Story
Simba has spent too long waiting for his forever family. 💔 This strong and spirited Akita-Husky mix is full of energy, loves his toys, and is happiest on long walks or playing with his human. He’s sweet, loyal, and ready for the right home. If you’re looking for a dog with personality and heart, Simba is waiting to meet you! 🐕 Adopt Simba: https://form.jotform.com/221926016430144 Full profile: Simba is a 6-8-year-old Akita-Husky mix with the personality of an Akita and the heart of a lion. He’s playful, sweet, and full of energy but needs a confident and strong adopter who understands his needs. 💪 Strength & Training: Simba is powerful and can pull when excited, so he needs someone physically capable of managing his strength. He’s learning commands like sit, down, paw, and “potty” and thrives with structure. A harness might help with his pulling. 🐾 Energy & Personality: Simba is not always a couch potato! He loves long walks (2+ miles is no problem), playing with his toys, and getting plenty of attention. He’s affectionate and cuddly but always ready for adventure. 🏡 Home Needs: Simba would do best in a home without small children due to his strength and energy. He’s good with other dogs, especially more timid ones, but does best with boundaries around toys and space. He’s also quite the counter-surfer, so keeping things out of reach is key! 🐕 Health: Simba has a thyroid condition that is managed with treatment, giving him renewed energy and playfulness. Simba has had a lot of love and care from his foster, but he’s ready to find his forever home. If you’re looking for a strong, loyal, and playful companion, Simba could be your perfect match. 💙 Ready to meet Simba? Apply to adopt him and give this big-hearted boy the home he deserves. 📌 Share to help Simba find his forever home Currently being cared in Southern California, but can be transported up to northern states, such as Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, and anywhere within the US continental, if a great suitable family is willing to adopt him.

Story
Akita Mix 1 year old Male 66 pounds Kids · 8+ Dogs · Yes Cats · No What My Friends Say About Me: I’m a sweet and affectionate boy who absolutely loves people! I’ve got a lot of energy to burn! Whether it’s a game of fetch, chasing after a ball, or just running around the yard, I’m always up for some fun! I get along well with other dogs and love making new furry friends. The Type of Home I’m Looking For: I haven’t had any experience with cats, so I’m not sure how I’d react. For now, I think it’s best if I stick to my dog pals. I’m an energetic guy, so I’d do best with children over the age of 8 who can keep up with my playful nature. I could use some positive reinforcement training to help me become the best dog I can be. My adoption fee is $300 and includes neuter, microchip & registration, leash/collar, food sample, toy & treat packet.

Thank you for your interest in one of our amazing dogs, please how our meet and greets work. We are by appointment only, all our meet and greets are outside on the same property as the shelter, under our covered, fenced area, so we must schedule appointments. If a dog is on our website, it is available for adoption. We do not schedule multiple meetings with different people for the dog on the same day. We do meet and greets Tuesday-Saturday, no night meets. We have questions at the bottom of each dog's bio, by answering the questions in your inquiry, you help move things along, it is okay if you do not, we will send an e-mail back to you with those questions. It does not matter if you are a homeowner or renter, but please check with your rental company for breed and weight restrictions. If this will be an ESA dog, get approval from your rental company first. Our dogs are listed on Petfinder (purchased by Purina), Adopt-a-pet and rescueme.org or you can e-mail us directly at shelter@hbpets.org with questions about the dog, please be sure to say who you are asking about. Lastly, we do review all applicants, so if you are looking to get a dog today or in the next 24 hours, we may not be the right place, by taking a little more time and reviewing we have decreased our yearly dog returns to 1%. We get back to everyone as quickly as possible, sending multiple inquires or calling multiple times, will not change the process, if you don't get a reply e-mail within 72hrs, check your spam and junk folder, if there is nothing please e-mail us directly at shelter@hbpets.org. Hi, I am Goose, I am an Akita Mix, between 6-7yrs old, Neutered male. I was adopted from Homeward Bound in 2021 into the most amazing and large family, there was 8 humans to give me love, attention and play with me. I got to go on car rides and go on adventures, it was so nice after my previous family dumped me. Life happens and my home started changing over the last year and now 6 of my humans were no longer there, my mom and dad tried so hard to make it work, but I started escaping and barking at neighbors dogs, I gained weight and so my mom and dad made the heartbreaking decisions to rehome me, they spent a long time trying to find the right home, but people kept backing out, so they reached out to the shelter and the team accepted me with open arms. Goose is a very loving big boy, his family did great with him, he would really love a home with no other dogs, he loves children and does very well with them. He is goofy, knows lots of commands and really is just a big cuddle bug. My adoption fee is $150 1. Do you have a privately fenced yard? 2. What animals live in your home? 3. Can you supply a squishy bed? 4. Can you supply bouncy toys? 5. What would my typical day look like? 6. Have you had a dog as big as me? I am 103lbs! 7. The team is working on weight-loss, can you continue to help with this?

Story
Dakota is a handsome name, kind of a "rugged" kind of name, right?? I am kind of a REFINED RUGGED kind of boy! For instance, I am a busy boy, I love playing and running with my doggy friends, however, I can lay at your feet very sweetly to beg for your attention. I am kind of like a "reverse" planter as well. I mean, you plant it and i will un-plant it for you :D I won't do it often, just when I want your attention and I am outside alone. So see?? you have great control over that urge! So I am a food and toy lover too, I eat out of a slow feeder bowl because wolfing down my food is not an option! I am learning all things toys and am actually learning how to bring the ball BACK after you throw it. I am a smart and very sweet boy. I do absolutely have a prey drive so no kitties for small furry mammals around me please. I am fully potty trained and great in a crate. Now i just need you to adopt me to complete my circle of life. Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $450 (includes transport to your area)
