I'm house trained and have the whole crate routine down, although I've recently discovered the joy of comfy beds and couches. My love for treats knows no bounds, and my humans find my little dances and animated antics quite amusing. I'm a quiet companion who loves being your shadow. If food is involved, count me in! Napping in my cozy beds is a favorite pastime, and I hope my gentle snoring won't keep you up. I'm a good girl, but there's a unique quirk – I'm afraid of touch. However, I make up for it with adorable bumps on your hand and leg, especially if you're fixing my food. I love other dogs and currently share my space with two furry friends. Snuggling with them is one of my favorite activities. Did I mention how much I love to eat? Veggies and fruits are on my menu too, all part of staying healthy! I weigh about 10 pounds, and I’m always right by my human’s side. In fact, I’m a total shadow—I’ll follow you everywhere! I’m a bit timid and can flinch if I’m startled, but once I warm up to you, I’ll show my affection by giving sweet little licks to your fingers and nose. I’m not much of a lap dog, but I love being close to you all the time. I enjoy simple things, like following you around and getting the occasional treat. I’m still learning the ropes when it comes to potty training. I know I’m supposed to go outside, but sometimes I forget to wait, so a bit more training will help me get there! I’m also crate trained and feel safe in there when needed. As for walking on a leash, I’m getting better at it, though I don’t need daily walks. I can go out on a leash for potty breaks and exercise. Loud noises and thunderstorms can make me nervous, but I do well with children and have a quiet, calm nature. Some might call me a little anxious.  That being said, I hope to find a patient family that will give me time to come out of my shell.  Not only will I need that but also another dog in the home to help me learn all the necessary things of being in your family and help me gain confidence.  So far while in my foster home, I have been mirroring the other dogs and just started playing with toys which is something I haven’t done before.  That’s a big step for an anxious pup!  I love eating but taking treats from people’s hands is still a struggle.  But my discovery of toys shows that I am very capable of all the good things life has to offer us both. One of those favorites is sunbathing on the deck!  Ah, the bliss of it all! While here I have been going potty both on a potty pad and outside, so I’m a work in progress. I know once I am settled in my forever home and on a good routine I will figure it out. We are working on crate training – not my favorite thing. So, shared walls night be a problem as I like to bark while crated.  Oh and I should mention that due to my anxiety, I’ll need a fenced yard so I don’t zip off in a moment of fear. I’m busy studying the commands and have picked up quite a few: come, kennel, outside and go potty! Overall I’m really a sweet little guy who is making progress and loves being told I’m a good boy. All I need now is a forever family with lots of patience, love and a furry friend to show me the ropes. Can’t wait to meet you! *I’m a growing puppy and I have not yet had a lot of experience with crates, kids or cats and I might bark if something alarms me, but I really love to learn and hoping for a family who will take me to a basic obedience class to continue to help me build confidence and dog skills. My name is Challah, and I'm a seven-year-old Yorkie weighing in at a petite 8 pounds. Let me tell you a little about myself. I'm a shy, friendly and curious girl with lots of energy. I am learning every day that people can be trusted. When I'm at home, I enjoy being near my favorite humans and getting all the cuddles I can. I'm still figuring out what toys and treats are all about, but I'm sure I'll get the hang of it soon! I'm great dogs of all sizes. In fact, I require a doggy sibling in my new home to help me feel more secure, learn to get on a routine and help me learn to trust people. I'm respectful of cats too, and I always make sure to give them their space. While I'm not potty trained just yet, I'm very close, especially when kept on a good schedule. I’m Mary Ann, a lovely 10-year-old female Yorkie weighing 8 pounds. Even though I’m a senior, I’ve got lots of love to give. I’m a six-year-old Yorkie weighing in at a petite 9 pounds, but don’t let my size fool you—I’ve got a lot of love to give! I’m a sweet and lovable girl who just wants to be close to my people. At home, I’ll follow you around with my tail wagging, always ready for some quality cuddle time on the couch. I’m not super active, but I do enjoy a good run in the backyard every now and then. I’m almost potty trained—just need a consistent schedule to keep me on track! At night, I sleep peacefully in my crate, though I’d much rather be with everyone during the day. I do require another dog in my forever home to show me the ropes and help me learn to trust people.  I’m still figuring out the whole playtime thing, but I’ve started to run around and be more playful since I’ve settled in here. I’m also a good eater and love soft treats. I’m mostly quiet, only barking when the other dogs do, and I love my naps as much as I love my cuddle time. I’m just a sweet, easy-going girl looking for a home where I can be close to my people and maybe have a few doggie pals to hang out with. Meet Rosie – a 9 yr old Maltese that came to us from a breeding operation. She’s lived with other dogs in a kennel setting, so moving into a home is a big transition for her. She’s good with the resident dog, but frightened of the cats. Her current foster mom says she would be fine as an only dog, or could be paired with another same size mature dog. She’s never lived with children, and has no interest in play; we think she would do best in a quiet adult-only home. Rosie is small (she only weighs 12#), so going up and down the stairs is a challenge for her – if there are steps in her new home, her adopter should be physically able to pick her up and carry her up and down them. If bribed with treats, she might try to navigate a few steps, but this is a slow process. Rosie uses pee pads indoors most of the time (she was never housebroken), but will do her business outside in the morning and afternoon. She barks when anyone comes into the house, or when she hears an outside noise, so is not a dog for apartment living. Rides well in the car. Goes on walks with the resident dog, and walks very slowly. Sleeps in bed with her person at night, and enjoys snuggling. Do not crate her – she will claw and try to get out. Shy meeting new people, but is fine once she warms up to them. Has been good at the groomer, and will need grooming 5-6 times/yr. Rosie needs a secure fenced yard, because running around and doing zoomies is how she gets her exercise – be sure there aren’t any gaps under the fence or around the gate that she could squeeze through . Rosie was spayed in May, and because of severe periodontal disease, 23 teeth needed to be extracted while she was under anesthetic. Rosie eats some small-bite dry kibble mixed with chicken. Rosie is current on distemper, rabies, bordetella, and leptospirosis vaccinations. Her heartworm and tick profiles are negative. The microchip is registered to Second Chance. Sammy is an adorable 5 month old male Maltese……all 5 pounds of him. His DOB is 4/11/2024. Because he’s been with multiple other dogs, he hasn’t gotten the one-on-one housebreaking attention needed, so he's not reliably housebroken yet. But once adopted this should go very quickly; foster working on it now. Whenever he is taken out, he is on a long lead and his foster mom stays with him because otherwise he could be vulnerable to a bird of prey or coyote. Sammy is in his chewing stage, so will need plenty of approved things to chew on and you need to make your electrical cords puppy-safe because he has chewed on them in his foster home. Sammy needs to be safely kenneled when left alone, and will need adult supervision when playing in the house. This little guy would thrive in a home that had someone home much of the time. One important thing to note: Sammy will burrow under blankets, so everyone in the home must locate him before they sit or lay down if there is a blanket or throw on the furniture. He gets along well with the other small dogs in the foster home, and would love a canine playmate about his size. Sammy is very charming, and he kisses his foster mom awake every morning, then wants his first snuggle of the day – he uses soft steps to get on and off the bed. He is so tiny, he would be vulnerable to injury if accidentally dropped, so any children in his home should be mature/responsible 10 yr and up. No cat experience. Sammy barks when left alone, so he shouldn't live in housing that shares a wall with another family. Sammy is neutered, and current on distemper and rabies vaccinations. His microchip is registered to Second Chance. He will need to be groomed several times a year – an ongoing expense to consider. He is five lively pounds of joy, very curious and intelligent.
