Story
History: Goldy is a super beautiful girl who was recently welcomed to rescue and will warm your heart with her smile and happy personality. She has her paws crossed to find her forever home soon! A Note from the Foster: Goldy is a quiet, sweet-natured girl who’s still learning that the world can be a safe and loving place. She came to us in rough shape, and while she’s made progress, she’s still adjusting and will need a calm, patient family to help her continue to build confidence. Goldy does well with other small dogs and is also cat-friendly. She’s not a fan of fast movements and can be skittish, so a home without children is best. She’s learning to walk on a leash, though she sometimes prefers to choose her own direction. She’s not currently crate-trained and prefers to sleep on the couch. She’s working on house training and does go outside, but still has accidents indoors. Goldy thrives when she can be near her person and is happiest just quietly shadowing you around the house. She’s not high-energy and doesn’t need a lot of activity—just time, understanding, and a safe space to continue healing. If you’re someone who can offer consistency, patience, and a quiet environment, Goldy could be the perfect companion for you.

Story
History: Marge is a super beautiful girl who was recently welcomed to rescue and will warm your heart. She is working on her trust and confidence and is hoping to find a patient family of her very own soon! A Note from the Foster: Marge is about 12 lbs and very quick on her little feet. She came from a commercial breeder in the south and is one of the most skittish dogs I’ve had so far when it comes to humans. She has been making progress since coming to our house but it takes patience and we go at her pace. Over the last month, Marge has slowly let me get closer to her and give her treats but I still have to toss them on the ground because she isn’t comfortable taking them out of my hand yet. She does sit still and let me pet her every now and then but for the most part she keeps about a 6 foot distance from me in the house and in the yard. She likes to pop her head in while I eat dinner on the couch to see if I’ll share some snacks with her. I try to reward her with food any time she’s in my space. Marge is still working on her confidence with people but she thrives with another dog in the house. She LOVES her foster sister, Mini, a 12 lb female Yorkie. They go everywhere together and love to chase bunnies and hunt chipmunks in the backyard. They take naps curled up together and like to wrestle and play chase every once in a while too. Marge will need a patient family who can go at her pace and I think she would really benefit from another dog who wants her companionship. Her personality comes out little by little and she loves snacks so I’m hopeful that she will continue making progress!

History: Mila is a beautiful girl who needed a second chance at a good life. She quickly wriggled her way into our hearts with how sweet and loving she is and she would make a great addition to a lucky home of her own soon! A Note from the Foster: Meet Mila – The Snuggle Queen with a Side of Sass 💕 Mila is a sweet adult Yorkshire Terrier/Maltese mix (reportedly) with a heart full of love and a tongue that’s always peeking out—thanks to her toothless grin, she’s got a signature look that’s irresistibly adorable. Don’t let the lack of teeth fool you—this little lady is food motivated and never misses a treat! Her favorite pastime? Snuggling close to her humans. Mila is happiest curled up on the couch, soaking in the warmth of companionship. She’s not one for high-energy antics and prefers a calm, cozy environment where she can simply be near her people. She gets along well with other dogs, though she mostly keeps to herself and lets them do their thing. Mila would thrive in a quiet home—perhaps with an older couple or someone who appreciates the joy of a gentle, low-key companion. Potty training is going well, though she’s not a fan of bitter cold and may have an occasional accident when the weather turns frosty. She’s doing her best and appreciates patience and understanding. If you’re looking for a loyal lap warmer with a quirky charm and a heart of gold, Mila might just be your perfect match.

