She may be a bit shy when first meeting new people, but give her a little time and reassurance and she blossoms into the sweetest lap companion you could ask for. Once she feels safe, Winnie loves being close to her person and will happily curl up in your lap for cuddles and quiet time. Winnie does well with adult women and both big and small dogs. She can be a little unsure at first, especially around new dogs, and may try to act tough if another dog approaches her person. She responds very well to gentle correction and quickly learns to accept dogs that respect her space and her tiny size. She does best in calm, respectful dog interactions and is very even-tempered overall. She is leash trained, crate trained, does well in the car, and truly wants to please. Winnie may whine a bit when crated and can bark at unfamiliar dogs, but these behaviors improve as she settles in and feels secure. When she first arrives in a new environment, she may potty a little due to nerves, but that stops once she feels safe and comfortable. She will give a warning growl to other dogs around food or treats, but she has never shown this behavior toward humans. Winnie came from a high-kill shelter and appears to have been mistreated in the past. She is very submissive and will often roll onto her back when approached, a sign of both her gentle nature and her desire to please. It’s clear she’s been craving love and stability, and once she bonds, she attaches deeply to her person. When she first arrived, Cheyenne would hide, army crawl when approached, and bark anxiously in her crate. She still army crawls when picked up, but it’s clear she wants connection—she just needs time and patience to feel fully secure. Cheyenne absolutely adores other small dogs and learns best by watching and following their lead. A confident canine companion is essential for her continued progress. I weigh around 5 pounds.  I have a little bit of a medical situation that requires some special care, but my foster family says I’m worth it. I have been diagnosed with protein-losing enteropathy (PLE), which means I need to follow a special veterinary prescription diet and eat 3-4 times a day. I also need B12 injections every 2-4 weeks, which I take like a champ. Because I don't have any teeth, I can only eat soft food (my prescription food is a yummy wet food), and I may need a face clean-up after each meal. I'll need to stay on my special diet and keep getting these injections for the rest of my life, but it doesn’t stop me from being the sweetest dog ever! So beyond my medical issues – I need you to know that I LOVE snuggling! My favorite thing in the world is to curl up on a heated blanket and snuggle with my foster parents and my little foster brother. I’m super attached to my foster mom and always want to be in her lap or in her arms! I am still learning how to be a dog, and I copy my foster brother's behavior (good and bad!). I get anxious when I’m left alone, so I need another small, mellow dog in the home for company. Another dog will give me confidence and learn to trust people. I get a little worried around new people. The commotion that comes with kids tends to scare me and I might nip. I really prefer grown up humans.  There are other dog things that I am working on. I don’t like being in a kennel. It scares me, and I will cry until I’m let out, so I’ll need help and patience learning about the crate. We are also working on leash training and potty training, but brrrrr, it is so cold outside, so I haven’t practiced much. I do require a fenced yard in my forever home since I am not leash trained. Despite my little quirks, I am the absolute best snuggler ever. I could snuggle all day long and be completely happy. I sleep a lot and, once I bond with you, I’ll be one of the most loyal companions you could ever ask for. My name is Tula, and I am a 7 pound female yorkie and about 6 years old. I can’t wait until I go to my furever home. I am  very brave girl and getting used to living with people, in fact I like the company of people, but I will back away if you approach me. I am a little cautious, but foster mom says I am getting braver everyday!  I love puzzles and treat dispenser toys, but my all-time favorite treat is dried chicken hearts! Yummy! Other than being a little cautious in new situations, I don’t have any other big fears! I’ve never been around young children, but I’m sure I would love them just as much as I love my foster mom! I am working very hard on learning how to go potty outside, and I was doing great, but then it got so cold, and I can’t seem to spend enough time outside to be able to go potty without getting too cold! I am comfortable sleeping in my crate even though I get a little anxious when I first get in. I am not trained to walk on a leash, and I only go potty in my fenced backyard, so I told my foster mom to make sure my furever home has a fenced backyard. I like to bark when someone comes to the door just to make sure they are nice! I also like to bark at night sometimes, but not all the time! I have never been around cats, but am a gentle girl so we might be fine. I like to play with dogs sometimes but I get jealous of them so I'd probably be best as an only dog. Though I am cautious of you and who I play with, I know I am the sweet little girl you and your family have been looking for. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
