Story
All interested people should submit an adoption application as their first step. Hi, I'm Doc! You might be wondering how a cute little guy like me ended up homeless. Well, unfortunately, humans weren't so nice to me and my doggy friends. Up until a few months ago, I was sitting in a cage with my doggy friend and 2 other dogs that were deceased. Our fur was matted because no one ever cared enough to brush us, and we were forced to live in our own urine and feces. I felt so hopeless - the matts were painful, and it felt like no one was ever going to love us. Then, one day, some very kind people came and rescued us! They took us to a shelter, cleaned us up, and got us healthy again! Now, I am looking forward to moving on with my life. Being in that situation for such a long time made me grateful for the simple things in life - walks, snuggles, and being carried by my humans are my favorite things. I love wearing sweaters ( it's so cold up here in NH, especially for a little guy with shaved fur!) I will sleep in my crate at night, but I really love sleeping with my foster humans, too! I am still working on my potty training, but I'm hoping my new family can continue helping me with that. If you are interested in adopting me, please submit an application! I promise I am a good boy, and I would be so grateful to finally be a part of a family that loves me  All pets adopted from GDHS are spayed or neutered, have vaccinations brought up to date, are on heartworm preventative (dogs), FIV/FELV tested (cats) and microchipped. The Greater Derry Humane Society does not have a physical shelter, and all visits are by appointment only. March 10, 2025, 3:19 pm

After you submit your application please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not mean he/she will be adopted to that home. Once your application has been approved a volunteer with contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the animal you are interested in.
