Pepita is in search of a special home. Read her whole bio to understand her health concerns. Pepita is a retired breeding dog. She's quite small and has suffered from either a past injury or a congenital defect in her right hip/femur head. Although she can walk/run and move about fine right now, her veterinarian currently advises against surgery due to her tiny size of 3.8 lbs. Pepita needs an adopter who is home all the time or takes her with them, as she tends to cry out if left alone in a kennel or separate room. You also need to let her sleep with you for the same reason or she will scream. She enjoys being held and is very delicate. She is intimidated by larger dogs, even the 15-pound one in her current home, which is a bit too boisterous for her. She prefers the calm dogs. It's recommended that she not be in a home with children, given her small stature. She can be a trip hazard as she will stop and lay like a baby deer at any moment. You have to be very careful where she is. I think she may think I will pick her up if she plops right in front of me. Instead, I try my superman flying moves. The ideal adopter for Pepita would be someone who is financially prepared for potential future surgery on her hip and possible pain management when she is older. She is incredibly affectionate and charmingly cute. She aspires to accompany her owner everywhere. She is house trained to outside and a potty pad. She did have a dental while with our rescue, including extractions, and requires daily oral maintenance typical for small breeds. To apply for adoption, please visit www.campcompanion.org. Hi there, I'm Eve! I was rescued from a puppy breeding farm just before Christmas, and now I’m 6 years old, looking for my very own peaceful forever home. Though I can be a little skittish, I’m an approachable girl who’s learning to enjoy life outside of the farm. I need a fenced-in yard to feel safe, and I do best in a quiet home with fewer distractions, as I’m not a fan of noise or large groups of people. I get along great with both dogs and cats, and sometimes, I even walk to my foster dad to let him know how much I appreciate him. I love lying beside him and soaking up some calm moments. While I’m still adjusting to the indoor life, I’m making progress and learning to relax more each day. I’m up to date on my shots, and my puppy-producing days are behind me. Now, I just need someone who will be patient and loving, ready to help me feel safe and cherished in a quiet, loving forever home. Could that be you? Adoption fee is $300 plus tax.
