Story
This is from the AKC Website "Akitas are burly, heavy-boned spitz-type dogs of imposing stature. Standing 24 to 28 inches at the shoulder, Akitas have a dense coat that comes in several colors, including white. The head is broad and massive, and is balanced in the rear by a full, curled-over tail. The erect ears and dark, shining eyes contribute to an expression of alertness, a hallmark of the breed. Akitas are quiet, fastidious dogs. Wary of strangers and often intolerant of other animals, Akitas will gladly share their silly, affectionate side with family and friends. They thrive on human companionship. The large, independent-thinking Akita is hardwired for protecting those they love. They must be well socialized from birth with people and other dogs." It's pretty dang accurate for Ali as well, once she loves you she LOVES you but you have to EARN it. So if you have Akita experience give us a call! We love this girl and want to see her THRIVE. Spayed female 175$ 4 years ish Dog selective!!

Dog meet and greets are by appointment only, please answer the questions below the bio, either through Petfinder, Adopt-A-Pet, Rescueme.org or by directly e-mailing us at shelter@hbpets.org. Answering the questions below, will help move the adoption process along faster. ***Please check your Junk/Spam folder for reply e-mails from us, if its been more than 72 hours*** Hi, I am Goose, I am an Akita Mix, between 6-7yrs old, Neutered male. I was adopted from Homeward Bound in 2021 into the most amazing and large family, there was 8 humans to give me love, attention and play with me. I got to go on car rides and go on adventures, it was so nice after my previous family dumped me. Life happens and my home started changing over the last year and now 6 of my humans were no longer there, my mom and dad tried so hard to make it work, but I started escaping and barking at neighbors dogs, I gained weight and so my mom and dad made the heartbreaking decisions to rehome me, they spent a long time trying to find the right home, but people kept backing out, so they reached out to the shelter and the team accepted me with open arms. Goose is a very loving big boy, his family did great with him, he would really love a home with no other dogs, he loves children and does very well with them. He is goofy, knows lots of commands and really is just a big cuddle bug. My adoption fee is $150 1. Do you have a privately fenced yard? 2. What animals live in your home? 3. Can you supply a squishy bed? 4. Can you supply bouncy toys? 5. What would my typical day look like? 6. Have you had a dog as big as me? I am 103lbs! 7. The team is working on weight-loss, can you continue to help with this?

These pups are in Corvallis, Oregon too!

Story
Hi, I'm Nina, a 12-year-old Alaskan Shepherd/Husky mix. I might be a bit older, but I've got plenty of love and energy to share! During the day, I enjoy lounging around and taking naps, but I'll definitely let you know when I need to go out or want some attention. Despite being a husky, I'm not aloof at all. I love being brushed and sitting outside with my person - it's one of my favorite pastimes. I'm crate trained and sleep comfortably in my crate at night, though I also enjoy sleeping outside of it too. I'm great with kids and other people once I get to know you. I'm housetrained and know basic commands, especially when treats are involved. I'm a smart cookie and will check the yard for any escape routes, so it's important that fences and gates are secure. I enjoy going for a mile walk twice a day, and I could even go longer, but my human gets tired. On walks, my husky side really comes out - I like to be in front a little and can get easily distracted by other dogs or cats. I don't like being outside alone for long periods, and I really don't get along with cats. If given the chance, I might chase chickens too. I will be your calm, wise companion and will bring so much joy and love to your life.

Story
Summit is a striking, large husky with a thick coat, bright blue eyes, and an affectionate nature. He’s incredibly intelligent, eager to learn, and loves to be the center of attention. While he’s loyal, attentive, and great with training, Summit does have a dramatic side—he’ll make sure you know when he’s not happy or when he’s feeling extra energetic! Summit is best suited for an owner with an active lifestyle who can keep up with his high energy and love for adventure. If you’re looking for a smart, playful, and occasionally theatrical companion, Summit might be the perfect fit for your home!My adoption fee is $225 and Benton County adopters may have extra licensing fees.

Story
Hello there! My name is Conifer, Nice to meet you! I am a very active young pup who is looking for a new bed to crash on! My friends here say that I am a very smart, agile dog who thrives off attention and snacks! I have met a few other furry friends during my time here and while I love them, my energy and intensity can be a little off putting for older, slower dogs. I should meet any potential siblings before I go home with you. If I sound like a good fit for your home, come meet me, Conifer, today!
