What to say about Dexter Limburger? He is a big ole goof ball weighing roughly 80lbs. He acts like an untrained pup (he clearly came to us mostly untrained). He pulls on leash like a double engine freight train! He was not fond of collar grabs. He had no manners and does jump up, all of which we have been working on. He can sometimes cop an attitude like a spoiled brat. He is mouthy in his play and may bark and rumble at you when you first meet him, just to see if he can push your buttons. He does not like to share his food and resource guards by making you feel like you best NOT touch his food. All part of his pushing your buttons. . He will whine if he feels he is not getting enough attention; if that doesn't work he will also bark. He has gotten more respectful in the time he has been here. Learning to walk better on leash and not be such a brat. He is really a love bug! Put must of that behavior down to the husky breed. He is a husky brat! In being worked with while he has been here he has come a long way. That all being said he also jumps up to give hugs and kisses. He can sometimes walk like a prince on leash. He loves to play, slop in his wading pool, take car rides. He sits when asked, sometimes. He likes some of the girls here and loves to rump and play with them. His lastest friends have been a litter of older coonhound pups. He is house trained and will hold it a good 10 hours or more. He would gladly be a big lap dog and likes belly rubs. What he needs and would greatly benefit from is someone who is a confident Alfa, familiar with the breeds, willing and able to give him the training he needs. You will end up with a very handsome, wonderful dog. BUT, you must be patient and give him the focused time and work! Meet Koda!!This girl is about 7 years old and is an Akita mix. Unfortunately for Koda, she did not enjoy dogs or cats, so she is going to need a home without them. She is large in size and needs older kids. She didn’t enjoy us touching her back end or paws during the assessment. If you can provide Koda a home that matches her needs, please apply for her! This sweet girl was found with her head stuck in a fence and she had multiple wounds. An amazing volunteer took her in and started treatments for her wounds. We estimate Darla was born in late October. We have no idea what happened to her but we know her future is bright. She is sweet, funny and playful. We are only guessing at the breed mix because of her ears. That may change as time goes on. She will be finished with her vetting and ready to go to her forever home in early to mid January. Let’s help her have the best life. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Rex is looking for his forever home. He was surrendered at just a mere 8 months old to One Dog at a Time ODAAT because of his severe separation anxiety. He was born in February 2018 and is a Husky, Terrier mix. A lot of people might have given up on Rex. He is deaf, suffered from severe separation anxiety, and had no training whatsoever. But the people at ODAAT believed he'd be a perfect candidate for their training partnership with a local prison, Rockview. Rex learned great basic commands while staying at the prison and a couple of really special ones. He is no longer in the program and is ready for his forever home. Because Rex is deaf, we truly feel he would require another pup to be able to live life to the fullest. Older children only. Rex is protective of his people. He is committed through and through with the person he bonds with. He will require a special family to be able to bring him to his full potential. Rex will not be able to be a social butterfly. If you're looking for a dog that will be a great companion, this is your boy! His best friends are Deitz, Vader and Dugan, three of our ODAAT rescue pups.
