Budsy is a handsome Yorkie/ShihTzu mixed boy estimated to be 7 years old. He is a small boy, weighing 12 lbs. Budsy has expressive eyes and a scruffy face making him oh so lovable. He is an affectionate, loyal companion with a sweet nature and a calm but funny presence in the home. His name “Budsy” fits him perfectly because he truly wants to be everyone’s little buddy and companion. Budsy came from a Quebec shelter, and little is known about his past. Despite whatever uncertainty he experienced before rescue, Budsy has shown himself to be resilient, affectionate, and eager to connect with people. He will benefit from a patient adopter who can continue building his confidence through routine, positive reinforcement, and consistency. Budsy would do well in a variety of home environments. He enjoys spending time outside, and will happily lay around while you garden in the yard. Budsy has low to medium energy. He enjoys walks, but also lounging on the couch. He is food and treat motivated, which makes training rewarding for him. Budsy has done well with crate training. He will only bark out of excitement of seeing you, or to get your attention. One of Budsy’s best traits is how affectionate and loving he is. He enjoys being close by, soaking up attention, and spending quiet time relaxing after exercise. Budsy has adapted very well to foster home life and enjoys having a comfortable place to rest. Grooming has been manageable, and he tolerates handling well. He is a dog that will require professional grooming every few months and regular brushing to keep him tidy. Budsy has also enjoys car rides and continues gaining confidence with new experiences. Budsy has been great with the other dog in his foster home and enjoys canine companionship. He has shown appropriate social behaviour and would likely do well with another respectful dog after proper introductions. He would also be fine being the only dog in the home. His response to cats is unknown at this time. On walks, Budsy may show interest in dogs, but he is not reactive. Budsy would likely do well with older children, over 8yrs of age, who will honour his boundaries during play. Budsy is still learning how to play appropriately and needs more practice with this. He isn’t one for rough housing or a lot of play though and preference will be given to an adult only home that his calm and quiet. Budsy being highly treat motivated, he can sometimes take treats swiftly. Treats are best served with open palm until he understands treats are in abundance and what the expectations are. Budsy will do well in a positive reinforcement training school where treats are used as an initial motivator. He works eagerly for food!! Post adoption training is required for our adopters and Budsy will enjoy and benefit from the social aspects of this as well as the learning. Budsy has received veterinary care since entering rescue, including vaccinations, a neuter and dental work. He has handled veterinary visits well and continues to settle nicely into a healthy routine. At this time, there are no major health concerns. Budsy is a scruffy love bug of a dog looking for a forever home where he can continue building confidence and enjoying the good life. He will thrive with adopters who can provide consistency, regular exercise, and lots of affection. Budsy’s combination of sweet affection, adaptable energy level, and eagerness to learn make him a wonderful companion. If you are looking for a loyal best friend who wants nothing more than to be your buddy through adventures and quiet evenings at home, Budsy may be the perfect match. Story
Aria is a delightful 6-year-old Terrier Mix being fostered in Waterloo.  She was released into our care from a breeding facility where she was used to produce puppies for profit. She has a gorgeous copper and brown coat that is easy to maintain. She weighs 16.5 lbs. Soon after arriving in our care Aria was found to have IMHA (immune mediated hemolytic anemia) an autoimmune disease. Her symptoms were lethargy, loss of appetite and reddish urine. Aria received a battery of tests and was immediately put on a course of steroids. She has since received one normal blood test showing her system has improved. She is being weaned off the steroids and will have another test before being cleared to go to her new home. Going forward, she will need regular blood tests as part of her veterinary care. Aria received her spay operation and has had a dental cleaning. She is vaccinated and microchipped. Aria has been loving and friendly since day one, not showing the shyness of many of our mill moms. She enjoys a cuddle from time to time but prefers to stay on the floor usually. She is very gentle and quiet around the house but is attentive to sights and sounds.   She has been introduced to walking on the leash and enjoys being outside. She can be left for several hours on her own in the house and is not destructive. Aria is working on housetraining, and we put her outside a few times a day to relieve herself in the fenced backyard. She is eating kibble softened in water and enjoys treats very much. Aria sleeps on her dog bed peacefully through the night.  She has not yet learned to jump onto furniture but she has now mastered going up and down the stairs.  She would be fine being the only dog or sharing a home with another dog of similar size and age. Her preferred home would be with someone who is home part of the day, have a securely fenced yard,  and would work with her on her housetraining and other skills. Aria will be a wonderful companion and a beloved member of her forever family.May 16, 2026, 10:35 am