Story
Freddie. Set. Go! Meet Fred, or Freddie. He is a 2 year old mix who’s paperwork calls him a Yorkie/Shih Tzu/Terrier mix. His foster mom calls him Freddie. He weighs just over 14#, has been neutered, vet checked, is up to date on shots. He is negative for parasites and heartworm. He is on a monthly heartworm preventative that needs to continue as he is a Texas transplant. As a shelter rescue, nothing is known about his background. He is friendly and playful with all dog friends he has met. When it comes to people he is a little skittish at first, but not fearful and definitely not aggressive. There seems to be a trust factor that is getting better. He responds to his name and comes when called but sometimes will wait a moment just out of arms reach if he’s not ready to come in. He doesn’t get on furniture unless you pick him up. He will not go in his crate on his own but will not fight you putting him in. He is not treat motivated and we are working on what will motivate him for training purposes. He loves to play with toys by himself if they don’t squeak. If his people try to play with him he gets a blank look. We think he may have had limited people involvement in his early days but again he is not fearful. Snow and playing outside are his absolute favorite right now. It’s new in his world and he can’t get enough! He is housebroken, walks well on a leash and rides in a crate in the car without any protest. Because he is young he would do better with younger people and a fenced in yard. He is usually pretty laid back most of the time but once the weather warms up that could change. We have not seen him around young children or cats. His adoption fee is $375.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Cheyenne is an 8&#226&#128&#145pound Yorkie with a tender heart and a blossoming spirit. Deaf and recovering from past ear infections, she’s learning how to navigate the world with curiosity, courage, and the help of the dogs around her. After a rough start to life, she’s finally discovering what it means to feel safe—and her personality gets cuter every day as her confidence grows. When she first arrived, Cheyenne would hide, army crawl when approached, and bark anxiously in her crate. Now, she eagerly approaches the people she trusts, initiates contact and even warms up to new faces faster than expected. She still army crawls when picked up, but it’s clear she wants connection—she just needs time and patience to feel fully secure. Cheyenne absolutely adores other small dogs and learns best by watching and following their lead. A confident canine companion is essential for her continued progress. She also needs a home where someone is around most of the day; being alone, even briefly, is very stressful for her, and she will bark if she can’t see her people. Her silly side is emerging too—she dances on her hind legs at mealtime, proudly carries around toys, leaves, or bits of paper, and growls playfully to get your attention while wiggling her whole butt. She loves car rides and is a perfect passenger, and at night she sleeps curled up next to her foster mom, warm and content. Cheyenne is doing well with potty training on a schedule but still has accidents. She’s learning simple hand signals and would benefit from continued positive&#226&#128&#145reinforcement training tailored to her hearing impairment. A fenced yard is important so she can safely explore, sniff, and enjoy her surroundings. This gentle, goofy, affectionate little girl will thrive with a patient adopter, a calm home, and a friendly dog to show her the ropes. With time, love, and understanding, Cheyenne will reward her family with deep trust, sweet cuddles, and the joy of watching her continue to bloom. Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.   ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. Story
History: Little Tom is a handsome little fella who arrived to rescue recently and immediately warmed our hearts. He is officially ready to start his journey in finding his forever home and hopes to find them soon! A Note from the Foster: Little Tom is a bundle of energy who loves to run and play with his toys, tossing them on the floor and wrestling with them. He is officially ready to start his journey in finding his forever home and hopes to find them soon! He likes to play Alpha dog to my more passive female, but I do not have concerns of it being an issue with more confident dog friends, He loves being the center of attention and would do well as the only dog in the home. He would thrive in a home where his people are home a lot as he gets a bit anxious if left for long periods of time. Little Tom enjoys sitting in my lap or by my side to be snuggled and nap. At night, he prefers sleeping on the sofa or in my bed. Little Tom likes to have his voice heard and would not do well in a home with shared walls. I continue to work with him on barking and think that will improve as his confidence also improves. He is doing well with house training using puppy pads since his neuter surgery. He will need to work on going potty outside as his next step to being fully house trained. Little Tom enjoys going out on the deck to watch the animals in the back yard. He also loves to get his zoomies out by running around the house and chasing his tail. He’s cautious around new people, but warms up quickly when approached respectfully. Little Tom does well traveling in a car. He needs more practice learning to walk on a leash, and as the weather improves I am confident he will learn quickly. I have loved having him in my home as he is a very sweet little guy who loves being with his caretaker.

Story
History: Princess is a beautiful girl who needed a second chance at a good life. She quickly wriggled her way into our hearts with how sweet and loving she is and she would make a great addition to a lucky home of her own soon! A Note from the Foster: Hi, I’m Princess, although my foster family calls me Peanut. My foster mom says I am a 10 pound bundle of sweetness. I’m very shy but I’m starting to understand that this new world is full of snuggles, warm beds and lots of good food. I like to be in the same room with my people and sit near them on the couch. I’d rather not be picked up, though. I sleep quietly in my kennel and keep it clean. As long as I can go outside regularly, I don’t have accidents in the house. I love being outside! I love to chase my foster brother around the yard, even though he’s three times bigger than me. And when we’re done playing, I like to snuggle on the couch with him and my even bigger brother. I’m very quiet. I love food! But I don’t like to eat when anyone is watching me and I don’t like to take treats from anyone’s hands. My foster mom is working with me to get past that so that I can learn things like going up and down stairs and walking on a leash. She says that will really open up my world, but it’s hard for me to trust people right now. I’m working on getting braver and my mom says I’m really making a lot of progress. I’ve come a long way in just a few weeks. She tells me all the time how wonderful I am; I’m starting to believe her. My foster mom and I hope I find a forever family who understands that I’m a timid girl and will give me as much time and patience as I need to get comfortable. We both think I’m a perfect fit for just the right family!

Story
History: Annalise is a beautiful girl who arrived to rescue recently and immediately warmed our hearts. She is officially ready to start her journey in finding her forever home and hopes to find them soon! A Note from the Foster: Annalise’s story is one of quiet resilience and blossoming joy. For the first four years of her life, she knew only the confines of a crate. She missed out on the gentle touch of a loving hand, the freedom to run, and the comfort of a family. But despite that hard start, Annalise has a heart that overflows with hope. Her tail wags endlessly, and her eyes shine with the desire to trust, love, and belong. Personality This little girl radiates happiness. Annalise adores the company of other dogs and finds her greatest joy in play. Big or small, she doesn’t mind—she just wants a buddy who will wrestle and romp with her. Her very best friend right now is a 40-pound Wheaten Terrier, and together they remind us what second chances look like. Though still a bit skittish, Annalise’s determination to connect is inspiring. She leans into her humans, wagging furiously, and when night falls, she longs to be close—curled up by your side, finally feeling safe. Training & Home Life Potty Training: A work in progress, but she’s eager to learn with gentle guidance. Leash Training: She hasn’t yet learned the leash, so a patient family will need to help her discover the outside world at her own pace. Eating Habits: Annalise is a wonderful eater—mealtime is one of her favorite parts of the day! Sleeping Style: At bedtime, she wants nothing more than to snuggle near her people, soaking up the love she missed for so long. Ideal Home Annalise’s perfect home is one filled with kindness, patience, and play. Another playful dog is essential for her happiness—someone who will wrestle, chase, and teach her all the joys of being a dog. Because she isn’t leash trained yet, a secure fenced yard (or safe outdoor space) will give her the freedom she’s never had while keeping her safe. She came from a place of confinement, but her future is bright. With every tail wag, every joyful bounce, and every tentative snuggle, Annalise shows us her bravery and her boundless capacity for love. If you open your heart to her, Annalise will gift you with unwavering devotion, daily joy, and the privilege of witnessing a soul truly set free.
