Story
Katie is almost 7 years old, having spent her first 6 years in a puppy mill. She will require a human with patience and gentleness as sudden noises put her on alert. A home far away from fireworks would be best. She is fostered in a home with both dogs and cats & gets along with all.Earning her trust is not an immediate event, but once you do, she will want to be by your side nearly all the time. Her favorite place to eat is next to her human. As well as sleeping in the same bed."Outside" is becoming more familiar and knows doing her business outside makes her human happy. She also uses the pads inside and her groomer describes her as "a very good girl".Even though she hasn't really figured out "toys" yet, she is very treat motivated. She is being fostered in Hammond IndianaApply to adopt at nbstr.org

I am currently in a place where there are lots of unwanted dogs and not all of us here get the chance I might have to leave! But in order to help me out of here to catch the ride to WI on November 1st and arrive on November 2nd, I need *both* a sponsor, and a WI foster home *or* a WI adopter! I have a place for now, but I can't stay here forever. The rescue has put a hold on me to save my spot on the trip up north to WI, but now they need YOUR help to get me there - don't wait!!!   Updated: 9/29/24 Dog Name: Duke Sex: Male Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Approximate Age: 9-10 years old Approximate Weight: 10-13 lbs Adoption Fee: $650 Description: Poor Duke found himself unwanted along with his lady Duchess- they were being kept as a breeding only dog. This is a cruel way to treat any animal. Duke is ready to find his FOREVER family who will love him and treat him like a family member. He is so sweet and even though he has been discarded, he holds his royal head high and knows that he deserves better! He's even registered with the AKC and we were able to get his paperwork.  We are a Wisconsin state licensed dog rescue -WI# 402433   ***We do not have a central adoption center at this time. All our dogs are in private foster homes within WI. At this time we only place our dogs in areas of WI. The breed of our dogs is our best guess with the help of our veterinarians. Our Weight Classes are as follows: 0- 25lbs - Small 26- 45lbs - Medium 46-89 - Large 90+ X-large If you are adopting an adult dog, which we consider 6 months of age or older, your adoption fee includes the following: Spay/Neuter, Rabies and Distemper shots, dewormed, flea & tick preventative, heartworm tested and microchipped. We only spay/neuter our dogs by 6 months of age. If you decide to adopt a younger dog than 6 months of age, they will need to be spayed/neutered by your veterinarian when they are 6 months to 1 year or age. Proof that the spay/neuter has been completed will need to be submitted to Tailwaggers911. Once proof of the spay/neuter has been received, we will refund $100 of your adoption fee via Venmo, PayPal or have a check in the mail within 15 days.  at one of our preferred clinics. Once you are approved with our rescue, you can meet any one of our dogs within the fosters home. If you are interested in the dog you met, you can take the dog home under our mandatory foster to adopt program. You receive 5 days to see if the dog is the right fit for your home. If it is, we will conduct the home visit and finalize adoption. If it is not, it is returned to the foster. We are happy to find you another dog that meets your needs in your home. If a dog is listed as ADOPTION IN PROCESS, a family has met the dog and planning on adopting the dog after the home visit has been conducted. We always suggest sending in an application for a dog because there are times where the dogs are given back to us under the foster to adopt program. There are many reasons dogs are returned but normally it just was not the right fit for all. Please go to WWW.TAILWAGGERS911.COM under HOW TO ADOPT . Story
Meet Poppy Breed: Yorkie Mix Gender: Female Weight: 4.5 pounds Age: 16 weeks old About me: I’m Poppy! I’m a spunky, smart, cute as a button puppy looking for my forever home! I love to play with toys and especially love to chew and run around and then snuggle afterwards. I love my human mommy and my fur brothers. I follow them around everywhere. I’ve never met cats, but had a doggie play date and did very well! I have been Co-sleeping in bed with my mommy and have been accident free every night! I’m working on crate and potty training; I would benefit from continued training on manners. I’m so petite, I would do well with older kids (preferably over 10) and adults who can make sure I stay safe. I also require a fenced in yard and monitoring outdoors, as I could easily fit in a small fence gap and make a run for it or be grabbed by a hawk! I’m smart and curious and like to learn new things. I even figured out how to go in and out a doggie door (even if I’m not sure why we go outside so often!) I’m located in Stoughton, WI with Maria, please message me with questions. Mariaweesner@gmail.com. Adoption fee of $600 required includes age appropriate vaccines and spay when time comes. Being fostered through Tiny Paws, if interested, apply here: https://www.tinypawssmalldogrescue.org/ Scroll to bottom to find application.

