Story
Please contact Valerie (valerin81871@verizon.net) for more information about this pet. Adoption Donation   $250 Located:   Rhode Island   Age: approx   14   years old Weight:  8 lbs.   Sawyer is a 14-year-old, 6.5-lb Yorkshire Terrier seeking an experienced, compassionate home. He has severe collapsing trachea, which presents as chronic coughing and breathing difficulty that can worsen with excitement, stress, or temperature changes. He requires ongoing medical management, a calm environment, and an adopter familiar with senior or special-needs dogs. His quality of life is currently stable with proper care and routine. Sawyer is functionally blind, but once acclimated, he learns his surroundings and navigates confidently. He is affectionate, bonds closely with his person, and thrives on routine. He does best with a harness only, minimal exertion, and a quiet, low-stress home. Sawyer is not for first-time dog owners, but for the right adopter, he is a deeply loving and devoted companion.      If you are interested in adopting me, please fill out an application on our website  www.fohari.org  and email my foster parent for more information:  valeri.nihill@gmail.com Please verify the location and readiness of this dog with us.  Because we save lives from various locations through out the United States, some dogs may not be in New England yet, nor ready for immediate adoption.   Our adoption application can be found here: https://fohari.org/application/  Our Adoption Process:   Go to our website and select the animal you are interested in. ALL animals are in foster homes as we do NOT have a  shelter where you can visit. Some animals are in foster care in New England, and some are located in other states. If the initials following the animals name are a state, then that is the state where the animal is located. If initials are not a state, then those are the initials of the foster home outside of New England and you will not be able to meet the animal ahead of time. Complete our online application You will be contacted by phone or email by the foster parent  or a member of our adoption team and will have the opportunity to find out more about the animal, and ask any questions that you have to ensure the animal is a good fit for your household. If the animal is local, you can meet the animal, but you would not be able to take the dog home until you are approved to adopt.  From our end, we will check references and schedule a home visit.  If you live in an apartment, or a condo, we will need to verify permission to own the animal from your landlord or condo board. Please let your vet’s office and references know we will be contacting them. If your  references are positive, we will schedule a home visit by a volunteer. Please try to accommodate the home visit volunteer as most  have busy schedules. Delays in the visit will result in a delay in the adoption. Once you are approved, you will receive an e-mail with your  adoption contract attached. This e-mail will have details about pick up, the balance of the adoption fee that is owed, etc. Please email your signed & witnessed contract and pay your adoption fee in full, and for any animals located out of state, you will be contacted for details about transport to New England. Once you have paid your adoption fee in full and sent back your contract, you can make arrangement to pick up your animal from the foster home or from transport depending on where the animal is located. Please bring a harness, collar, ID tag and leash when you are picking up the dog unless otherwise instructed by the foster parent. Our extensive approval process is intended to ensure the best fit between our animals and adopters. FOHARI.ORG makes no explicit or implicit guarantees in reference to the health, temperament and/or the breed of the animal. The animal is adopted ‘as is’, and the adopter assumes all responsibility for treatment of any and all existing conditions or any other conditions of physical or temperament changes that may occur. While FOHARI.ORG makes every effort to place only healthy animals, FOHARI.ORG cannot guarantee the health of any animal, and shall not be held responsible for any medical expenses that may be incurred. Adoption Donation   $ 499    Located: RI (Transportation costs included to the Northeast , plz ask for more details) Age: approx  7 years old  Weight: 13  lbs.   Yorkie fans!!  This sweet girl is 7 years old, medium energy, and gets along great with other dogs. It took her a while to warm up to her foster family but once she did, she is a total love bug.  She likes walks, LOVES belly rubs, and enjoys the outdoors.  She gets along with both men and women, but seems to prefer the girls.  She would be best in a home with no children, since the chaos makes her a little nervous.  She has grown up around other dogs, so that would also add to her comfort level.      If you are interested in adopting me, please fill out an application on our website  www.fohari.org  and email my foster parent for more information:  friendsoha@yahoo.com Please verify the location and readiness of this dog with us.  Because we save lives from various locations through out the United States, some dogs may not be in New England yet, nor ready for immediate adoption.   Our adoption application can be found here: https://fohari.org/application/  Our Adoption Process:   Go to our website and select the animal you are interested in. Please contact Valerie (valerin81871@verizon.net) for more information about this pet. Adoption Donation   $99               Located:  Rhode Island   Age: approx   14   years old     Weight:  5 lbs Meet Mr. Trussy. This gorgeous senior gentleman came to us from a local shelter after he was surrendered by a family who was leaving the country. He's around 14, has lived his entire life with the family, and is understandably shaken by his change in circumstances. Mr. Trussy is a gentle, tiny, sweet old man with lots of love to give.  He runs around, cuddles, seeks affection and play interaction. He's functionally blind and nearly deaf but those things don’t bother him at all. He navigates the yard and deck stairs as long as there is light outside. Anyone who adopts Mr Trussy needs to understand that he is a senior dog with health issues – he has a heart murmur, severe dental disease and he's currently being treated for ear infections. We don't know how much time he has, and certainly can't guarantee his health going forward, but we believe he is as deserving of a loving home as any young healthy puppy is! He's looking for someone who will love and accept him in his golden years.  If you are interested in adopting me, please fill out an application on our website  www.fohari.org  and email my foster parent for more information:  valeri.nihillcom Please verify the location and readiness of this dog with us.  Because we save lives from various locations through out the United States, some dogs may not be in New England yet, nor ready for immediate adoption.   Our adoption application can be found here: https://fohari.org/application/  Our Adoption Process:   Go to our website and select the animal you are interested in. Story
Meet Sundae!Sundae is basically a plant disguised as a 17.5lb poodle mix. She is happiest outside in the sunshine, photosynthesizing and increasing that serotonin production. Sundae is about 6.5 years old and she's a pretty mid-energy kinda gal. She can get the zoomies just like any dog but, for the most part, you're not going to find her running laps or bouncing off the walls. She even has the tendency to lag behind you on a walk - she does NOT want to walk ahead of you or even keep pace with you. She would much rather dawdle and dillydally. She's a little bit on the shy side at first but once she gives you a thorough investigation (which needs to happen on HER terms and HER terms only), she wants to be involved in everything you're doing. She's nosy and has a major case of FOMO. She does well with other dogs and previously lived with multiple dogs of various sizes. She has a healthy fear of cats so dog-friendly cats shouldn't be a problem. We would prefer older kids (12+) because we don't know if she's ever been around small kids and she has a tendency to be a nervous nelly at first before she decides she's actually a social butterfly. She WILL require regular grooming and daily brushing/coat maintenance in between grooms. To apply, visit foreverpaws.com and click adopt to download our application. Once complete, you can email it to us at fpas1@foreverpaws.com.
