair embarked on a journey from Oregon to our rescue in New Jersey, demonstrating remarkable resilience. Now settled, they are thriving on treats, leisurely walks, and human companionship. With their affectionate nature, they're suitable for families with older children and would flourish in a home with a secure backyard where they can play freely. As the sole pets in the household, they seek a breed-savvy family to provide the love and care they deserve. Interested in Bella and Bear? Please go to our website at www.bigeastakitarescue.org and put in your application for Bella.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Charlie is a sweet 7 year old male chihuahua/pit mix who weighs 27 pounds. He came in as a stray but we were able to get in touch with a previous owner who had was no longer able to keep him. They told us "Charlie had been fine around their older kid (tween) but they did not think he would do well with a baby. As they were planning to have more kids, they decided to rehome him." He is doing his best to stay housetrained at the shelter and would love to be in a home soon. On 3/11, a volunteer noted: He was sweet and easy to handle from beginning to end. He loved to be pet, walked nicely on the leash and pottied when taken outside. He was easy to return to her kennel and seems like a lovely pup!

Videos: Elsa in the play yard: https://youtube.com/shorts/8zNZvygNPlQ?feature=share Elsa knows sit: https://youtube.com/shorts/gLfPtRUZoiQ?feature=share Behavioral: Per volunteer 11/9: Elsa was very easy to leash and walk, she seemed to enjoy being outside in the sun and watching the cars pass by. She was nonreactive to other dogs, and overall seems like a happy sweet girl Per volunteer 11/9: Elsa was so sweet to leash and loved sniffing around outside. Once she explored the whole space, she enjoyed a game of hide and seek with her handler, showed off her sit, and then got some all over rubs. Elsa didn't really have any interest in toys or playing, but she LOVED getting to go on a walk. She had a great time leading the way and even got to break out her husky run. Elsa would love a home where she can get lots of walks (runs would be great too!), plenty of pets and rubs, and the occasional game to get out some zoomies. Don't let this Ice Princess get frozen out of a fun winter!! Per staff 11/7 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION: KNOWN HISTORY: Stray KENNEL PRESENTATION: Elsa was standing by the door with neutral/ semi soft eyes. She was patient and just stood waiting patiently. No issues exiting or returning LEASH SKILLS: Pulls minimally HANDLING: In the yard Elsa was calm and very well mannered! She was very calm and explored the yard and would come over to us every once and awhile with slow mid level wags. She allowed all handling and would lean in when petting her but would get bored of us quickly and walk off again to do her own thing. No interest in treats.