Story
Let's be honest! Haven't you ever wanted to Sage your house to clear it of negative energy & bring love & happiness into your home? Of course you have & I have your perfect solution! Meet Sage, a 7 yr old, 7.5 lb Female Yorkie! Although living through torment the last 7 yrs of her life as a mill breeder, Sage is ready to clear her soul from the only bad vibes she has ever known to becoming your loving and gentle companion. Although timid and shy, Sage is learning human touch and trust! To hold her and feel the fear shiver out of her body and turn to a sense of peace and calm is a feeling only a true dog owner can appreciate and melt for. Sage is so new to the free world, she is in her early stages of basic dog training. She is good about being in her crate, but also loves freedom. She is well behaved, has shown no aggression, loves other dogs, and is super duper curious about humans and is realizing we are not here to hurt her, but to love her, and you can see her eye's get brighter each day. Would recommend Sage be in a home with an adult(s). Sage will be fully vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed. An adoption fee of $500 is required. She is currently being fostered in Lindenhurst IL. Please contact jilljclark20@gmail.com, cell 847-772-2098 or pls fill out an application at https://www.cognitoforms.com/TinyPawsSmallDogRescue1/AdoptionApplication

Story
About Me: Name: Estella Brandy Breed (or best guess): Yorkie Approximate Age: 8 yr Gender: Female Approximate Weight: 8 lb Adoption Fee: $495 Requirements: Fenced Yard, Another Small Dog Why In Rescue: Puppy Mill Survivor Profile:   Estella came from a commercial breeder/puppy farmer who was no longer going to use her for breeding.  Estella is super cute, but isn't sure about being handled yet.  She will either follow the other dogs outside or can be picked up to be taken outside to the kennels.  She hasn't walked on a leash yet, so needs a fenced yard or secure potty area to work on housetraining.  She does need another dog in the home to make her feel comfortable and help her get use to life in a home. Dogs from commercial breeders are generally undersocialized (often very scared/shy/skittish) and probably never lived in a house.  They will need to learn things like how to walk on a leash, go up stairs, and what things like a television are.  They need a patient adopter who will give them the time they need to adjust and to learn to trust people.  Every baby step forward needs to be celebrated, and the dog needs to be accepted for who they are at each step.  Some dogs can adjust quickly and learn how to be a loved pet pretty easily.  Others can take a long time to even be comfortable with things like walking through the house and being in the same room as a person.  No matter how far and how fast the breeder dogs progress, they are wonderful dogs and deserve a great home after their life on the puppy farm.  A fence or at least a secure fenced in potty area is highly recommended for the dog's safety, and may be required for some dogs.  Another small dog in the house can also help many former breeders adjust faster to life in a home, and also may be required in some cases.  We do put the needs of the dog's first, so it is nothing personal if we determine a particular dog isn't suitable for your specific home and living situation. If considering adopting a former breeding dog, the following article is good to read to help you understand the special needs these dogs may have.  http://nowisconsinpuppymills.com/mill-survivors.html If interested in adoption, the first step is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  If link isn't clickable, please copy/paste or visit http://www.bichonrescues.com.  Please note, filling out inquiry forms on Petfinder or Adoptapet and/or their application forms does not constitute an application for one of our dogs.  Priority in responding to inquires and applications is always to the applications filled out on our website, time constraints limit the number of other inquires we can reply to. We do our best to evaluate the dogs while they are with us, but they sometimes act different in the shelter environment than they do in a home.  Many times we do not know the actual breed/mix or age of the dog, in that case we use our best guess as to breed and age.   We are located in Mukwonago, WI.  Adopters must come to us, we do not ship our dogs.  Please do not apply for a dog until you are ready to adopt.  Once an application is approved you will be notified by email to make an appointment to meet the dog.  All dogs are seen by appointment only. The adoption fee through Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is $495 for most adults and up to $650 for puppies which includes Wi State Sales Tax.  Included in this fee is your new companion who will be spayed/neutered, have a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (as required by state law), current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested (if old enough) and started on preventative, microchipped, and given a general wormer.  Other medical needs will also have been taken care of, such as dentals and treating ear infections.  To assist you and your new pet in adjusting to life together, you may chose to take an 8 week age appropriate obedience training course at For Pet's Sake Dog Training in Mukwonago, WI for $75 (up to $230 value).  You may opt to take Puppy Kindergarten, Adult Beginners, or Small Dogs Big Hearts.  You must register for the class within 90 days of adoption for the reduced fee.  For more information on the classes visit www.forpetssake.cc  More important information: ***We are a Wisconsin based rescue and do not ship our pets.  If you are considering adoption you must be willing to drive to meet and adopt the pet, as well as bring the pet back to us if the adoption doesn't work.  We adopt primarily in WI and IL, but will consider applicants in MN, IA, and MI.*** ***Please do not set up an appointment to meet the animals until you are ready to take your pet home.  If the meeting results in a match, you can often take the dog/cat home the same day or within a couple days if the medical care hasn't been completed.  We are not able to hold pets for adopters beyond this time.  Thanks for understanding.*** ***While we hope all of our adoptions lead to permanent homes for the animals we place, sometimes things just don't work out.  We do have a 30 day trial period.  For the first 30 days, if you or Bichon and Little Buddies decide that the adoption isn't a good match for either the humans or the pet, the adoption fee will be refunded minus $75 within 30 days of the return of the dog.  Bichon and Little Buddies also requires adopters to return the pet to us at any time that they are unable or unwilling to care for the animal anymore.*** ***We do not show dogs without an appointment.  The first step in adoption is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  Please do not call/email until AFTER you have filled out an application.*** Bichon and Little Buddies is a State Licensed Rescue # 268555-DS October 4, 2024, 7:17 pm
